We are going to hire a taxi at Amber Cove and go to the cable car. We are trying to decide if it is really worth the time to continue on to Puerto Plata and see the city. Is the church or fort worth seeing and what about the rum and amber factories. Just looking for some honest opinions.

How long were the shows. We realize Mamma Mia is very long at 2 1/2 hours, but we were interested in how long the Ocean Aria show, the Ice shows: and the Comedy shows are. Is it possible to go to the 7:30 shows and make a 8:30 dining time?
Thanks

We got off Indy 2 weeks ago and French Toast was available in both the Windjammer and the Main Dining room most days

We also just got off the Independence this Sunday and we had traditional dining and were amazed that most guests were very well dressed. Our table of 8 all commented that it was the best dressed cruise we had been on, even on the casual nights. There was a group of over 100 Steam-punk fans on board who were dressed to the nines in Victorian costumes each night.
There were a few jeans and t shirts and we saw at least one person turned away at the door, but they were the exception.
No problem with hand sanitize or the elevators as far as we were concerned.
It was the best cruise we have been on out of 17 cruises

I noticed that someone mentioned that Chops in now offering a lunch for $20 on Independence of the Seas. Has anyone done this and if so what is the menu like?

We did Conquest last year and loved the ship. Good food, crew, clean ship and enjoyed the entertainment. That said, We are going on the Independence this time in April. We have been on its sister ships the Liberty and Freedom and there are huge differences in the two ships. Much more to do on the Independence. Flowrider, climbing wall, Ice shows, Etc. You pay more to go on the Independence and you get more. We end up on Carnival due to price and then go back to Royal when we can afford the extra cost. Both ships are wonderful, so no answer is wrong, but if you can justify the extra cost its Independence for us.
Enjoy your cruise:)

If you post the request nicely on his Facebook page one of his assistants will contact the correct matre'd. He can only do so much, but it works for tables for 2 in most cases. He will sometimes also send some chocolate dipped strawberries if you are celabrating an event. The key is to ask nicely and not be demanding.

The shareholder credit can also be used all all the other cruise lines that Carnival owns including Princess and Holland America.

Just wanted to say "Thanks" for all the information on this thread. We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites and took advantage of the parking deal and the free shuttle. We enjoyed the hotel and the breakfast was great along with the service. The shuttle service was great.
We also went to Grills the night before our cruise and had a wonderful dinner with a live band. Lots of fun and a good chance to meet fellow cruisers.
We had a great cruise on the Freedom.

We loved our cabin #9052. Lots of room and a great view over the tops of the life boats. Would do it again in a heartbeat.:)
