  1. Side note...

As far as time at the table, it really varies. My family of four was there for as little as an hour with dessert to as much as almost two hours with no dessert.

My mom and I went without my dad and brother and, not kidding, it took 45 minutes tops (including eating!). I was amazed at how fast our waiters were that night!:D

  2. Just got off the Glory as well... DD of scottohiocpa

I really enjoyed almost everything I ordered in the MDR. The only thing I didn't finish was the Crab Soup, because as my dad said, there really wasn't much crab in it. But you'll only hear good things starting now...

    Appetizers:

Pork Tenderloin Tarts with Kale- SO good. Get these.

    Flatbread for the table-great flavor

    Shrimp Cakes- Mmm

Crab Cake- I've had better, but fine.

Minestrone-Not like Olive Garden minestrone at all (lol), but I liked it almost as well.

    Entrees:

Herb Roasted Chicken-good flavor, skin was a little crunchy, but still tasty.

Tiger Shrimp Creole-I like this a lot

    Salmon Cakes-These were REALLY good.

    Tilapia-Good

    Jumbo Shrimp-REALLY good also

Lobster and Shrimp- I only ate the shrimp (traded the lobster tail for my brother's shrimp), but those were good.

Island Curry- only for St. Thomas port of call- perfect curry taste

    Desserts:

WCMC-Omygoodness, I would consider getting fat for this stuff.

Baked Apple (not with Nutella) with hazelnut-This is a diet dessert, so it basically tasted like a warm apple with some cinnamon.

Fruit Plate-my only way of getting grapes and strawberries, so I was happy.

    Other:

    Ratatouille-good, my mom loved it

Cranberry bread- one of the rotating breads in the bread basket-try this if you get it!! I hate cranberries and thought this was great!

DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!! The food is great! Really the experience is what you make of it.

  3. My family and I are going to St. Thomas via Carnival Glory in a few weeks. I really, really want to try paddle boarding, but I don't think I want to do the Carnival excursion version ($70).

Can anyone recommend a cheaper place to rent paddle boards or that has an excursion that is offered at a lower price than Carnival's?

Also, is there any place on Sapphire Beach to rent one?

  4. It is a 4 hour minimum, we ended up doing 5 hours. I emailed him and gave him a little background about us, and what we would like to do. I didn't have anything specific, I just went with it. So when he picked us up, he ran by a few things to us, and it sounded good, so we agreed. Along the way he gave us a few options, again we went with it. We were not disappointed:) I emailed him about a month in advance. He says he has bookings as far advanced as next April (that is not saying there is nothing available this year) ..hope it works out for you!

I emailed him and unfortunately he was booked solid since we're only 2 weeks out. I definitely still appreciate the tip though, I will keep it in mind next time we go on a cruise.:D

  5. San Juan- had the best tour ever, here in San Juan. He is currently #38 on trip advisor of things to do in San Juan. We came here before and did the tours in front of the dock. But after research on here and Trip Advisor, I was so lucky to find him. He gave us a little bit of everything, rain forest, art, history, beach, and food all in the short amount of time we were there in a comfortable van complete with air conditioning, snacks, and beverages. Bonus was we didn't even have to take our camera, he took pictures of our group and the sites we visited and emailed them shortly after. Definitely above and beyond our expectations.

Thanks for the review, we are going on the Glory very soon and we're SO excited! I am very interested in this tour. How many hours did you do or is the default 4? Did you pick what you toured or did you have the guide pick for you? Also, (last question... for now :)) how far in advance did you book? Thanks!!!

  6. If the pumpkin pie is a dessert, I've never liked their pumpkin pie. Tastes like instant Jello. But if it's the Cinnamon squash pumpkin cheddar potpie veggie entree it's very good.

Didn't see that on my Imagination cruise.

I am thinking about getting the pumpkin pot pie entrée. Sorry I wasn't more specific, I forgot that they had a regular pumpkin pie too... maybe I was trying to forget about it because when I had it, I also thought it tasted terrible.

As to why you didn't see it, I think they took the entrée off the menu when they introduced the American Table, but it looks like they may have brought it back. That's probably a good sign as far as taste goes!:)

  7. I'm going on the Glory in a couple weeks and I've heard some mixed reviews about the American Table menu. If you've tried it, what is your:

    Favorite Appetizer?

    Favorite Entrée?

    Favorite Dessert?

    Least Fav. Appetizer?

    Least Fav. Entrée?

Least Fav. Dessert (if that can exist;))

Please feel free to choose more than one item per category or to add any other comments.

  8. Nine cruises and I've never experienced this. While I've walked past an open door and perhaps glanced in without breaking stride, I've never walked into a room that wasnt mine without an invite.

If there are organized tours prior to embarkation, and given the quick turnaround time the staff has to prep the rooms, thats one thing. However, the last person that should be in a room prior to embarkation is a crew member to make sure all is ready.

Again, perhaps I'm not clear on the concept, but the practice seems at best tacky and at worst, creepy. To each their own, and preferably their own cabin.

I'm not quite sure why it matters that you have never experienced this... but I'd like to point out that it's VERY possible that in one of those nine cruises, someone besides your room steward was in your room after embarkation began and before you got to the room to *gasp* look around. And you certainly don't seem to be tainted.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, but it really bothers me that people care this much if someone does a quick room check! How selfish can you be?

This reminds me a lot of the people who don't like sharing family-style utensils. I understand that it's a psychological issue (as in, a different concept of boundaries not as in a crazy person problem), but I don't have it, so I can't understand the people that do.

  9. Hi OP!

    Since you're asking...

It wouldn't bother me one bit if people wanted to check out a neighboring room... BEFORE any one put their stuff in it. The way I see it, the cabin, even if you paid for it, isn't yours until you step on the ship. If there's nothing to take and the person doesn't touch anything, then what could possibly be the problem? Are you afraid of the bad vibes they might leave? Maybe the person left Noro-virus in your room?

Now, in the case of this review (which I have been reading and enjoying, so I am probably a little biased), this young man entering "someone else's" room got a great pic, made us more knowledgeable about the different rooms, and didn't hurt anybody... so what's the big deal?

  10. Husband here,

If you look at the picture of the Governor General's Residence, the flag in the middle is the flag of the Gov. General, the Queen's representative to the Bahamas. It only flags when the GG is present. Conversely, if the Queen was in the Bahamas, her own personal flag would be flying on that middle pole. If neither were there at the time, the flag staff would be empty.

Thanks! I will definitely check this out when we go.:D

  11. I love your review, it's got a GREAT mix of pictures and explanations. I'm only on Page 2 so far (gotta save some of the fun for tomorrow!), but I really like the quick culture/history lessons... like the no beer until 6 on the day you went! Can you ask your husband how he knew that the representative was home, (Sorry if someone already asked that) because I want to impress my family with my knowledge. =]

We will be going on the Glory in about a month!!!
