  1. Don't panic. The fact is that you are still far more likely to die in a car accident or die from the regular flu than from this coronavirus. (globally between 290,000 and 600,000 people die every year of the normal flu) The sky is not falling. We have these panics every 5 years or so. Remember SARS, H1N1, Zika and MERS. The coronavirus is not even particularly lethal compared to some of the previously mentioned diseases. It also does not spread as easily as the common flu.

If I had previous health concerns, I would be leery of travelling to that part of the world right now, but as far as worrying about it very much any place else, there are far more dangerous and statistically probable things to worry about.

Wash your hands. Eat healthy food. Work out. Sleep properly. Work on your stress level, and look both ways when you cross the street. Get a flu shot and keep your vaccines updated. Just the increased blood pressure from worrying about this will probably impact your health far more than the coronavirus ever will.

The media loves a good panic. Read what the real experts are saying, not what social media is spouting off about. You can mock me later, and bring this post up to remind me how wrong I was, but if this so called pandemic is still a problem in two months, I will be very much surprised.

  2. Good luck and best wishes to Captain Dexter, he was in command of Seabourn Pride when we took our first cruise with them, as a habitual early riser I would often exchange few words with him as we approached the port.

That cruise also had Nick Hale as CD and Luca as Maitre D, no wonder we were hooked.

Hooked, indeed. The three of them, along with the other crew members of the Pride, made our first cruise (Baltic) such a wonderful experience, that we have mainly stayed with Seabourn ever since.

  3. Just seen on the Seabourn Facebook page news of the announcement in six months' time of the construction of the Legend 2, Pride 2 and Spirit 2. Anyone know anything about it?

The person posting this on Facebook has recanted the story and deleted the posting. As much as many of us wish it were true, it is not, and suspect it will never come to pass with current Seabourn management who apparently believe that bigger is better.

  5. The same three were on our first cruise, too, which was on Seabourn Pride 7-12-2008, Copenhagen to Baltic coupled with a back-to-back cruise to Norway. Totally agree they were tops,as was the maitre d' in the Veranda/Restaurant 2. What a way to start our Seabourn experience!

  6. We enjoyed having Jan as our CD on a couple of Pride cruises. She is quite energetic and a talented singer. We are looking forward to sailing with her on our LA to Sydney segment of the 2014 World Cruise that embarks this coming Saturday.
