  1. Thank you for starting this thread and for any information you can give after your cruise! We have never sailed in a suite before, and decided to splurge on one for our 20th anniversary on the Sun.  I want to take advantage of everything we can since it might just be a "once in a lifetime" expereince for us.

  2. I've enjoyed reading your report! We were on this cruise March 12-19 and it was about a near perfect trip for us.  I had to laugh when I read about your "lemon Pledge" hollandaise! The same thing happened to me.  On the surf and Turf night, the hollandaise that was served with the meal was SO delicious, so the next morning I ordered an eggs benedict so I could get some more.  Huge mistake!! It was sickly sweet and nasty the next morning.  Why isn't it delicious in the morning? We love the Ruby and are going on a 10 day to Alaska on her in June.   I hope you have many cruises in the future and continue writing reports!

  3. I don't have experience cruising with a 3 y/o, but my own kiddos have been cruising for 10 years (started when they were 5 and 7) and Princess absolutely spoils them.  We have only cruised on Disney and Princess, and my kids prefer Princess kids clubs by a wide margin. On one cruise, the workers in the kid's club knew my daughter loved to sing and dance, so they set it up so she my was able to go onstage during the evening show and sing with the entertainers! You will have a wonderful time and your babe will be loved and well cared for.

  4. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I'm looking forward to hearing about your next cruise in June. All of your reviews are so well written and entertaining.

My husband and I also came home with Covid after our Alaskan cruise in June.  On the plane ride home I suddenly couldn't smell anything and I knew we were in trouble! Oh well. As the days go by, you will continue to improve.  It took us about 6 weeks to feel 100% again.

  5. My 2 cents (which means nothing!): I tested positive as soon as we got home from our Discovery Alaska cruise.  On the plane ride home I suddenly was unable to smell anything, and I knew soomething was wrong.  Over the next few days I was very ill, and am still dealing with side effects.  My kids were fine, husband felt a bit ill but wasn't positive when we got home.  Looking back, I have the terrible feeling that I had COVID for most of the week and just didn't realize it.  I was very tired all week, and I blamed it on time zones and just finishing a diffucult school year and finally being able to relax.  My husband was also passing a kidney stone for the first few days of our trip, so I was focused on helping him.  The only symptom I had was extreme exhaustion on the ship.  I didn't get really sick until I got home.  I'm sure I passed it on to many without knowing.  We wore masks anytime we were around others, and I was super diligent about washing hands and hand sanitizer.  You just can't out run it forever.  When I was so sick, I said I would never cruise again because I truly felt so bad.  But now I feel better, and I'm ready to go again.  Both Princess transfers from and to the airport were completely packed, and many were coughing. If you are cruising, there's a chance you'll get Covid.  There's also a chance you will have a perfectly wonderful vacation, like my kids did.  We saw amazing sights and made memories.  I just wish I wouldn't have gotten so sick.

We departed from Los Angeles with the cruise visiting Victoria and terminating in Vancouver. It’s a very simple app to complete, maybe 4 or 5 simple questions.  Prior to a recent change it was more complicated because you had to provide a quarantine plan. That no longer is the case.

Quick question (If you know!): If you are traveling with minors, do you complete their answers on your app or do they need to download the app on their phones also?  Thanks!

  7. I hope they stay in Texas. We sailed out of Galveston Christmas 2013 (our first Princess cruise!) and I just booked the Ruby for spring break 2023. Texas is drivable for us, which is so nice. And we fell in love in Houston once upon a time, so many of our early dates and favorite restaurants are there, and it’s fun to reminisce when we are in that area.

  8. I'm sending all good thoughts and love to you both on the Ruby! I was so excited to see that you were cruising again...I've been reading your blog for years and I enjoy reading about your adventures. It's extra exciting to read your blog in "real time" as it's happening, so I felt lucky to see this post and know that you were starting your adventures again.  Take care of yourself and we will be here when you are ready to come back!

  9. We just received our medallions in the mail for our 8/3 cruise on the Royal.  Both medallions are blue with white lanyards.  I'm elite and my husband is platinum.  On our cruise in December on the Regal, my medallion was black.  I honestly don't care to flaunt my status, but I do like getting on the ship early and I like going to the elite lounge if they have a shrimp fountain.  😂 I called Princess to ask this exact question, and the agent who helped me said that the "color" of the Royal cruise is blue and everyone's medallion will be that color.  ??? She did not seem like a real authority on the issue, so I thought I would ask here.  This is only our second medallion cruise so I feel a bit like a newbie.  If I did get the wrong medallion, who should I call to fix the situation?   Thanks for your help!
