  1. Hi Victor, we will be in suite 10001 with our family of 5 on the Jan 13 cruise. Would you have any other pics you could post of the suite? Thanks a lot and hope the room worked well for your sister.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sorry Tfussy, i did not have any other pictures. The cabin isn't very interesting at all, lot's of wasted spaces. The sofa in the living room it's just a converted single bed. Other bunk is on the ceiling. I don't know where they could put the 5th bed, must be something that it's not fixed in the cabin, maybe a riding bed.

I never saw such a small bathroom in a suite. OK, it has a thub, but the sink has the same size as inside cabin, very, but very small. The furniture and the decor seemed way too blend and cheap. The bathrrom was completely made in plastic, not even some marble or other thing in the floor or even at the counter top (plastic resin). At least has a walk in closet. We expected more, at least after all the complaints MSC gave a second Aurea Balcony cabin and it was fairly good, the balcony was even better, with sunloungers and everything.

To be honest it's just a OK cabin, the problem it's they calling a """"GRAND SUITE""""...

  2. Victor ... If you open up the photos you add on shutterfly and right click your mose button on each one at a time and click on copy, you can then right click on the box on CC and paste the photo.

It does seem odd having everything the same colour, the Aft suites are wider but are not as stylish as I thought they would be.

    My last try Sidari :')

I hope i made it this time!

PS: If the images apear, there are the vestibule of the 10.001 center suites.

  3. Victor ... Try Shutterfly.com That is the one I currently use since photobucket started to charge.

Thanks for the photos and T.W.O for adding them.

I see this also has a bed in the ceiling near the TV.

Thank you Sidari, i will try this host next time.

Yes, this is a 5 passenger cabin (with one bath :o). In the end, after lot's of complaints (and since we had the original diagrams showing 2+2) they gave a second cabin in Aurea Experience in the same deck.

I don't know, but looking to the pictures they seems too blend, it looks like there is something missing. It looks outdated, i think we would expect more for a "Grand Suite" (OK, it's not in the YC, but it still is a """GRAND"""" suite...).

I saw the video of the 2+2 and could not understand why they put a conference desk inside a cabin. White walls with that table looks kind off an office, i don't know.

And the Aft Suites they seems regular cabins with large balconies and a window instead of a mirror on the vanity desk. They made all the fuzz about it and it's justa a... regular cabin.

At the end, i think that's why they did not allowed to show the pictures before, the cabins don't match with the rest of the ship. The only cabins with nice color and decor are in the YC area, they look "stylish" and a improvement of Fantasia Class.

  4. CC likes photobucket but photobucket doesn't allow free 3rd party hosting. :(

 I could never imagine that post some pictures would be so confusing and burocratic. I though i could just upload from my files. Thank you for trying to help 2wheelsonly!

  5. Now trying with a new host...

Sorry folks, i give up :)

  6. I am a travel agent who booked 11003 almost a year ago when it was supposed to be a 2bdr. I even called 3 months ago and after being on hold for almost an hour was confirmed again that it would indeed be a 2bdr. I called yesterday, and I obviously know that it is indeed a 1bdr. They offered my money back or to be in two cabins joined. Obviously that has been offered to other pax. I communicated to them that they should communicate this to the people who have booked and was met with crickets. It really is a shame! I would have really preferred to have booked YC as the price was similar when I booked and obviously tht is not avaible anymore. I won’t cancel because I am really looking forward to the ship. I guess if everything is full I can’t expect an upgrade so what would make the situation right? Any ideas?

    Hello Golfusaofcs,

i am having the same issue. I contacted and informed about all this situation. In the first time they told that cabin should have the original layout (2+2), but then i sended an url about this post and the USA Website showing that only 3 center GS would have the 2+2 layout. Then, the day later, they replied me and changed the information on the brazilian website, saying that this info (only 3 cabins were 2+2) was there since the first day of selling (in the mid of 2016). Of course it was a lie, a replied again with the printscreens from april this year, showing that they NEVER informed this issue. After that, they informed that they would send all these informations, including my printscreen, to Italy. This was one month ago...

