This is all true. The HOHO bus is an open double decker and is not the actual bus that takes you to the airport. Sorry if I was confusing in my response.

Really? The HOHO bus in Miami drops you off at FLL?
Yes, you have the choice of being dropped off at MIA or FLL depending which excursion you choose. We chose FLL.

You will have a great meal at either one. Cagney’s is a meat and potatoes steak house and they do it well. Moderno is a moving buffet with a larger variety of food. Our last cruise was 14 days and we started in Moderno. The meat was amazing and so we made another reservation for our last night. That time the meat was bleh. Same people - same restaurant - same cruise - different experience. You can’t make a wrong decision on this one.

It has been our experience that the schedule kind of goes out the window. Lots of things get cancelled and the kids area becomes more of a place for the kids to entertain themselves.

From what I remember, they kept our luggage on trucks based on what bus we planned to use to the airport. Then they gave us our luggage to put on the bus as we loaded to get on the airport bus. The on off busses are different than the airport buses and run on a set schedule. Everything goes in and out of the shopping center. It was quite easy.

The staff on the Star really makes you feel special when you are in a suite.

We did the hop on hop off and really enjoyed it. The top of the bus isn’t covered so bring sunscreen and hat. The tours leave in and out of a nice shopping center/mall with shops and restaurants. You can get off to see sights, but we didn’t. It was more fun than we expected.

It all depends what your kids enjoy, but my kids enjoyed the Star more than the Escape. It is less crowded and my teens enjoyed hanging out with other teens in the teen area and roaming the ship with friends. They will find fun things to do.

As previously mentioned, there is a reduced rate pressing service on the first day. I think it was half price. I was in the owner’s suite on my last cruise and was charged the rate like everyone else. It was wonderful to have pressed shirts and I will always take advantage of the service from now on.

The slides didn’t work very well and my kids said they weren’t fun, because they would get stuck.

We were on the Star in April and my boys (12 and 14) loved it, but they wouldn’t use the slides. They said they were gross and they got stuck. Your 9 year old probably wouldn’t have used the back area either. It was designed for very young kids.

I’m not sure what room you are in, but we had a suite and there were two.

Feel free to look through my Star review from December for more ideas!
A menu
A life jacket
A poster of tonight’s entertainment
You could have them stand in front of the signs for different restaurants
There is cool art in every stairwell which would be fun to find, but I don’t know if it changed with the upgrade

I only pack clothing that will roll up tightly in the laundry bag. On our last cruise, our room steward made the sound of a fork lift whenever he picked up my laundry bag. Feel free to ask your steward if they are running the special even if it isn’t advertised and No heavy jeans. We got the special 4 times on a 14 day cruise and it was only advertised twice.

Very Good. There are assigned special diet staff to help you decide your meals one day ahead. We asked to decide everything at the beginning and were told that was even easier for them. We had a great trip.

We ate in Aqua most nights as my husband had to eat gluten free and his special diet waiter worked there. We were on a 14 day cruise and were shown all of the menus at the beginning of the cruise. There were some items that changed mid cruise, however, so expect changes. We loved the food in Aqua about as much as the specialty restaurants.

You can check out books and games at specified times. The rest of the times, the books are in locked glass cases

I have found it is easier to remove someone than add someone later.

I just got off the Star with 2 CPAPs and had no problem at the airport or the port. Our extension cord wasn’t long enough and the steward provided a longer one. He also brought us distilled water.

We were on the Star last year for a 14 day. I think there were 2 advertised specials. Fill a bag for $19.99 I think. There is also half priced pressing on the first day which was well worth it. We were a family of five and asked the steward whenever we needed a special. He would check and let us know if we could have the special at unadvertised times. We got more than two.
