We are considering a Tahiti cruise. Does Windstar offer a drink package and what is the charge for unlimited internet service?
-
We have traveled 3 times with Odyssey (not Egypt) and dress has always been casual. I typically wear khakis with a knit shirt.

Thank you. Very helpful.

Does anyone know what the additional charge is for Viking Air should you wish to extend your stay in a city at cruise conclusion?

Ken, sorry for the late response on this. I can't begin to rave enough about our Antarctica experience on the Quest. My husband and I sailed the Buenos Aires to Santiago route in January 2017. All the ports were fascinating, from the big cities to the remote Patagonian towns. Highlights in addition to Antarctica itself were the Falklands (journey to Volunteer Point to see the magnificent King Penguins), Punta Arenas (Magdalena Island expedition) and the charming town of Castro, Chile (walking on our own).
We hired a wonderful guide for a city walking tour in Buenos Aires and also did a wine tour at the end of the trip in the Casablanca Valley near Santiago. Please feel free to email me if you'd like contact information.
Here's a link to my blogs from Antarctica which you might find helpful. I also have stories and photos from every port listed under their respective countries on the Destinations page.

Whichever itinerary you choose, you will have a fabulous trip!

Totally agree. Volunteer Point is a must and should be booked early. Magadalena was fun to see so many ***** penguins although we did have a problem with the excursion boat. Great little towns to wander around. I hope to do an extensive Patagonia tour when things settle down.

I had a V4 guarantee and I took the second up sell offer for a penthouse. For 14 days, after Seabourn applied the original onboard booking discount and I got my travel agent’s discount, it came out to ~ $1700 USD per person. Wondering if that’s truly worth it. There were 6 penthouses on offer for an upgrade, and 5 were snapped up the first day, so I guess a lot of people thought it was. Now, if they’ll just let us on the ship in Sydney...

We just returned from a 21 day Antarctica cruise and stayed in a Penthouse. Whether it’s worth it is an individual consideration. We were floored by it and loved it especially for 21 days. -

You get some free minutes if you have sailed Seabourn before and are part of their club. You may have received some free minutes as a part of a promotion when you booked; check your booking info or ask your TA. Seabourn sells an unlimited package for $399 per voyage, a good deal for a long voyage. And as SLSD wrote, the connection and speed are poor, among the worst at sea, sadly. Same as Cunard, for instance.
Sorry but disagree with your assessment of the speed and connection of the internet on board. We completed the 21 day Antarctica and Patagonia Cruise where we purchased the unlimited internet package for $399. The connectivity was amazing and can’t recall a single instance of having an issue. I thought for sure it would be slow simply because of the remoteness but it wasn’t. More problems with the tv than with the internet.

We received an email today notifying that any passenger that has been to China within the last 14 days will be denied boarding on our upcoming Antarctica Cruise.

You can transfer the booking to your agent and they can make the before/after arrangements And maybe able to score some goodies. In future You can also put a deposit down on an open booking whilst aboard and book specific cruise later, still getting the 5% Discount.

Thank you for this information.

I booked my 3 week cruise while on a Seabourn Cruise last year. By booking on board, we received a 5 percent discount. All I received from my TA was a bon voyage note.

I use several travel agents. I ask for quotes before booking to determine who I book with. Sometimes with Seabourn I have received a $300 obc from my TA, and sometimes not. Depends on the cruise.
Thanks. I’ve recently started to book through an agent after previously scheduling directly with the line. -
Interested in your perspective since we will embarking as you disembark in BA.

Is it customary to receive an OBC or some type of complimentary offering after booking a very expensive 3 week cruise ? Not sure what, if any, expectation one should have.

I set a timer on my phone with a few minutes less for travel time back to the laundry. That seems to work. If there is a finished load, I put it in the basket. None of us has an expectation that the machine is ours permanently. The only time I hesitate is when the wash is finished and needs to go into the dryer. I'm afraid that I might shrink someone's nighty. Bottom line, put it in the basket. I don't expect it to be folded. Folded is a bonus.
Don’t worry about shrinkage. Two weeks of eating and drinking will cause shrinking anyway,.

We did not, but I do know the spots book up pre-cruise. Kayaking is totally dependent on weather and sea conditions. I would say the first several kayaking excursions on our cruise were canceled. I think that's why people tend to book all spots in advance to ensure they actually get the opportunity.
Thanks. I booked for one trip and will give it a try. I’ll let the fates decide since I’m afraid that I’ll regret if I don’t try it. -

We were on the holiday Antarctica cruise last year and no health forms were required. It's a fabulous trip and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
Hi mamapirk, We are going in early February. Did you kayak, and if so, would you recommend it?
-
We are scheduled for the February 2, 2020 cruise and have received nothing regarding a health form. The recently received package that was emailed gave significant information on this trip with nothing regarding current health.

If it is not to much trouble, could you send me the information? If that violates anything here, I can give you my email address. I would also love to hear how it went after you return as well. You must be getting very excited ! Thanks and have a great trip !
The company is 01Argentina Travel Agency. Their reviews are excellent and they were very responsive in our correspondence. Good luck! -
We are going to the Falls from Buenos Aires in late January prior to our Antarctica Cruise. We booked through an Argentinian company for a 3 day and two night tour with flights, hotel and guide for less than $700. Highly rated reviewed company. We are arriving back in BA two days prior to cruise.
-
On our next cruise we have 300 free minutes of internet. Can we upgrade to unlimited for a fee for our 21 day cruise?
-
Thanks to Ken G, we ordered our Parka’s and rented our boots through the link he provided. Very easy.

Ken G, Thank you for this information. It’s extremely helpful. Yes. I am a photographer. I use a Nikon D3200 for the last 5 years. We travel frequently and can’t imagine not documenting my trips. Again, thanks for the web site.

Ken G, I will be on Seabourn Quest a month after you traveling to Antarctica from Buenos Aires. I have a question unrelated to photography. I’ve booked various excursions but see nothing on the Seabourn web page regarding the rental of boots which I know is recommended. Did you receive a separate notification assuming you have also rented?
