Check out http://www.starclipper.com
We took the Star Clipper out of Barbados for 14nights and of all our 31 cruises, this was the best. They also cruise Europe and transatlantic. Real sailing ships. Small passenger count. Unique experiences.

We rented a4x4 ATV, put on helmets, and played follow the leader all over the island. Our guide took us everywhere. There were just 6 of us following the guide. Felt very safe and enjoyed seeing the island.

I've already booked excursions on 2 out of 3 ports of call on our cruise in March 2018. We stopped by Nassau on our last cruise and were less than thrilled. I'm looking for some ideas of what we can do that isn't an excursion from the cruise line. We're already doing a beach day at CoCoCay so that's out. I really wanted to tour the city and explore but not in an enclosed vehicle. My husband wants to check out paradise island. And anything involving a boat is a plus for me. Any ideas? What experiences have you had?

We took the public bus, filled with locals to the end of the line and back. Bus stop was by Senor Frogs, cost was 75 cents. On the way back got off at the Gardens. Back on, then stopped at fish fry for conch salad and rum. Then back to the ship. Great day !

We’ve been to Cuba 3 times. We have never been able to use a credit card anywhere for anything. We brought cash and changed money in the airport. It was very difficult to change money anywhere else. And American money is not accepted at all.

You don’t need a dress. Lots of ladies wear black slacks and a sparkling top. Black flats and you’re all set.

I agree with the original post.
A truly upscale cruise line would keep the hamburger off the dining room menu in favor of a steak, but gladly agree to go out to the poolside grill and deliver one to you as an off-the-menu request .
But you see, Princess is mid scale, not upscale. Never was or tried to be. You folks that are so upset over Princess offering a burger in the dining room need to pay higher prices and cruise another line.

I saw this on my last Princess cruise in November....could hardly believe it! How shameful. The next month I went on my first cruise on Oceania and WOW....what a difference!! Especially the food - there was lobster and steak freshly grilled everyday in every restaurant!! Even the buffet. And no extra charge for specialty restaurants.
I'm almost Elite on Princess, but am sad to see them sliding down in quality. My last 2 room stewards did the basic cleaning, but we never saw them otherwise - didn't even know their names. I think Princess is probably giving them more cabins so they don't have time to give excellent service. Sad.
I couldn’t disagree more ! We are elite, having sailed on every Princess ship. We love have the option of a delicious burger in the dining room vs having to eat by the pool. And why didn’t you introduce yourselves to your steward? It’s not a one way street. Yes, they have a lot of rooms and if you had inferior service, why didn’t you report it? Passengers should board with common sense.

What you hope is that it’s at a good time! We’ve done this twice and the first time we started through the canal at 5 am. Many people were very unhappy but the transient time is not under ship control.

My information is that any wine not purchased on board is subject to a corkage charge if brought to a dining room.

The Sophia and the Blue Mosque have rotating closing days. Also, during the holy days almost everything is closed.

Thanks - good information and love the photos. We're going in Sept/Oct.

our experience with Princess and Carnival is that only one bottle per person is allowed, the same as HAL. On RCL we had to pay a $25 corkage fee when we checked in and it was also one bottle per person. So to those of you who said you booked with another cruise line - which one did you find that did not have this same "one bottle per person" policy??

Can anyone explain why you would choose to spend a day at a resort like a million other resorts throughout the world when you only have one day on one of the most iconic islands in the world? I just don't understand the logic.

For our longer cruises, I create a notebook with an envelope for each port. All my maps, research, tours, info etc goes into the envelope. When we're at that port, the envelope goes into my day bag and I'm set. A highlighter works for the daily newsletters on board.

50% refund is standard if even part of the excursion happened. The only time we've ever gotten 100% was when the tour operator just didn't show up at all. For an elite passenger, you sure seem unexplainably upset over something relatively minor.

Ships move through the canal 24/7 but don't worry, it's lit up like daytime so you can see everything going on. One of our canal trips was at 4:30 in the morning so everyone was half asleep on the rails.

Thanks for the review. We're looking forward to our first HAL cruise on the Ryndam in Sept.

Any thoughts on the Ryndam, Greek Islands trip, Sept 2014?

If you post your question on the Italy forum, you'll get more suggestions than you can handle:

Have a wonderful cruise. In Rome we stayed in a B&B and in Venice we rented an apartment.

We have been to Cuba 3 times through the only legal means available to a US citizen, a people to people cultural group. We've been to 14 of the 15 provinces. If I can answer any questions about your upcoming Cuban experience, you can email me at ritalou1125 at att dot net. Please put CC Cuba in the subject line.

It's not really a winery and their "wines" are not the traditional "made with grapes" kind of wine. It's pineapple, mango, coconut, lychee, etc. As a confirmed wino, I cannot recommend any of their "wines".

Thanks for the review. It brought back pleasant memories of our Sapphire Alaska trip.
