Worst idea for a commercial/song I've ever seen in my 60 years, that is for sure.  I cringe every time this comes on the tv.  And working with adolescents and young adult substance abusers, this is now their current anthem.....most had never even heard of this song/message until Celebrity chose to use it to promote Wonder.  Why would Celebrity promote "wonder" through psychedelic drug use?v Are you kidding me?

I agree, why would you use something that promotes drugs in any situation whether its a cruise line or or fast food chain, I was really taken aback by it.  I too am a product of the 60's

  2. We always travel with a group of friends and always had our balcony cabins together AND always had our balconies all opened in between. 2 years ago we went on NCL Escape and they opened our balconies. Last year did the Escape again, this time, " no, we can only open for "medical reasons". It just so happened our friends in the next cabin had a motorized scooter. I told the cabin steward that I would need access to them in case she fell and he wasn't in the cabin. "I will have to get permission from the Captain." They did open it but did site "safety" as the reason for not opening. Did not offer an explanation as to what that meant. However, knowing how many people smoke on their balconies where it is illegal to do so, maybe they look at it as a way to slow down a fire. Just guessing.

  3. We were mostly Holland/Princess cruisers then we discovered Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. They are fabulous! In fact we did Escape twice, same itinerary just because we loved the ship and especially the grotto in the back. We sailed MSC twice in Europe and it was awful. In fact the reason why we sailed it again was the fact that I wrote a letter of complaint to the President of the US division and he actually called me. They gave us a $500 credit per cabin for our group for the issues we had so we rebooked with them out of Venice. It may be a whole different story with the ones out of Miami. Never saw our cabin steward. Took 3 days to get ice in our cabin. In Europe every port is an embarkation/disembark so people turnover is constant and that means fire drills in EVERY port. We had someones suitcases sitting outside our cabin for 2 1/2 days DESPITE numerous daily phone calls. The dress code is nonexistent, although we found that to be true on the Escape. Had dinner one night in Savor/Taste sitting next to a guy in shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt with questionable writing on it. While the pricing on MSC is great, our group agreed never to cruise on one again.

  4. We are going to be cruising out of Venice, July 4th but going into Venice a few days early. I can find everything on getting to Venice from airport or airport to cruise port but can't seem to get a clear understanding of getting from Venice to the cruise port. Since we don't know which berth the ship will be docked in, I don't really see on maps or any sites where the water taxis dock at the port and how far it is to get to any one given ship and if there is transportation or just a long walk.

  5. Really? Who actually SITS on a sofa..that they couldn't sit on a loveseat or chair? Really? I've yet to see 3 people sit side by side on a sofa when there is ANY other configuration available.

    Whatever....

Write the cruise line. I'm sure they'll take note.

First of all I sit on a sofa or lets call it a loveseat, whatever you like, but when the description says, comes with a sofa OR loveseat, it should be in there. There are 8 of us that cruise together and we hang out in each others cabins before dinner and sometimes in the mornings for breakfast. Hard to eat breakfast or hang out when all you can do is sit on the bed and use the stool for the desk to eat off of. And that's the problem there IS NO other configuration available. And just so you know, I have contacted the cruise line and it still says that "balcony cabins come with a SOFA OR LOVESEAT" and they seem to think that it's ok to keep on letting everyone that books will get one. Hey, thanks for your very "friendly" response.

  6. I have found now to separate times, that this cruise line has what we call in America, false advertising. On the cruise line's website it mentions that their balcony cabins come with a sofa. Well this is not true AND when you book a particular category, if it doesn't come with a sofa, it doesn't tell you that. Any ideas on who to complain to? This is definately misleading advertising on their website and it needs to be spelled out better.

  7. We ate at the early sitting because 9:30 was just too late to eat. There were a lot of families with small children in the dining room so if you were concerned with that it wasn't a problem unless of course the kid were screaming or running around under the waiters feet. The dining room was absolutely beautiful and some of the best food I've ever had on a cruise ship (Holland America, Princess and Royal Caribbean). The buffet was better then any American Cruise line I've eaten on. A great variety everyday and the pizza was out of this world.

While I don't have small children anymore, the water park up top by the big slide was making me wish I did. It was awesome and while I was on in November, not too many kids up there, I could see where in June it would be a great place to be. I remember seeing other kids areas inside but didn't really pay too much attention.

  8. Since I decided to add this to my original post but went beyond the allotted time for editing, here is the problem explained.