I sended another email asking for a second cabin (since some friends here received the same compensation) and they did not even replied me.

And the worst, i spoke directly with the Customer Service Manager (Brazil) and he agreed with me that this was wrong. He never called back and do not answer my phone calls no more. It's amazing, they really act like mobsters! They sell lies and act like you were wrong, even if you show all the proofs...

  7. VJ - we are booked in 10001 also. We are a couple with a toddler. Having 2 BRS was important to us on a 8 day/7 night cruise for privacy during nap times and at night. We don't want to be forced to go to bed at 8PM with our little one does - 1 large room would not be comfortable for us. We booked this one thinking it was 2 bed/2 bath as well, but would be ok with 1 bed/1 bath as long as the bedroom has a door. Since you cruise before us, please let us know how the rooms ends up being configured! I don't see what the benefit to the 1 bed/ 1 bath Grand Suite is if it's just a slightly larger Balcony room.

Of course, i will put some pictures here. I will try to post some during the voyage, but i will depend of free wifi ;p

  8. Well, it looks like flexi-dining has been cancelled on Meraviglia:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=53682458#post53682458

I know this doesn't pertain to this thread (as Aurea guests aren't affected), nor to the renderings thread, but I'm assuming that anyone with an interest in Seaside who has a Fantastica booking might be following here and may see this.

If I had skin in the game, I'd start a thread on the subject.

Well, MSC it's really Italian Style, for good, and for bad! hahaha

We all know that italians are very nice people, friendly, with excelent food, marvelous designs, rich history, but when you talk about organization they are really similar to us, brazilians, a completely chaos hahaha.

Maybe they made a step to big with Meraviglia and Seaside being launched in the same year. They are new players in this big game and, at least for organization and logistic, they cannot compete (yet) with Royal, Carnival and NCL. They are growing too fast, but with no organization as other companies have gained in decades.

Carnival, for example, got in the cruise ship mass industry in the 70's, their first ship to surpass the 100GT was the 1996 Destiny, and since then their biggest ship is the Dream Class 130GT from 2009. So, how can MSC that had a fleet of just MSC Rhapsoy and Melody in the beggining of 2000's could build more than a dozen ships in 17 years and most of them now with more than 150GT? If you want to run, first you have to learn how to walk...

I really hope they fix everything for the Seaside inaugural season, cause the things - especially the info - are not starting very well.

  9. MSC USA have removed pictures and diagrams of the 2 + 2 Grand Suite from their website:

    https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Discover-MSC/Cruise-Ships/MSC-Seaside/Staterooms-And-Suites.aspx

MSC UK have disabled the MSC Seaside website for now:

    https://www.msccruises.co.uk/en-gb/Discover-MSC/Cruise-Ships/MSC-Seaside.aspx

Well, probably they are reading this forum. If you did not took your print screen you can do it in others website, like MSC Italia.

Let's see what they are planing now.

  10. What type of compensation would you all see as fair?

    Well, i think that a fair compensation would be;

    1) For booked guests who are taveling in 4 adults = one extra balcony cabin in any category, but with Aurea Experience perks. With that, you give what you promised, 2 rooms, 2 baths and Aurea Perks for all 4.

    2) For booked guests who are traveling in couple = onboard credit in the proportion of the cruise days. For a couple the lack of second room and a bath would not cause such a discomfort, but they should be compensated anyway.

I hope dmccadden can get an answer for this.

  11. VJ ... AS far as I understand from one of the Senior Supervisors at MSC UK, they have not been selling all the GS suites as 2+2 and was shocked to hear that the USA had been doing so when I had a discussion with them about it a week ago.

Well Sidari, the honest thing that they could do now it's call for all the booked guests, inform and arrange a compensation. If UK already now this, other coutries should contact the passengers who bought these cabins assuming the layout is what the image shows.

And let's be reasonable, why these marketing/advertising/sales guys shows that image and the blueprint if only 3 cabins in a 13 cabins category have that layout? If they have posted both blueprints (with one and two bedrooms) since the first day of sale - more than a year ago - they would not have any kind of problem.

