We just returned yesterday from our cruise and we loved the Xunatunich ruins. Spectacular. Be warned you will need to be moderately fit just to climb to the ruin site and the even more so to climb the pyramid. Very interesting and informative.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I certainly don't expect to see all the wildlife on the river cruise portion that the tour description lists, or any at all for that matter! Been there, done that before. We are actually leaning toward Xunatunich because it includes lunch and DOSEN'T have a river cruise (on a presumably open air, unairconditioned boat).
We've seen jungles before, and ruins as well, just not Mayan ruins. Anyone been to Xuantunich?
I am going there next week so I can let you know when we return.

We stayed there for a couple days in Dec. Loved the place. I don't know what kind of fun you are looking for, but there is an outdoor bar next door at the Marriott. We sat out there and watched the ships leave one night.
If the weather is nice it is a nice place to sit. They also had some happy hour specials and food.

Thank you bills blaster! Is there anything within walking distance such as shopping, dining, etc?

Are there any places off fun and food near this hotel? We are arriving this coming Saturday at 9 am and our cruise departs on Sunday. Looking for something to do for the day that is close to the hotel. Thanks for any information.

I am enjoying this review. We leave in 16 days. We booked about 18 months ago and I have been planning ever since.

We paid for one of us to cruise in a junior suite by using the card. Now we continue to use the card for big purchases so that we can get another free cruise. We always pay it off after one month cycle.

Thanks for the review. My DH and I (55 and 49) are going at the end of April. We both are excited about this excursion and thankfully you validated our decision to book through the ship.

The Carnival Placemats which would be signed by the waiter at the end of the cruise was a nice touch that Carnival provided. In a way it said thanks for coming on our ship by your waiter and the cruise. When we returned home, we would cover the paper placemats with plastic and use them for dining. It is a shame that Carnival discontinued this practice.
I agree. I always loved this as a souvenir!

Thank you. Do you happen to remember how much the conch shells were?
I am interested in going there as well. I love to bring back at least one original piece from a cruise if not too expensive.

Hi ,
I will be on the NCL Epic in March 2014 and am looking for a reliable excursion/tour company in Cozumel. Additionally, are there any excursions/tours that you recommmend. I am open to active and cultural tours.:)
Check out Xcaret and Xplorer parks. They are really nice and have a lot of things to do.

I wish the adult shows were earlier. We are not night owls and plan early excursions on port days so late night is out for us. We are not old just used to being up at 4:30am for work so sleeping in for us is 6:30am.

I also suffer with Mal de Debarquement. I can only speak for myself, but I do not have a problem when I am on a ship, just on land. Weird, huh!
I also have mal de debarquement. My first cruise with the diagnosis is in April. I first had symptoms after a cruise in 2000 and again in 2004. Was misdiagnosed both times and after months, years, it finally subsided and guess what? It is back worse than ever. Thank goodness I am on the road a lot for work as this is the relief I get.
