  1. If it is refundable OBC you will get the unused portion back at the end of the cruise. If it is non-refundable the best (only?) real option is the casino and you will take a 3% hit.

    6&8

Hmm, that's weird, we had excess non-refundable OBC at the end of our recent cruise on Epic. Asked at guess service there and they told us we can't use it for normal gratuities NOR at the casino. We can use it for additional gratuities, though, so that's what we did.

  2. When I was considering a 9:55am flight, I called NCL and the lady said the earliest officially recommended flight is 10:30am. She said that 9:55am should be OK with self-disembark, but that's a far cry from 8am. It may be possible that they'll let you disembark that early and there's transportation waiting, but I wouldn't count on it.

  3. I guess one more thing to watch out for! Seems NCL is a bit disorganized when it comes to shuttles. Comment in an older review threads from a few years ago said the opposite --NCL announced that the shuttle will go to town center on the daily but it went to the train station!

  4. Thank you. I've been following your reviews. It's something I look forward to each day.

Very interesting about the shuttle. I've read several previous CC'er said they took the $12 shuttle to the train station from the Epic, so that's consistent with the info on the Dailies. Do you think it's possible that there may have been 2 different kinds that either go to town or the train station? We were counting on the train station shuttle option as well (planning to do the same thing you did) in a couple of weeks. I hope they haven't discontinued it!

Just in case they have, what time did you leave the ship at Livorno? Did you see a lot of taxis about then?

  5. I just contact the Flam railroad about if I purchased tickets through Rail Europe would they be honored hear is their response. It is crap shoot how lucky do you feel? Either buy through the cruise line that charges you an arm and a leg or take your chances. Since we are visiting Geiranger and Olden before Flam can't find out if there is a train station in either one of those area to buy ticket at before we get to Flam.

Yes, we do honor tickets bought through Rail Europe. However, they do not guarantee that you will get on the train. We keep account of the numbers of tickets sold at the Flåm railway station, and only these will guarantee you to get on the train.

Glad I check it out before I bought the tickets.

Buying a ticket from other stations doesn't guarantee the seat on a particular Flam train either according to the tour guidebook Rick Steve's Scandinavia.
