  1. In answer to the original question I will not be cancelling. Whilst it is annoying to see charges increasing I take a different view with regards to the DSC and tips, probably because I am from the UK.

Reasons, in no particular order are:

Do not understand US tipping conventions

There are so many staff who make my cruise enjoyable who I do not meet

I pre-pay DSC and will not remove

If I stay in suite will tip butler and steward

I may tip concierge if make use of services

Hope to use casino winnings to pay tips!

Will tip extra to wait staff in speciality restaurants if like service, same for bar staff

On NCL I like to buy extra credit, $100+ or so each month so that I am hedging currency moves and, hopefully will get a small refund to my credit card at the end of the cruise

It is a holiday, I want to enjoy it without worrying about the cost. I factor in the extras in my calculations to decide whether I can afford it. It is my choice.

Well said! I agree, it is my vacation and will make sure I do not have to worry about money. DH and I always make sure to bring extra to tip for the exceptional service we receive.

  2. Absolutely loved Atlantis!! I did the dolphin encounter and beach day. It was worth every penny! I went alone as my hubby did not feel well that day and felt very safe on paradise island. ImageUploadedByForums1420305836.358182.jpg.a8f1db7c9ceb3289f218ffa048215453.jpg

  3. Man, no need to be rude! I would never block someone else from taking pics or enjoying the view. I use them more for selfies and video of our cabins as well as playing games or reading. I have a very nice, very small camera for the excursions. Way to be jerks on what is supposed to be a helpful site!

  4. It was many little things but mostly guest services and how they dealt with our issues. We were moved from a handicap accessible cabin to a regular balcony cabin with no communication and my hubby has cerebral palsy. He needs his electric wheelchair. They admitted it was their fault but since the ship was at max capacity kept telling us that there was nothing they could do. All we asked for was the difference in what we paid for the hc cabin and the less expensive balcony. They still refused. Then during rough seas DH fell and got hurt in the bathroom because there were no handrails, and we informed them of the incident and again heard, there is nothing we can do for you.

That was the worst treatment we have ever had anywhere.

NCL, Getaway specifically, is not handicap accessible. I went to try the ropes course and play mini golf and my hubby could not come with me. Their elevators don't go that high. He was not happy, neither was I.

  5. My hubby and I took our very first cruise on NCL in Dec and it was very disappointing. It completely turned DH off to cruising. I'm trying to find out if Princess is solo cruiser friendly or if I need to find a travel buddy? Any input would be greatly appreciated! ☺️