I like to think positive, i hope they solve this situation in a fair way.

  12. MSC will just fall back on...

Size, layout and furniture may vary from that shown (within the same stateroom category).

    or

*The image is representative only. Sizes are approximate. Stateroom sizes and configurations are subject to change.

You should know by now. Which stateroom did you book?

Yes, they can say that, but i think we all can agree that this is not acting in good faith with the customers. For me (and i can assume for almost everyone), when they say "layout" it's a bed/sofa location and so on, not a specific element of the product that they show (2+2).

It's almost like when you decide to buy a new car, you see the images, the specs and so on. You buy a 4 doors car and receive a 2 doors car because in the description was "specifications are approximate", You can imagine that the car was 1 inch smaller, could make 2-4% less gas mileage than the official specifications, but you could never imagine that the car (cabin) that you bought have 50% less doors (rooms and bathrooms) than they intend to convince the consumer.

Well, at least for me this situation is very clear, in a Court (in my country) they would loose badly. I know that not everyone thinks the same way, but can you imagine the passengers who bought this configuration (and don't participate in cruisecritic) and arrives on the ship and i'ts only a "regular" one room cabin? And if they are 2 adult couples who want some privacy and just bought this because it was more interesting than two cabins? This could ruin a cruise for sure.

We booked it the 10001 for December. It's a middle GS, but in MSC USA website this number does not shows as a 2+2, so i have no idea of what to expect. We already made the full payment, and now changing for 2 Aurea cabins would not be cost "friendly". In MSC Brazil (were i bought) this info doesn't existe either.

For me, the worst thing is that they did not inform the booked guests with these important info, if it was not because cruisecritic, this info would never be told.

  13. Methinks people should be looking for some legal advice at this stage concerning this matter.

You are 100% correct on this. If i arrive on the ship and there are not two bedrooms and two baths i will demand an compensantion or i will simply sue them. Only MSC USA are saying that just "some" cabins have this layout, and even that, only a couple months ago this was "informed" here, but all the other websites around the world have misleading information, especially MSC Italia an UK. The images shows a 2+2 configuration, if on the ship you don't receive this layout, this is "misleading advertisement". The company has the obligation to inform the consumer accordingly, and i am pretty sure that all laws in the world says that.

For the European fellows, in a quick search i found the Council Directive 84/450that protects the consumers for misleading advertisement.

    "Article 2

For the purposes of this Directive:

    [...]

    2. 'misleading advertising' means any advertising which in any way, including its presentation, deceives or is likely to deceive the persons to whom it is addressed or whom it reaches and which, by reason of its deceptive nature, is likely to affect their economic behaviour or which, for those reasons, injures or is likely to injure a competitor;

    Article 3

In determining whether advertising is misleading, account shall be taken of all its features, and in particular of any information it contains concerning:

    (a) the characteristics of goods or services, such as their availability, nature, execution, composition, method and date of manufacture or provision, fitness for purpose, uses, quantity, specification, geographical or commercial origin or the results to be expected from their use, or the results and material features of tests or checks carried out on the goods or services;

    [...]

    Article 4

    1. Member States shall ensure that adequate and effective means exist for the control of misleading advertising in the interests of consumers as well as competitors and the general public. Such means shall include legal provisions under which persons or organizations regarded under national law as having a legitimate interest in prohibiting misleading advertising may:

    (a) take legal action against such advertising; and/or"

This is just a generic directive, but all countries must have laws in this regard. Were i live this is not just a civil illicit, but may also have criminal consequences if proven intent to cause economic harm to consumers.

  14. In a first glance i can just imagine how hard will be to get one sunlounger. The middle pool looks tiny for 6000 pax. Seaside seems to have much more outside deck space, using a better concept. The "two blocks" in the aft are odd, they looks like a cargo ship, it doesn't match with the sleek and classy bow lines.

