  1. C & A stated that because of the resent 3 drink coupons that the rumor begin. Then they told me that the coupons were on a trial and they are waiting for the feedback --- the trial was done because of all the complaints that the people they maybe traveling with are not D or D+ and P so C & A are listening to those that have called and put in their voice about this. I also added that I liked the idea of the coupons when traveling with friends that are not D, but also enjoy going into the D lounge to talk with other members.

To add I was not her first call about this either.

I also wonder why people think D would lose DL access. Did RCI just refurbish all these ships and add a Diamond Club complete with brand new signs just to kick the Ds out and have to yank down and replace all those signs? I seriously doubt they would continue to call it a Diamond Club if Diamonds aren't allowed.

^^^This was the first thing I thought when I started reading this thread! ^^^^

Honestly, sometimes CC has it right, and things get posted here before they're announced. But sometimes it's wrong. And I think it's a huge mistake to assume that adding a level between D+ and PC = kicking Diamonds out of their *on many ships* new lounges!!

  2. I would think there is a legitimate complaint if you loop that in with a few other complaints:

~ Lack of escargot in the MDR

    ~ No more towel animals

~ towels smell like smoke on pool deck

~ The new smoking policy that begins Jan 1, 2014

    ... am I forgetting anything??

Maybe you want to make a claim to the trip insurance...

Girl! You made me giggle, loudly, at work and now I have to try and explain myself!

I understand the frustration but seriously you can let this p** you off or you can count your blessings instead. You probably work hard for the ability to cruise several times a year. We get it. No one is saying not to be frustrated. However, don't let it ruin your day or week. Look on the bright side; because when you cruise with RCL there is ALWAYS a bright side :p

  3. After the show, we headed to the promenade to see Po from Kung Fu Panda. We ran into the flash mob and were stuck there so we wandered into the cupcake store.

Thanks for showing the Gluten Free ones! I have been DYING of curiosity!!

    Shrek & Fiona get down!!

I've noticed most of the characters have amazing faces and construction. Shrek and Fiona= not so much! I can't wait to show my daughter. I know She'll love the gang from Madagascar and Kung-Fu Panda, but she will be disappointed by Fiona. Luckily it's not her fav of the Dreamworks movies.

  4. I am seriously considering this cruise. It will all come down to $$, unfortunately and if I can get the vacation time! It's a serious bummer to want to book in advance, but I can't request vaca days until March of next year, barely 6 months in advance. I can't imagine the devastation I will encounter if I booked this and then had to cancel. BOO!

  5. Are you sure you want to cancel just because your friends did? I say, go, have a great time and show them all the pics and make them jealous! :D And next time, don't do the big group thing, this happens a lot. :( Book your own vacation and have a great time!

    I'm with M!

They had you pay early. Final payment is due 75 days before a cruise. You have 89 day until your cruise. You can cancel in the next 2 weeks and receive a full refund. You final payment date will be the 26th after which penalty will apply.

For some holiday sailings, final is required 90 days before. Call your TA ASAP! Hope everything works out for you.

  6. Seems strange that the non alcohol package goes from $6.50/day to$20/day just for specialty coffee. Hopefully they have just the soda package still. Kids don't drink any and neither do I.

So the $6 soda package will be gone then?

I don't need the water, juice, or coffee. I just want the soda. This really bums me out if it is $20 a day.

    To Sum Up:

The traditional soda fountain package, the stand-alone bottled water package and the bottled juice packages will still be available, as will the wine and dine package (one of my favorites :D ). Also, with the select, premium and ultimate package you can get 20% off bottles of wine! I can't wait to use this when I cruise in May!

  7. Actually, I am a good tipper having worked in the service industry in my 20s. But if a server goes out of his way to verify something that silly then he's going to lose his tips. I don't need or want service from someone that underhanded and/or greedy.

Maybe he or she is just trying to follow the rules to avoid being reprimanded by a supervisor. What is underhanded or greedy about that? The server does not pocket that $25. :p

It really irks me when people want to give someone a hard time for just doing their job or not making an exception for them.

When your job requires that you operate under certain protocol, and your customers want you to make exceptions for them, that puts you in a VERY awkward spot. It's really not fair.

Also, I haven't encountered an automatic 15% gratuity on the corkage fee, but I definitely tip the server that is opening my bottle of wine. Jus' Sayin'

  8. Name:

Didn't RCCL register the following names:

    • Ovation of the Seas
    • Passion of the Seas
    • Pulse of the Seas

I think Ovation of the Seas would go well with the Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas. As for Passion and Pulse? ICK.

This still leaves us with no name for the Oaisis III

  9. Ray in NH -- still not happy with the "Run Around" we're getting from RCI

Most likely you are not getting a "run around" but the staff you are speaking to simply don't have the information and are strictly prohibited from "speculating." Remember, they have calls recorded whereas the ship staff can speak more freely. In which case it must be hard to separate rumors from fact.

