  1. I've been on both ships in the past year and if the price was the same I'd choose the Breeze without hesitation. Much nicer ship, more amenities, newer, staff have been the best I've encountered on Carnival and they seem to get the best piano entertainers and comedians.

  2. Norwegian has an AMAZING deal for the October 4, 2014 Getaway sailing! There's no single supplement on all of their cabins from interior ($509) up the mini suites ($979). If you put in for one person it comes up double that price until you click on which room type you want in the second step. Studios are $240 more than an interior!

I booked last night, hoping others can jump on this great deal. :)

  4. But if you received the "elite" offer it knocks NCL out of the running. It cost me a grand total of $124.98pp for port fees and taxes for a balcony cabin and includes a $200pp excursion and drink cards plus other amenities. NCL charges pretty high taxes and upgrade costs that seem to have nothing to do with actual listed cruise costs. I.E. on NCL an upgrade from an inside to a balcony cabin usually costs about $600pp including port fees and taxes. If I booked it online, not thru the casino, it might cost me $150 more pp....that's not much of a comp.

That's where you're wrong my friend. Elite cruise has a lot to do with luck of the draw and not gambling habits. Norwegian rates their players properly and comps accordingly. You're telling me that my Haven Suite ($4199), casino cash, free drinks, specialty restaurants any night I want with wine included, and fantastic treatment from the NCL casino staff isn't as good as the Carnival "elite" cruise? I haven't been on an elite cruise but if it's better you're going to be in heaven and never cruise another line again. I have friends that only cruise Norwegian because they know their being treated fairly and we all get comped to our level of play, no guessing games or drawing out of a hat like Carnival.

I love the people on Carnival and wish I could choose to cruise them again but they have made it impossible. Norwegian makes it MUCH easier to say Hasta la vista Carnival! Is Norwegian still out of the running compared to the "elite" cruise? :)

  5. I am booked on a Players Club free Carnival cruise. My dear friend and travelling buddy is a very big gambler. She always gets the offers from NCL for free cruises with the free drink card included. This friend gambles about $2000 a day. She gets free airfare to Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and as many nites as she wants, plus hundreds of free casino money. Same with Atlantic City. She was on only one Carnival cruise, years ago. Would the Players Club consider calling her Casino host, say, at Harrahs casinos, to check on her level of play?

She is hesitant to go on Carnival again, and I want her to come with my husband and myself, along with her hubby to our cruise coming up.

Has anyone ever had this done for them before?

    Thank you

The answer would be a definite no. Carnival doesn't even care about the high rollers on their cruises let alone land based casinos. I strongly suggest she stick to Norwegian if she's a big gambler or she will be VERY disappointed.

  6. I'll give you a great tip. If you're a high roller go to Norwegian and never look back at Carnival again! Carnival is absolute garbage for perks and understanding how to treat high rollers. I even turned down a free cruise and premier cruise because I no longer wanted my money to go to a cruise line that doesn't give a sh*t about me as VERY good customer! Lost 10k on my last cruise, average bet was several hundred per hand with one night betting 1k per hand for hours and didn't even get the elite cruise offer. 4 cruises last year and lost about 20k while spending a lot of time at the tables.

Go to Norwegian where they LOVE the high rollers! Got a free Haven Suite on the EPIC with more amazing perks and I spent less time and lower average bet than Carnival. You won't regret it.

  7. For anyone that appreciates being treated fairly and rated properly I can confirm that Norwegian knows how to do that!

I wouldn't care if everyone got treated equally and I only got $100 OBC with Carnival. However, I grew sick of their inconsistency and lack of knowledge from their casino managers/hosts. Like I've stated before, I love the people I meet in the bars and casinos more than any other cruise line but I've had enough of being treated unfairly and under appreciated.

I finally made the call to Norwegian this weekend after getting nowhere (once again) with the Ocean Players Club and was very pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and offer received. They booked me in a comped aft facing penthouse suite on the EPIC (valued at $3341) among some other great perks. This is based on my play from my previous cruise on the EPIC where I lost less and averaged a lower bet than my previous Carnival cruise. I hate to give up a "free" cruise with Carnival but that's what I've decided to do. I'd prefer to donate my thousands to a cruise line that actually recognizes my play.

Hope everyone that received the "elite" cruise offers enjoys their cruise. My annoyance is with the Ocean Players Club and Carnival and definitely wish everyone that received the cruises good luck and happy cruising. :)

  8. Actually it has nothing to do with how much you lost on the cruise, as it was clearly stated to you.

It has everything to do with your level of play. You can buy in with $1000, and play all week, and break even still with $100 per hand bets, and quickly accumulate 10000 points. Always chat up the pit bosses and make sure they are rating you properly.

I have seen slot players playing penny slots at max bet for a few hours a day make more than 5000 points easily.

You can drop $10k easily if you are playing 2 hands at $500 a hand, and only be rated for an hours play and it would mean nothing to them.

After being rated properly, ALL the staff in the casino will bend over backwards for you.

You must have missed the part where I stated I was averaging several hundred per hand throughout the cruise and I gambled a lot! Everyone in the casino knew me, I chatted with the pit bosses all the time and tipped much more than I should have.

