  1. Heading back to Nassau in a couple weeks, going on two short cruises and am very much looking forward to it, I think I have been 8 or 9 times since 2007, and as someone else said... NO THANK YOU works. My husband had long hair almost to his waist when we were there on our last trip and he was asked about getting his hair braided... no was the response, and loud enough that he wasn't asked again. I wear my hair tucked in a ball cap when we get off the ship so no one asks me.

  2. In Port Everglades members of the sheriff's office would sit waiting and taking bets how many remains would come off the various number of ships over the weekend. Morbid perhaps, but it passed the time. Not much else to do when they are on station unable to leave unless there is a call.

  3. I also enjoy the rolls with dinner as I stay away from them breakfast and lunch, I like the whole wheat with sunflower seeds on them best ;)

    absolutely my favorite as well.

Last week they had one that looked like at first like a cinnamon bun garlic roll, until you started eating it an it had cayenne pepper or something in it, talk about a bite!!!

  4. Thank you for your excellent review with photos. You must have taken them very early in the mornings because I didn't see any people! My daughter and I are taking the Ruby four-day cruise this week. How was the temperature in the public rooms? Was the AC cold? Overall for dining do you recommend the buffet over the dining rooms? We are in a mini-suite so I guess our balcony is open. This is my 7th cruise, but the first on Princess.

    Hi Pink,

My best friend and I are sailing on the 4 night that leaves tomorrow. 18th cruise, 5th time on a Princess ship and 2nd time on the Ruby, last time was when she was brand new.

We are also in a mini-suite for this sailing, first time for that on any line for either one of us. This is our third cruise for a birthday celebration, first year was 2011 on the Celebrity Solstice, last year on the Disney Wonder and now this. Although our birthdays aren't until next month, the price was too good to pass up.

Perhaps we will see you around the ship, we are in D525. I will be found in one of the hot tubs the majority of the time.

  5. There is a host agency that will train you for free to become an agent. The commission split is 80/20 HOWEVER, until you sell a certain amount, you are not able to receive commission on your own personal bookings, or travel at agent rates. You must qualify under IATA guidelines in order to receive the ID card, and same with CLIA. This is a great agency, and very much available to their agents. However, in order to meet their minimums you must be able to get your own clients, as they do not provide them yet, although for a couple years they have talked about it.

Once registered with the host, you will be able to take the trainings with the various cruise lines in order to learn how to use their systems and sell them effectively.

This is not a (I think I want to be my own agent) program. NO freebies if you don't produce.

  6. My daughter tried to use her card at CVS last weekend, it didn't go through. Tried again at work to test it as she knew she had money, still wouldn't go through. Called the bank "wachovia" and was told that they had cancelled her card and mailing her a new one. She was caught in the Target fiasco. While she was using her card here in FL someone else the same day was making charges in MI. Glad they caught it, she received her new card today but said she will be using cash most of the time for now on. She is 22 and learning the hard way.

  7. Shoot, my cruise on the Vision last month the towels were really nice... blue one side white the other, the white side had the Royal Crown/Anchor and it said Royal Caribbean International on it. Very nice towels.

Royal Princess had blue/white striped towels also nice and thick.

  8. Looking for the cheapest way to get my son (who will be staying with a student at Floriday Atlantic University) from Jupiter to meet me at either the airport, a hotel, or the cruise ship. This is what I have come up with

    1) Taxi cost is about $130

    2) Private car service about $180

    3) He could take a bus from the university to the northern most Tri-Rail Station in West Palm Beach. This would take two hours by bus to the Tri-Rail and then another 2 hours on the train, and would be the cheapest at $5 for the Tri-Rail. But too much hassle

    4) My other child and I were going to fly into FLL and get a transport to Port Everglades on same day, however, I could fly in the day before to PBI, rent a car from there and then pick him up in Jupiter and then drive to Port Everglades, renting from a company who will take us to the ship. and then would have to pay for a hotel in either PBI/Jupiter or FLL depending on where I end up. I'm guessing this would cost about $70 for the one day car rental and about $100-$120 for the hotel night. IS THERE A CHEAPER, EAISER WAY??? HELP

  9. Flew up from FL in 2008 with a friend for a 1 night on the NCL Spirit, it was my first NCL cruise, I was hooked. Flying up in January for 2 night CTN on the Getaway and a weekend in NYC, different friend, but first is now my SIL and jealous cause I am taking someone else. Not my fault she couldn't get off work to go. In the mean time, hubby is being left home as well.

    FUN TIMES.

  10. My husband would have thought I had lost my mind by booking a cruise that would make us miss the 500. Of course I had a hard time this year because we had to miss not only one but two races because of cruises but not major races, of course we did go to 3 live races this year to compensate.

ANY WAY... check Michael's and see if they can show it, that is your best bet.

And GO JIMMIE Rev-in for 7 in 2014!!!

We may be in Daytona for the 500 or I may be watching it on my phone via raceview... all depends on if we have to fly to NJ from FL that week or if we are driving to TN first... I am all about flying straight up, at least then we don't leave until Tuesday.

  11. Broward being Ft Lauderdale and Dade being Miami are both on Spring Break the last week in March...Last day March 20 go back March 31. They are also off April 18 (Good Friday). Normally they are off the week leading up to or following Easter, however with Easter so late this year... nope.

  12. Great thing about NCL is freestyle, free to dress formal or not. You will see some dress up nightly, and some jeans nightly. That being said, on every NCL cruise I have been on, one dining room was for those not dressed up, and the other was for those that were and the menu was the same.

    What Should I Pack?

When it comes to what to wear, you can go resort casual or get decked-out and look your best - it’s your call. That’s the freedom of Freestyle Cruising. We even have special “Dress-Up or Not Night.” It’s the perfect opportunity to get your portrait taken with your family, that special someone or even with the ship’s Captain.

Dress cruise casual anytime during the day, in the buffet and in most specialty restaurants. For women, it includes summer and casual dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, shorts, jeans and tops. Khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are fine for men. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. Cruise casual is also allowed day and night on embarkation day.

Wear smart casual if you are eating dinner in the aft main dining room (our more formal dining room) and in Le Bistro on cruises longer than five days. For women, it includes slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, it’s jeans or slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toed shoes. Traditional Bermuda shorts along with long socks, loafers and a blazer are all acceptable on a Bermuda cruise.

We want you to be comfortable, but tank tops for men, flip flops, baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes or tears and worn below the hips are not permitted in main dining rooms or specialty restaurants. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants. You may want to pack a sweater too—air conditioning can be chilly.

Since your suitcases are collected the night before we return home, don’t forget an overnight bag for prescriptions and need-to-have items.

  13. Honestly, at that age I wouldn't say a thing until it is time to go, then get them in the car and leave... anything can happen between now and then to stop the trip from happening, and lead to disappointment.

Put up a countdown calendar with the fact that a surprise is going to happen at the end, this way if something happens and the cruise can't happen, a special dinner or funday could.
