  1. Hi and thank you for thinking of us. We had a wonderful cruise. We ended up not going ashore because of the rocky waves - the tenders really had a hard time getting back to the ship and the captain decided to end the day early because of it. Santa Barbara is such a beautiful coastline and we admired it from the ship.

  2. We are Platinim Plus on NCL (or whatever they changed that to now). My mom has done 30+ cruises with them. Pre-COVID we had several poor experiences on cruises. We were so loyal to that line and loved it so much but were consistently disappointed in all you listed (and more). I came on Cruise Critic and asked questions and learned as much as I could and we tried HAL before COVID struck. It was amazing! Great food, great service, clean, and decent enough entertainment. We loved that staff served food at the buffet and the buffet food was very good! We never felt it was crowded or a free for all. No children running amok. Polite fellow cruisers. No craziness in making dining reservations.  Orderly on/off at ports. I definitely recommend you try. We are leaving tomorrow on another one. 😊

I just wanted to thank the many people on this forum who contribute advice and suggestions. You have convinced me to try HAL for my 15th cruise. Today I booked the 8 day Southern Caribbean Seafarer on Rotterdam March 28, 2025. Based on what you taught me I booked an obstructed veranda, purchased Club Orange and upgraded to an aft veranda.

I came on this forum about 3 years ago as a loyal NCL customer looking for a different/better experience than NCL was providing. So many on this forum gave me great information and because of them I tried my first HAL cruise. It was the last cruise before the world shut down because of COVID. We had the best time on that cruise and are going again soon! I find those in this forum are courteous and helpful and I, too, am appreciative of their help.

At any bar.  Yes, you can get cans of soda too.

With two key cards (with HIA) I have usually been given 4 cans at a time.

Are the cans of water 12 ounces?

  5. Hi all,

does anyone know what Oriental Corner at the Lido Market is? It’s on our daily program on the app but there is no description. I’m wondering if it’s something special in addition to the usual Asian buffet offerings?

    thank you!

  6. When the weather is calm, it is the BEST! Hammocks IN the ocean, all you can drink beer and basic cocktails, great service, lots of shade (tables, umbrellas,  and chairs included), clear blue water, and excellent guacamole. The grilled Mahi Mahi was good once when we had it but cold and servers were stingy last time. When it's windy the waves are strong and water too cloudy to enter. Unfortunately this excursion is often cancelled bc of bad weather but we try every time.

Thank you for posting! An excellent crew!!

  8. The Getaway is our favorite NCL ship. We've sailed on it about 6 times and have enjoyed each cruise tremendously (read my reviews). Enjoy the pampering and the layout of the ship (including the outdoor walking areas!). The food was great and the service/staff were outstanding.

  9. This thread seemed like it could use an update. Would anyone have any information about NCL, but especially about the Epic, and the provision of church services?

We will be sailing on the Epic on Christmas eve/Christmas Day and I wondered if there would be anything because of it being a special holiday.

I read the previous posts about how a pastor could volunteer and just wondered if that were still true.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sinbad

We were on a Christmas cruise (Pearl) several years ago and there were 2 priests who conducted the most beautiful Christmas Eve mass. The room was packed - both guests and staff - and we enjoyed it very much. Another Christmas cruise (Pearl) after it had no mass and we were disappointed. We were told it just depended on if they were able to get a priest on board. We're hoping we get lucky again on the Pearl (Panama Canal) this year.

  10. We are sailing June 26 on getaway I have read reviews that NCl has changed iteniry on recent cruise on switching belieze with costa maya is this true .We are booking private excursions for scheduled day and a port switch could cause problems thankyou

We just got back from our Getaway cruise last week. They switched Cozumel and Costa Maya so Costa Maya was our last port.
