Which did you prefer? The land portion or the cruise portion of your trip to Alaska and why? We can only do one of the two this time and trying to decide which. Looking for opinions from those who have been!

You read over and over how much people love their cruises to Alaska and sometimes go back numerous times. Has anyone gone to Alaska but not loved it? Maybe not even liked it? Why did you feel that way?

I would really like to see these also! Anyone have pictures yet???? Very anxious :)

We've settled that we are going R/T Seattle either via the Crown Princess or Westerdam. Both itineraries include Glacier Bay, Juneau, and Ketchikan. The Westerdam includes Sitka and the Crown Princess Skagway. Hows in port are pretty similar. I am looking for some advice on which ship you would choose and why? We would be happy with both itineraries so looking for advice on food, balcony rooms, entertainment, public areas for viewing, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am only a few days into planning and already overwhelmed with options! :eek:

To those of you who have cruised Alaska what would do different? Would you leave from a different port, do a different excursion, book different room type? I am hoping to learn from those of you who have been and maybe wished they would have done something different on their cruise!

Looking at our budget a balcony from Vancouver doesn't seem possible. It is more expensive to begin with (the one we would want anyway) and the cost to get to Vancouver would have to be figured in. Doing the math we were looking at an additional $600 plus for Vancouver, which I think would be put to better use on excursions and a balcony. But suggestions & thoughts are appreciated!

We are looking at the Westerdam round trip Seattle with Glacier Bay trip for 2016 the week before Memorial Day. I have a couple questions. First, how is the weather that time of year, especially going from Seattle? Second, we have the option of leaving from Vancouver but would have to give up our balcony. Our though is a balcony is more important than departure point. What is everyone's opinion on this? It will be our first Alaskan cruise and we want to make it the best we possibly can. We also like the port of Sitka, it looks really neat. Thoughts on that are appreciated as well as I have not been able to find out as much info on that port.
