  1. Dis anyone ever see people who brought their own small canopy? (four legs and a cover type - looks like a tent without walls) Will Carnival allow us to set it up? I'm thinking about buying one to take with us. I figure it will give us shade and allow air flow.

  2. We stayed in room 6232 in 2014 and LOVED it! The long balcony provided 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs, and a small table. We were fortunate enough to get it again for a sailing in 2018. That room being available was the main reason we booked again. It's hard to get. Can't wait!

  3. On the Carnival Pride, there were two comedy shows hosted each night. The early one was family-friendly and the late one was adults only.

We are on the Norwegian Escape this time and are wondering if they offer the same with their comedy shows. Experience, anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Yep. Lol This is our second cruise. We were on the Carnival Pride 2 years ago and loved the whole cruising experience. Having our room, food, and entertainment all in one place was amazing!

Thanks for the info on O'Sheehans. Is there typically much of a wait for a table around 5?

Getting so excited to go! :)

  5. Thanks for the feedback. We have kids and are taking them to two of the shows. I think we will just eat early somewhere else instead of the main dining room those nights. We planned to eat, see the show, then drop the kids in the camp so we can have some adult time.

Which places are open for complimentary eating around 5 other than the buffet?

  6. We booked shows that start at 7pm on three of our nights on the Escape, but because the online dinner reservations only start at 5:30, the system won't let us book a table. I called and was told we'd have to wait until we were on board. I was also told that they don't open for dinner until 5:30, so we can't even go a bit earlier.

First, why would Norwegian make the scheduling so tight!? I'm pretty sure we aren't the only ones looking to have a nice dinner and then a show.

Secondly, did anyone else run into this problem?

I have two worries. We will book dinners as soon as we get on board, but a 5:30 time won't allow us enough time to eat and make the show.

Or, we can get to the show for 7pm, but the seats will be lousy.

    Any feedback or experience?

  7. Thanks for the info. I know it will be crowded, but at least I also now know that there is storage under the bed. As for the outlet bar, we tried that on our Carnival cruise and it was taken when bags were checked. We never got it back. As long as we have an outlet, we are good.

Anyone know about laundry? On Carnival, it was the only thing that wasn't able to be paid with our room key. We needed a bunch of quarters. No one, even customer service, could sell us any, so we had to pay for the laundry service.

  8. We are a family of four and are very much looking forward to our cruise on the Escape early next year. We booked an inside family stateroom. It looks REALLY small, but we know we won't spend much time in there, so we went with that. My questions are...

Is there storage for suitcases under the bed? We will have at least three.

Are there outlets for charging devices? How many?

Is there a TV in the room?

    Thanks for the info. :)

  9. I read this should thread before cruising. I got back yesterday. Here are my thoughts... And thanks to everyone for helping me prepare! :)

Brought and used... Thanks to this forum:

    Nightlight in bathroom

Shoe holder to hold many things in our room

    Flashlight

Lanyards then went to casino to get a hole punched in the card

Over the shoulder bag to carry stuff around ship

    Bonine

    Unexpected:

Had to buy antacid in shop. Didn't realized ship could cause such stomach gas pains. Suffered three days until I thought of Tums. Instantly better.

    Wish I'd brought:

A battery operated alarm clock. Guest services did not follow through on a wake up call and we slept an hour and a half into a five hour port stop.

And... I overpacked nicer clothes. We really spent all day in comfy clothes of swimsuits and cover ups, then dressed nicer for supper. Didn't need the nicer day clothes.

  10. We just booked our first cruise for August 2014 last week. So unbelievably excited! In fact, I've actually been literally dreaming of this vacation the last two nights. It's going to be a long year!

It took three days, but I read every post on the 78 page thread! Such great advice. It's our 10th anniversary and we are bringing our two boys with us. Looking forward to an incredible experience. Thanks for all the pointers! :)
