  1. Anyone know when they offer the one-bag special on a 9-day cruise?

I'm on a 9-day now. $19.99 laundry bag service was offered on the 3rd and 4th day. They also offer it again on the 6/7th day. Plan for a 2-day turnaround.

  2. I was searching for the answer myself before my cruise. On the Pearl now. The 250 internet minute package that you can receive with the Free at Sea offers is equivalent to $125.

You go online to register your room first (login.com). Then go to the Internet Manager or your Concierge, if you are in a suite/haven/platinum, to upgrade. They will charge you $29.99/day * # of cruise days and credit your amount by the $125.

I'm on a 9-day and the total upgrade cost was $145. 7-day would be $85.

Btw, this assumes that you did not use any of the original 250 minutes, other than to register once on board. You have up to 3 days to purchase the unlimited plan.

I you are a platinum and receive the additional 30 minutes there is no credit value towards the upgrade.

  3. Just another point of view. My husband and I rented from Oleanders. Available in walking distance from the dock. You get helmets for the riders and the drivers have to "practice" before you take off. My husband has a motorcycle license so he was comfortable with it. They do drive on the left so you need to be comfortable with that.

I was cautious before trying it. We ended up having a great time and covered the island. Cars do drive fast there but just stay to the side of the road and let them pass. Signage wasn't great on the island but luckily it was fairly easy to navigate with landmarks. Rented the moped over a couple of days and was able to park it out in front of the ship at night along with all the others doing the same.

  4. We booked Holiday Inn across from the port based on reviews and the price was right. Checked in late afternoon and settled in. Was sitting at the table and chair set in the room and noticed small bugs on the table near the glasses. I took a kleenex to kill them only to see more movement. I lifted up the glasses and it was crawling with little bugs. The lighting was not great. Took my phone and added light to the table and found more than a few. I assumed that housekeeping didn't clean the glasses or the table top, perhaps something sugary spilt. Shortly heard from my husband who had just used the bathroom that there were bugs near the sink.

Grabbed all of the suitcases, zipped everything up and went to complain at the Front Desk. They apologized but also said it was the Miami humidity. I've stayed in Miami numerous times and this is the first time I've come across this. The hotel made arrangements for us over at the Intercontinental. It was pricier but peace of mind was essential. Checked in across the street and room was clean and bug free.

I'm usually pretty accommodating but the last thing I wanted was to take some "extra" travel companions on the cruise...

I usually stay at the Intercontinental downtown, Hampton Inn or out by the airport near blue lagoon.
