  1. Three times on Breakaway, and my fourth time I will be helping to bring her to you in New Orleans from New York early November! Here's why I like the ship a lot:

    * Rarely seems crowded. Only around the pool with too little space there. (Plenty of other space just not next to pool.)

    * Spice H2O is a great quiet place for adults on sea days

    * Wide variety of entertainment. Howl at the Moon is a favorite (will play several evenings, goes late), and for 80s Rock n Roll and Broadway show fans, Rock of Ages is great fun (not for kids under 15 or so, mature themes)

    * Food, food, and more food - wonderful variety among dining rooms and O'Sheehans (no extra charge) and then gets even better with specialty restaurants (upcharge)

    * Margaritaville bar has unique drinks. The food there is an upcharge but it's really good if you go hungry and ready to eat a lot.

    * Kids and adventurous adults will enjoy the slides, ropes course, and climbing wall.

    * Great lounges and entertainers for the older crowd

    * Great parties at H2O in the evenings, bring the kids at the start and then perhaps Grandpa/Grandma will get them in bed so some can stay out later! (Same for Howl at the Moon perhaps)

Is there any charge for the water slides, ropes course, and climbing wall?

  2. "KCWingWalker, I see you were on the Triumph Carnival cruise. That was our first cruise 5 years ago. We have not done another one and wasn't sure if we ever would. We really did not enjoy it. We were bored during the day. It was in February so it was too cool for us to enjoy sitting on the deck or the pool. We didn't think the food was that either. However we did enjoy the stops!"

Funny. Our last cruise was on the Triumph, two years ago, and our upcoming is next month on the Jade...in a mini-suite. We had an ocean suite on the Triumph. I'm curious as to how they compare.

  3. I forgot my prescription medication at home and didn't realize it until the first sea day. To my pleasant surprise i saw a huge sign greeting us in Mexico that read "PURSKRIPTION DRUGS SOLD HEAR" bingo...problem solved...no co-pay!!! the only problem was some of the pills were broken. i dont really remember much of the cruise after that point but my legs and heart never felt stronger..

This actually made me laugh out loud. :D

  4. We're new to NCL (two previous cruises with Carnival). We were looking to try another line just to see what else is out there. With the KSF promo, NCL beat the competition's price by over $800 for a comparable stateroom and itinerary. And then there's the UBP, which was truly FREE when we booked back in March. We even managed to rebook our traveling companion's interior room in July to include the UBP. Yes, they were charging the 18% gratuity at that point, but his room category had fallen enough in price to cover the $60-something charge. We can't wait to sail next month.

  5. Congratulations on your weight loss! Can you share what your current regimen is?

It's pretty simple. I have a weight-loss shake for breakfast, milk and cereal for lunch, a balanced dinner, and a snack or two. Oh, and lots of water! I've done pretty well so far at keeping it between 1000 and 1200 calories per day.

  6. Thank you all for your kind words and support! The trick for me was to start off slow by eliminating certain foods first, as opposed to diving head-first into a strict diet plan. I worked my way down to my current regimen. The first six weeks or so was tough, but once I started to adjust to it, the weight just started to melt away. I wish you all the best on your own weight-loss journeys!

  7. That is amazing! How did you do it? Always looking for peoples success stories.

Diet modification and portion control. I cut out the junk (ice cream, cookie dough, chocolate milk) first. Then I started serving myself smaller portions, and worked down to a diet shake for breakfast, cereal and milk for lunch, and a balanced dinner, with a small snack or two thrown in. It also helps that I have a three-year-old and a nine-month-old to chase. :D

  8.

We were on Deck 11 in the Amethyst Penthouse Suite.....11512.

The tub in the suite is TDF! Huge window, deep tub. fabulous. The shower has a rainforest shower head and is just as amazing. Huge window there as well. It is an experience to be bathing and showering and looking out at nothing but sea. CLOSE THE SHADES IF YOU ARE IN PORT!

We were really hoping for one of those two-bedroom suites on our cruise in November, but it was a bit beyond our budget, so we went with a mini-suite just down the hall. Judging by the videos I've seen posted, I am absolutely in love with the tubs and showers in the SC and dying to actually see them in person. I'm trying to decide if it would be totally creepy to ask one of my neighbors if I can check out their bathroom.

  9. I think you made a good choice. Deck 10 is sandwiched between two other decks consisting of nothing but staterooms, so I would think it would be a lot quieter and therefore more desirable than a room on deck 5.

We are sailing on the Jade in November. One of the two rooms we've booked is an interior on deck 11. When we made the reservation back in March, all they were offering for interior rooms was $25 OBC. When they started offering the UBP for the interiors a few weeks ago, we were able to rebook the interior to take advantage of the promo. Also, the price of the room had dropped $80 since we booked, which took care of the 18% gratuity on the UBP (only one person booked in the interior). If that's the only upgrade we get on our cruise, I won't complain. But I'm secretly hoping DH, two kiddos, and I will have an opportunity trade our mini-suite in for one of the two-bedroom family suites. Not likely, but I can dream. :D

  10. Let me jump in as an NCL first timer, my codes -in top right corner - are CHOB, EASYFARE and RESSE.

I know CHOB is the UBP, what about the others ?

    Thanks.

EASYFARE is the early booking code, according to previous posts. I also have a RESSE code on my November booking and I concluded that it's for resident rates (sailing from Houston). I also have CHOB for the free UPB promo and PPSRVCHG for pre-paid DSC. But we booked under the KSF promo too, and I don't see any mention of that on the list, even though the booking details clearly show the kids' fare being $0.

  11. Thank you for posting this! We have a mini-suite and an inside on the Jade in November. Not only are they offering the beverage package on the inside rooms now, but they're $80 cheaper than when we booked. We were able to cancel and rebook the inside room in about a minute and a half, and the fare difference paid for the 18% gratuity on the beverage package (only one person in that room). Good times. :D

  12. Hi, I'm new. I gained a ridiculous amount of weight due to hormonal issues and three pregnancies in the last five years. When we booked our cruise back in March, I weighed 226 (5'8"). This morning I weighed in at 201, so that's 25 pounds in almost three months. Five more months to go before our cruise. My goal is 160, but I'd be thrilled with 150 or even 140. Our last cruise was October '13 and I weighed 195. I think I can beat that.