MSC doesn't seems worried about creating new things, they let this with RCCL and NCL, but they always add some "italian" style. But that's ok, you just copy what it is good, that's no problem for me :D

  15. I totally understand and agree with your situation, in fact that is why I decided to postpone booking a GS so far. I will also be traveling with another adult couple. Unfortunately that has led to me not having a booking on the sailings I was interested in, and now all the GS are currently fully booked. It will be extremely difficult to now get one of those three 2br/2ba cabins, those lucky enough to get the actual 2br cabins are unlikely to cancel.

For your sailing I don't think you should wait until sailing to see what you get. I don't think there will be any satisfactory resolution at that point. I hope MSC will settle this before final payment and hopefully will send notification out to passengers booked in these cabins prior to this "information release". Hopefully. Luckily you are aware of the situation and can start thinking about other arrangements if the sofa bed is unacceptable. There are still a few interesting separated, but nearby cabin choices available for your sailing, I suspect more may come available as payment comes due. I suggest you contact MSC now and see if they will start working on a resolution to this problem that may be beneficial to you.

The problem is that when i contacted MSC Brazil they assured that the cabins are 2/2, and the differences they have it's because of the size, just that.

We already made the full payment, buyed the airplane tickets, hotels, made our vacation schedule at work, so cancel it's not a viable option for now. I assume that since MSC Brazil is a little bit "away" from these technical issues, they will keep saying that all the cabins are 2/2, just like their website does.

Well, since it will be the first cruise, there will be no cruise friend to confirm thath :( If you don't have time issues, wait for the firsts cruises to confirm all these informations, if not, maybe it's better to book 2 cabins to be safe.

  16. Unfortunately the Italian website also has some print at the bottom, overall a little more obscure than the US site:

Un piccolo numero di cabine ha un letto doppio, due letti singoli e due bagni

    https://www.msccrociere.it/it-it/Informazioni-Crociera/Navi-Da-Crociera/MSC-Seaside/Cabine-E-Suite.aspx

ETA: I see the Brazilian site is missing that line.

    https://www.msccruzeiros.com.br/pt-br/Descubra-MSC/Navios/MSC-Seaside/Cabine-E-Suites.aspx

You are correct Até, altough all the cabins blueprints and renderings (in every MSC website) just shows the 2/2 layout. When you make an ad and put a image, of course there could be smaller differences like square footage and decoration, but simply sell an image of 2/2 and in reality it is 1/1 seems that the seller is acting with ill intent.

The "selling point" of these cabins is the 2/2 factor, i bet that vast majority of the passengers who bought this category was because of the rendering and the blueprint. If not, the average consumer could just buy the ones with the Jacuzzis on the balcony because it has a better price.

Well, for sure there will be a part that will not agree with these points, but for me is quite clear that they made an inexcusable mistake (thecnical and advertising issues) or are acting in bad faith, inducing the passenger to think that a full category have that layout, but instead just 3 cabins have it... So, if in 14 just 3 have it, it would be the right thing to show the layout of the 11 ones that have 1/1.

If they were fair with us since from the start, there would not exist this thread.

  17. Cruise deck plans use the plans supplied by MSC and the generic sizes for the rooms.

Yes, i know. That's why i made prints from their official website, not the generic "cruisedeckplan.com". Especially the booking deckplan suplied by them (in their own website) when i made the booking... ALL they shows 2 bed/ 2 bath. This is not an easy fix situtation for them.

  18. It's strange that only MSC Cruises USA have this "info" (just 3 cabins have the 2 bed/2 bath layout), cause not even MSC Crociere Italia have this in their website. Well, we are traveling in 10001 and we need 2 bed/2 bath because we are 2 adult couples. I have all the print screens of the Italian Website and the Brazilian Website (the one from which i bought). It's already all prepaied, so if arrive in the ship and there is no 2 bed/2 bath it's better they be prepaired for listening some not very polite words. I am ready to have a nice and healthy discussion with these gentlemens. I am not gonna sleep for 21 days in a sofa bed at the living room if they are selling me 2 rooms with BEDS!

It's just the same thing if you buy a 2 bed/2 bath condo and when you arrive you discover that it's just a Kitchenette, come on... "Oh we are very sorry Sir, but the blueprints were incorrect, it's not our fault if you created an expectation above our misleading information".