  9. And on the other hand... who needs to be rated??? There are many people here and people I know off of here that are getting large discounted and free cruises... and hardly spent any time in the casino... it is also based on money spent onboard, and sometimes land casinos... this is what i learned from calling the players club...

I agree, it's a shame how the casino and offers are run. Trust me when I tell you it has nothing to do with gambling and money spent onboard. My total bill at the end of the cruise was just under 12k solo. I receive a small amount of cash at the cage, premier cruise offer that has a jacked up fare for the cruises and supposedly don't qualify for the "elite" cruise. Maybe 25k and 10 hours of max betting per day in the casino will will get it?

  10. Nobody knows including Carnival, The Carnival Players Club and The Ocean Players Club. For the first time in over 25 years of playing Blackjack I was told that losses were actually part of the equation and that that weighs more than how long you played.

If you ask 10 people at Carnival you will get 10 different answers. So far I am very happy with my comps based on my level of play. I know your level of play and quite frankly if I were you I would be playing elseware.

Thanks, I appreciate your replies. I really wouldn't care if they would just make even close to fair. I'm glad you're getting rated for your play and happy with your comps, you seem like a great person. :)

I've reluctantly decided not to cruise Carnival again and make the switch to Norwegian for good. They are offering me a Haven Suite on my next cruise. I'm just as happy in an inside because I travel solo most of the time but I'll take it. Norwegian are very consistent in their ratings and treat the gamblers accordingly. I hate to leave Carnival because I absolutely love the passengers and crew but customer service has to count for something. Carnivals casino managers and hosts are like a meteorologist, they're rarely right and nor are they expected to be. I wish my job was without expectations or consequences. lol

  11. Someone PLEASE tell me how points are accumulated on Carnival. I hope it's 1 point for every 100 bet at the table because if not I'm going to try to get conferenced in with Martin and the casino manager. I really don't understand how people get 20k points. I was by far the biggest better on my cruise and the most generous.

I will be moving on to another cruise line and will never step foot on Carnival again but I would really like to have a civil conversation with Martin and the casino manager from Glory before moving on.

  12. What Email Address did you use to get such a fast response?

BTW I am sorry to hear the response you received. Quite frankly at your level of play I would go somewhere else where they would "really" appreciate your business.

    The email is ExecHost@carnival.com. That's Martin's email.

This is his most recent email.

    Hi Ryan,

The amount you are referring to is your charging capability on the card – most of our Elite guests arrange for facilities or bring additional cash onboard. We do no strictly base our offers on losses though: we look at points accumulated. In order to qualify, you would need in excess of 20,000 points per cruise on average, and currently you qualify at a 10,000 point level. This does not mean that you are not valued by us, just that the tier you are referring to (Elite) is not something you have qualified for. We will continue to make you offers based on your points, and indeed this is the reason you are getting our Premier offers.

  13. Either you guys are VERY high rollers or Martin lied right to my face. He told me anyone that received the elite offer lost at least 20k during their cruise. He obviously didn't mean 20k in bets because I told him I lost 10k and was betting 1k per hand for just about an entire night and several hundred per hand every other night I gambled (5 of 7 nights for hours at a time).

I sent him an email to get a confirmation in writing that he said this. It will be interesting to see what his response is. I wish we could give away these free cruises to someone because I'm gone to Norwegian and never looking back.

FYI, not once was I rude to the dealers, casino managers, hosts, bartenders or Martin. Quite the opposite actually. Bogdan told me all his staff loved me and I'm not kidding when I tell you they received at least a thousand in tips from me throughout the week.

  14. I was told they sent out the offer to 500 people and the first 90 to book were booked on the elite cruises. I'm shocked I never received an invitation after my March cruise where I lost over 5k and gambled a lot. I mentioned to Martin that I just lost over 10k on my cruise last week, was betting 1k (500 on two spots) per hand on BJ for a full night and averaging several hundred per hand during the cruise.

I'm still giving them a chance to send me a decent offer (doesn't have to be an elite cruise). I can get an interior cabin for $350 so I really don't feel that a "free" interior is sufficient, especially when my tips during the week were more than some people spend gambling in a week and get an elite cruise offer.

    Here's my response from Martin:

    Hi Ryan,

Unfortunately this offer was an invitation only event, and was fully booked within hours after we made the offer – at this time we do not have any other available cabins.

    Regards,

    Martin van der Merwe

    Senior Executive Casino Host

    Global Casino Operations

    Carnival Corporation & PLC

And my reply to him since I get a free suite on Norwegian but really enjoy the people in the casinos on Carnival:

Ok. Can you call me anytime after 2pm eastern today please. I'd like to discuss other options with rooms and cash at the cage. You can contact Bogdan before if you don't have my ratings. I need to make my decision between Norwegian and Carnival by Saturday.

    Thanks

    Ryan

  15. All you can do is ask. The offers went out in emails this past Wednesday and there was a 30 person limit. I would think by now that all slots would be full but there's always the chance you could luck out. This is a fantastic offer!!

Thanks. Do you know Martin's email or phone number?
