I just returned from the Mediterranean voyage of the Ruby Princess. We sailed from Venice on August 28th, 2013.
As a long time cruiser, I was surprised to find the Ruby short of smoking areas for the smokers. So, as has been mentioned, the areas that do have smoking were heavily filled with smokers.
I understand that people don't want to be around smoke and smokers. On the Ruby Princess there are very few places that one can smoke. There is no place that you can have a drink and smoke except in the casino, where some nights are non-smoking. If you are a smoker, regular or casual, don't plan on smoking on the Ruby Princess. Balconies are totally non-smoking as well.
