  1. We went to Andro's fish fry and it was ok. Price was cheap as we paid $3 for 10 conch fritters. That was actually enough for both of us. They tasted ok as I felt there could have been more conch in them.

Next time we will try the cracked conch or conch strips.

My wife liked the canned champagne punch there

  3. If you rent a jeep or golf cart, head to the lighthouse on the other end of the island. Stop at the John Glenn capsule on the way. That's the 2 biggest sights to see here. On the way back, swing into downtown Cockburntown along duke Street and stop at the Sandbar for lunch. Outdoor seating overlooking the beach ran by two women who work their fannies off. For a real local flavor, there's Barbies up a couple of blocks on Front Street, very "casual" and local in clientele. I haven't eaten there but longer staying tourists rave about Guanahani's at the Bohio Dive Resort, a tad expensive but th echef preps everything fresh. And for burgers, and a divebar scene, stop at the Poop Deck. There's also a nice little place in a patio at the Saltraker Inn, if you want a quiet environ.

Back to the sights, When you return to the cruise center (or before you venture out, head to your right out of th eDufry shop and go past the whale statueand excursion pier. Shore becomes a bit rocky but you can climb over these easily and head for the eastern tip of the island. Along the way you'll see numerous conch shells in various stages of fading. Restuarants dump their empties along here. There's a similar conch graveyard down from the lighthouse in an unfinished aboandon resort/development. But unless you're on your own driving, a taxi won't take you there.

Safe to assume these are not walking distance?

  4. Hi everyone,

We will be visiting the Eastern Caribbean in Sept on Carnival Dream.

This will be our first time visiting this port.

What are the must sees and must do's?

Are there any local tour companies that you can recommend as opposed to booking the excursion on the ship?

We also like doing the island tours but don't want to end up on one of those that just hit the tourist spots where they have the contracts to stop at.

We ran into this when we were in St. Maarten. The tour was boring b/c the tour operator just seemed like he was going through the motions.

I forgot to mention that we are in our early 40's if that helps for suggestions
