  1. Port & Starboard balconies

Balcony cat. cabins: Deck 10, 9'x9' with 5 ft covered and 4' uncovered

Balcony cat. cabins on other decks 9'x5' fully covered

Mini suites on deck 9, 9'x6', uncovered

Mini suites on deck 9 there are 12 of them, 9'x6' covered

    Other info:

Full suites and stern facing cabins have various sized balconies.

We always select a cabin on a deck with cabins above and below us. Check deck plans for connecting cabins. Reports have been that with connecting cabins you can hear through the connecting doors. Some balcony cabins on the Grand do not have nightstands and have other not normal features. These special features are shown in red on the Princess.com deck plans when you click on a specific. There isn't much lounging around on balconies on an Alaska cruise, normally cool. The best views of sights is from the upper open decks and not from your balcony.

Very grateful for your detailed response. We did wonder about how much we will actually sit out even in August . We did the fjord’s last year and found that as you mentioned, the best view points were on deck.

  2. Caribe deck has the larger balcony. We will be going on the Grand in June of 2018 and made sure we got a larger balcony because some of our group would be traveling in interior rooms and we wanted the extra room plus we had just did the Crown in March and were jealous because we were on Baja deck (one above Caribe) and their deck was much larger.

Many thanks for your help. There will be 4 of us travelling, so that is something to think about.

  3. We were in Zeebrugge of a P&O cruise last October.

The port shuttle dropped at the dock gates where loads of taxis were waiting.

The took 6 people and were happy for groups to share to make up the 6.

Charge was 50 Euro per car and they returned to Brugge to pick us up at a pre arranged time.

    Absolutely painless.

    Hi Scottie99,

Just looking ourselves at transfers into Bruge centre. Just wondering if that was 50 euros each way or return.

    many thanks.

  4. I'm not Pbrady, but here's my recommendations, posted in an earlier discussion.

A couple corrections/additions to the information in that post:

Shiva's has closed their Trident shop and consolidated into the Flagship store, pictured -- no more $20 watches, but $500,000 is no longer their most expensive. We're up to 28 years with the Alwani family, and the same jeweler, Ajay, the entire time.

Ballerina still has some very fine pieces. Check out their Sauro line and say hello to Ravi.

Splash has really upped their game and is also carrying more expensive

jdiamonds. Say hi to DJ and Bob.

    gary

p.s. My information is slightly dated, as we haven't visited the shops since last month. :)

Many thanks Gary, there's a few suggestions there for us to be looking at. May even come across a little something for me as well ;).

Hoping to do Maho beach, but leaving plenty of time for a little shopping!!!!!!!!

    Thanks again

    Jean.

  5. For us, St. Martin is our favorite shopping island. We think the prices are much better in St. Martin & a much bigger variety of items. St. Thomas, IMO, is US prices. We have used a jeweler in St. Martin for nearly 20 years and the appraisals back home are 3 to 4 times what we paid.

Just an aside, not knowing which cruises you are considering, we use to think Aruba was expensive, but for trinkets, embroidered T-shirts & small souvenirs, they are now fantastic. They went from one of the most expensive to one of the cheapest - again, IMO.

    Happy cruising!!

    Hi Pbrady,

Would be interested if you could recommend your jewellers, we go there in about 5 weeks. Looking to buy hubby a new wedding ring for our anniversary, and any recommendations would be great.

  6. Recently sailed on the Regal, and there were hand sanitisers at the entrance to the restaurants and also 2 sinks at each entrance to the Buffett. All great but no one there to make sure you used them. Sailed with NCL last year and you couldn't get anywhere near unless they saw you using sanitisers. Agree with previous comments that good hand washing, taking about 30 seconds being the best method to kill bugs. Singing happy birthday (to yourself in my case !!!!) twice should take you about 30 seconds.

  7. We have used Cruising Excursions on our last 2 cruises and been more than happy with them. Small intermate groups and knowledgeable guides. Plus we were always back in plenty of time. Have also used HOHO buses which I agree are great if you are not wanting to travel to far a field

  8. Have a great trip to all of you on the cruise. We did it in July and it is a truly amazing itinery and wonderful ship. It is up there with our best all time holidays :D.

We are also sailing on the 30th August, and now really excited. I was wondering if you could tell me, if they have an A la carte breakfast option on board the Regal.

  9. Wonder if anyone can help please. Also looking at purchasing the soda package, but don't fancy sitting in a restaurant with a plastic cup on the table. Will they serve the soft drinks in a glass at dinner? Noticed someone commented about a sticker for your ID card. Does that show what package you have purchased?

  10. Many thanks Jayne for your great review, I only came across it a couple of days ago but have loved reading it. A little sorry now we didn't book the Davina for this September. We looked at this ship and the Regal Princess, our TA advised us against the Davina as she had heard bad reports. With this in mind and wondering about the weather in the Caribbean at this time of year, we plumed for the Regal. (Have had a holiday to the Caribbean cancelled a few years ago because of a hurricane, so left us a little wary). Will defiantly look at sailing her next year, you have really wetted my appetite to go back to the Caribbean. :D

  11. Anybody have any idea on where and/or when they'll have the formal ceremony to christen the Regal? I've been searching but haven't had any luck. We're on the inaugural cruise starting May 20th in Venice and hoped that we might be able to see the ceremony!

Hi AV8TOR, hope you enjoyed the cruise, we are booked on for the 30th August and now getting quiet excited.

Not sure if you are interested, or aware, but when the Regal goes to USA for its change of destination, it will have a naming ceremony there, which is some time in November.

  12. Thanks a lot for all your responses! WE are in the Western Mediterranean itinerary: Livorno, Monte Carlo, Toulon, Valencia, Barcelona, Palermo, Naples, ,etc.

I possible, we would like to stay away from companies such as Rome In Limo. I know they have excellent reviews but I am a little uncertain on how the toour sharing works. Especially what happens if some people cancel at the last minute.

I did look into cruising excursions.com price and itinerary wise it looks very appealing. However the reviews I found are all over the place. But this is the type of company I would like to find more of for this cruise. Where they take care of forming the groups and all I am responsible for is paying for DH and myself.

    Thanks!

We booked 2 trips with Cruising Excursions last year on a similar itinerary, and we were really pleased with them. Going again this year around the med and have just booked all the full day trips we are going to do, with them. It really is a personal thing, as to wether you book with the ships excursions or book private trips. Having done both we much prefer a private trip.

  13. Hope this will answer both yours and the original question. We visited Santorini last September, as you got off the tender there is a very small bay with a few kiosk's, it was at one of these we got our ticket for the boat trip round to Oia and the bus fare back to Fira. If I remember correctly the bus runs every hour, we decided to get the last but one bus back, as we were eating in Fira. We got to the bus stop about 15 mins before it was due, and there were no problems. No one got left behind.

  14. Many thanks Legion 3, for your response. Having spoken with MSC today the decision may be taken out of our hands if we stick with original days, as there are no suites left !!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Hi, Looking at booking the Divina in September this year. Please could someone advise us where the best suites are. Could anyone also say whether the suites are that much better/bigger than the balcony rooms please.