I am interested in a cruise with them for next fall out of Venice. The website states (which by the way in September and October this was the only sailing available which I understand) for the cruise on the 20th of September the price per person is $1292.46. Ok so if it's a 2 for 1, both would cruise for $1292...right? WRONG. NO we're going to price it out of the "brochure rate", of which we have no access to, and that price is $2400 per person so the 2 for one price is going to cost me $2400. There is something REALLY wrong with this. So really, where is the 2 for 1 pricing?

  9. Six of us cruise together and have for many years and have NEVER run across a worse/customer unfriendly website as MSC's. for example when we finally did book and I registered on the site, there was a major picture taking up the screen then right below it, it said "my Dashboard" and it was a clickable item. Every time I would click on it nothing would happen. Once I register and it's attached to my reservation, I should not have to keep putting THE SAME INFORMATION IN AGAIN AND AGAIN, when I log on to get further into my reservation. I figured something wasn't right with the my dashboard so I engaged them in the online chat. The person I was chatting with didn't even know what "My Dashboard" was. He had to go onto the site to see what I was talking about. Then he still didn't know. Finally they called me to tell me that this was for people that had booked online through their website, not through a travel agent....OMG.

All of us were done before we even cruised with them because the website was and still is horrendous and all the problems on this side of the pond. Although I do have to say the cruise was great once we got on.

  10. ha ha, i know - right?!!! It's not like when you are staying in a hotel you are hanging around expecting to see the girl who comes to make up your room. It gets done when its needs to be, and all is good :) Get out and enjoy your cruise!

With regard to the ice - I'm from the UK originally, so don't take ice in my water or soda. My husband, American, used to laugh at me. But now he rarely has ice in soda - it just waters it down and you get less.

I hardly equate staying in a hotel with being on a cruise. You're telling me that you never had any requests that you were looking for regarding your cabin? I don't care where you're from, if you like ice or not, it was our request and we asked for it to be fulfilled and it was. GEEZ people get over the ice. Those people that felt it was ok to wander in their bathrobes into the dining area, fine whatever, not what we would do in the US but then again, WE LIKE ICE ....we needed the balcony opened between our 2 cabins. How are we to get this done if there is no one to ask? We wound up 2 days later doing it ourselves. Hope we didn't break it. Someone else's luggage got delivered outside my cabin 3 days after we embarked in Barcelona and sat there for 12 hours, looked for a steward to alert them to the fact that these were not ours and someone probably thinks they're missing, calling the main desk fell on deaf ears. Even went so far as to call the cabin that was listed on the luggage tag but not even a voicemail was set up for their cabin. My point IS that in all the cruises that I have done in the past, and YES I've done a lot, you always see some help staff in the hallway that you can address. This was NOT the case here which made getting things accomplished a little more difficult and one that I'm not used to having to deal with.

  11. We crusied twice with MSC and twice steward introduce himself. why peopole need to see them all teh time I don't know .

I never stated that "I needed to see him all the time" Once would have been sufficient. We needed our balcony opened between 2 cabins and wound up having to do it ourselves 3 days into the cruise. Hope we didn't break it. If you are in need of a few things, how are you supposed to accomplish this if you never see them. On all the other cruises you see at least ONE in the hallway throughout the day.....

  12. European values. I suppose.

Firstly, when your luggage was delivered, the deliverer would have knocked once. After that, there is an assumption that either you are out or you do not wish to be disturbed. In either case, it would be inappropriate to enter your room.

Secondly, MSC use the card-energy-saver system to indicate whether you are in or out. There is a small indicator outside in the corridor. If the indicator shows you are in, the cabin attendant will never disturb you. This is discrete and professional service. Unless you choose to make an effort therefore, you may only meet your cabin attendant and his/her assistant once in a cruise - at the formal introduction.

Ice. Mmm. I had to catch my cabin attendant in the corridor and ask him to stop bringing me ice with the explanation that "I am not American!". I can't imagine what people do with ice in their staterooms. Ice cubes were just going to occupy space and melt everyday. I got my wish.

    Tim.

As you said, they use the card energy saver system. We obviously were not in our cabin when the luggage arrived as our card was not in the light and the outside red light was not on. Therefore, we were not "at home".

"Unless you choose to make an effort therefore, you may only meet your cabin attendant and his/her assistant once in a cruise - at the formal introduction." What formal introduction? There was never ANY introduction of Anyone, assistant or otherwise. The hallway was VOID of any employee 99% of the time. As I said, we ONLY saw our cabin steward when he was cleaning the room across from us. Never even introduced himself to us.

I guess American's like ice and after asking for it everyday, it was filled and used.
