I am unsure of which one of these tour operators to choose from in Barbados. Do any of you out there on the boards have any recommendations for me. I have read some reviews that were pos/ old neg on Glory Tours but not much on Scenicbarbadostours. What I found on them were good reviews. This would be the first time using a tour operator that was not ship sponsored so I really want it to be a good experience. We have sailed eight cruises and never went outside the cruise lines!

mostly I can recommend that you check out http://www.barbados.org and check into the tours pages. Both sets of jeep safari people are contracted with the cruise line (I think).. so they would be cutting there own throat by selling you a tour without going through the cruiseline.. Having said that.. it can and has been done before, you just have to have them meet you somewhere other than the port.

 

 

 

Not sure about kayaking.. You will need to check the same site for that as well.

Barbados is a pretty flat island and a jeep is not a necessity. The roads are narrow and there are many Mack trucks and serious accidents.

Thanks Sail 7 but I was trying to get a handle on what the price would be for what we want to do ahead of time. If it is too pricey we will just do a half day trip with the ship tour. Obviously if we wait till that day to find a driver and the price is too high it will be too late to join the ships tour.

We used Sanjay (an independent taxi driver). We've been in Barbados twice and had Sanjay drive us both times. He will customize your tour wherever you would like to go. He also offers suggestions. We found him to be reasonable as well.

We were in Barbados this past December. We wanted to see some things that were not part of standard tours. After recommendations from this board, we used Tyronne Griffith, to take us around. He did not disappoint. He took us wherever we wanted to go and was extremely knowledgeable.

Depending on what month you go Carlisle bay you can find many boats but the best is Skipper Vance from November to May

will be in barbados on destiny 10/15/06 and want to either kayak or do a jeep tour, and dont want to do through the ship. i know we are kinda late!! but any suggestions or tour operators that you can recommend. thanks!!:)
