  1. I saw the RS Lounge on the Eurodam recently.  Band was really great and played so many different songs and different styles such as disco, what I consider "pop", 80s, oldies, country and western, etc.  Some sets I enjoyed and some I did not.  I really longed for the Rock Room!  There just wasn't enough Rock for me.  The Rock songs they did perform were awesome and I wish I could have heard more.  Again, it's all a matter of preference and this way they appeal to wider audiences.  I did like that the sets were somewhat identified so you knew before going.  I have to give kudos to the band knowing so many songs and types of music and they played every set well and with enthusiasm.

Please, get off the ship and enjoy our beautiful Montreal,.

I have already purchased tickets to see the Basilique Notre-Dame.  I love visiting churches and cathedrals (and Basilicas!) Our friends have never visited a large church so I think they will be surprised.

What else do you suggest we do other than walk in the old town/port area?

    Thank you, JoAnne

  3. Thank you everyone,

We are stopping in Bar Harbor, Maine and several Canadian ports.

I think my confusion came from a 14 day cruise returning to Fort Lauderdale after 7 days where we had to meet in the theatre and exit the ship and go through customs before returning to the ship.

  4. Hello,

What is the procedure for the day we dock in Montreal on a back to back from Boston?  Will we be able to get off the ship early to sightsee or do we have to meet onboard and clear customs before being allowed to disembark?  If staying onboard, does anyone know the time frame?  Thank you.

  5. I am a huge fan of the Rolling Stone Rock Room and think it could be even louder.  (gasp).  That being said, we were on the Rotterdam in November and BB Kings' volume was deafening when we walked by.  We had a room on Deck 4 on the starboard side over the shops and could hear the music and the female lead singer's every word in our room.  The other two times we sailed on the Rotterdam BB Kings wasn't this loud so perhaps it's just this particular group.  I found the volume at the RSRR to be consistent on all three cruises.

Ballroom dancing and quieter dancing music should be available also as that's what HAL is known for.  I enjoy watching others dance.

  6. We drive and park in the midway garage at Port Everglades.  I'd be upset to find out that we are docking at POM and have to pay/find a way back to our car. I guess it's no different than having to get to the FLL airport though.  Everything is subject to change these days and I find it challenging to keep my traveling partners cool and collected when such events occur and not to say I don't get a little wound up too.  ha.

  7. @putums I'm sorry this happened to you, your situation is difficult.  I hope you are able to figure out a way to be together on a flight.   @wil e coyoteThank you for your thoughts and good advice.  We haven't seen the flights NCL is booking us on yet.  Who knows, maybe we will end up together anyway. I suspect we can't find round-trip flights Rome for $450.00 each and will stay with NCL Air.  Hoping things improve by September after the summer rush is over.

  8. I have been trying to also tip those who are working hard, but maybe not receiving extra tips, like the ladies who clean the public bathrooms, workers wiping down door handles, glass and railings, etc.  They are always quite surprised and appreciative.  The crew all over the ship is always outstanding.

  9. I called HAL excursions this afternoon and was on hold a long time but finally got through.  If they can swap the excursions to the new day they will and our reservations will be kept.  If they can't we will be refunded and notified.  I was advised to "sit tight".  We may not hear either way until day of sailing.

We do really enjoy the Music Walk and on this particular cruise, our favorite was the Rolling Stones Rock Room due to the wonderful band.  They varied their music so much that even if you went to the early show each evening they played, it wasn’t the same set.  The BB King Blues Club also had a very good band but we were not too impressed with the female singer.

We were on the cruise just before yours.  I loved, loved, loved the Rolling Stones Rock Room!  The band was awesome and I was in there almost every evening.  I agree with your assessment of Billboard Online and found it painful waiting for them to end so the Rock Room could start.  I know others feel just the opposite so I guess it's what you enjoy for music . . . I say the louder the better and the band made me feel younger.  :]

Fortunately, the protocols (vax, tests, masks and distancing) on a cruise ship provides layers of protect. Lapses in a protocol have been covered by other layers. That's why there have been so few mass outbreaks this year.

That said, you couldn't pay me enough to spend 5 minutes in a ship casino. Phew!

That's a good point about all the layered protocols.  Thank you.

  12. Just off a cruise on the Rotterdam which was awesome.  For the life of me I can't understand why there is a mask requirement in the casino, yet, they allow smoking!  People were maskless, smoking or vaping and exhaling.  The casino is small and has low ceilings.  Isn't coronavirus an airborne transmitted virus?  Ugggghhh.

That being said, it wasn't hard to comply and wear a mask although once in a while I had a brain cramp and forgot when getting up from a meal.

  13. We used Walgreens (rapid antigen) and it went really well. When I booked for four of us it appeared they only had two appointments per 15 minute time slot so I had four appointments over an hour. We showed up at the drive-thru and were all tested within ten minutes. Very easy and we had our results within an hour. I cannot tell you how much I stressed over the whole process as we were driving three days before sailing and had to figure out where we’d be on a certain day/time. But now that I’ve done it I won’t be so worried next time!

  14. Thank you Tuolumne Couple, I enjoyed your post too.  I cannot wait to board a ship - you are right, the excitement you feel when you walk across that gangplank . . . and now the anticipation of sailing once again, won't that be so wonderful and to think I took it all for granted.  I will have a new appreciation when I once again board a ship.  May things improve worldwide.  As my mother always says "don't wish your life away" but I can't wait for this all to be in our past.  Here's to better days!

  15. For me it depends who I am cruising with.  If it's my DH and another couple I would choose the 2,200 +/- ships - I love that size, just big enough with good entertainment options.  If I'm with my adult children or my crazy group of girlfriends I'd choose the larger ships because of the entertainment options and fun - but the huge drawback is the amount of people, the need to schedule events, be in line early and elevators.