  10. FYI: If you take off the auto-tip, they CANNOT keep the cash!:(

They have to turn it in or face possible termination!

They have to divide the money anyway...Just sayin'.:p

    Seriously?!

Have we gotten an answer to where this information comes from?

I'm not trying to start problems, this just seems absurd. I have heard of companies that require all employees to "pool" their tips and I think it's absolute stupidity. When I was a waitress I got my tips. They were from the customers to ME for MY hard work. I always tipped out the kitchen and bus boys for their support but it was my choice and not required.

  11. I was having the same problem. Finally called in an evening and got through. This is what you have to do:

Go to the RCI website and be sure you are NOT logged in.

Under "Before you Board" choose Countdown to Cruise

Enter in your Info (last name, res #, DMY of departure, and ship)

You should be now able to see your reservation.

    Go to Cruise Documentation

    Guest Vacation Docs- check status

    Click "Print Document"

You can now view and/or print your seapass.

You can make any other changes to your account (excursions, reservations, shows, check balance, etc.) and do online check-in from here.

It's wonky and complicated, but 21 minutes on the phone later I had it mastered.

This works for your luggage tags and cruise documents, but you HAVE to go into Online Check-in to get your SetSail pass for boarding. Two different areas.

I have this same problem on 2 out of 6 reservations i have.

Call Crown & Anchor. There is an adjustment that they can make to your profile that helps resolve these problems in most cases. They are definitely aware of the issue and doing everything they can to get it resolved ASAP.

  12. We have sailed with several Pinnacle members over the years and they have certainly earned their distinction. Anyone that has reached 700 points has earned the upgrades and dinner with the captain(officer) and whatever else they get. Over the 30+ years that we have been C&A members the perks have been really nice and the changes, for the most part, have been positive. The things that have been implemented to refine the program are usually attacked but make sense when the big picture is considered. Cruise lines are not the only ones with loyalty programs and the parameters change from time to time as business dictates. As was previously noted, there are perks(levels)that kick in at 340/350 and again at 525. There is no need to invent more names to quantify them.

Are there really people that are impressed with an "officer's dinner" or that bathroom amenities (that they previously provided, but took), or another free glass of wine is an incentive to spend thousands more on cruises? or that it makes them feel more "special" than the other passengers on board?

The officer assigned to have dinner with you isn't having dinner with you by choice or because he finds you interesting. The bathroom amenities are something I can bring myself that suit my particular tastes. If I'm spending thousands on a vacation, I can afford the drinks and the "freebie" in the grand scheme of things is pretty small and trivial. I appreciate getting the Diamond discount on a balcony and I use the discount on the wash and fold, but that amounts to a total of about $265. While I don't throw it back in their face, it's not a deal breaker or maker. Shampoo and dinner with a stranger, not of my choosing would certainly not be an incentive to sail or to be loyal to Royal. I'd prefer they skip all this and just increase the discount with the number of cruises that matches the value. They give the other discounts/coupons knowing that only a certain number of them will actually be used.

Also, Royal has one of the top rated Loyalty programs in the industry. We can nit-pick the little details but overall it seems like the good outweighs the bad. What it comes down to maybe isn't the benefits, but the cruise line itself. Sure, it's nice to have free drinks, even if you can afford them. It's great to get a couple hundred (or even $100) off of your cruise. The truth is that most people are not going to pick their cruise based soley on these benefits but are going to pick the cruise line that treats them the best. The Crown & Anchor society is just one piece of the puzzle.

  13. CAS Saving Certificates are combinable with Restricted Rates (Resident, Military, Police and Fire). One is applied as a coupon and the other is used at time of booking. With RCCL's new booking system this has not changed. Calling into RCI with your travel agent on the phone and asking if these 2 can be combined will get you the answer and get your TA the accurate info.

This is absolutely true. If your TA refuses to do this, then they may be hiding something from you. Try calling C&A and asking them to reach out in a conference call to your TA so that you can get this resolved. Explain what is happening and ask for their assistance!

10:30pm - my travel agent emailed me regarding my email to him telling him I called Royal and the rep said YES to combining discounts.........he said he called Royal again and when they put in my booking, etc. it REMOVED the $225 C&A certificate........for some reason Royal says I can't combine the C&A and the resident discount. I am really discouraged now and very confused abut this whole thing:(

This may be a glitch with the new system. Again, go with getting a conference call between your TA and Royal!!

  14. You can always simulate a cruise evening:

    - Heat up a room

    - turn on a fan for a breeze

    - Play reggae music

    - Make a few frozen drinks

    - invite a few friends to join you for your "mock cruise"

I would definitely do something nice for yourself that day. Go to your Zumba class, then have something FUN planned for the rest of the day, even a few small fun things. Taking a ride to AC sounds good! When I lived in NJ I used to go there to walk the boardwalk and get a bite at the HRC.

Then maybe go to a movie that night, or plan a girls' night, or something. Treat yourself to some flowers, a nice bottle of wine, just something to console yourself with.

Sounds like a lot of great ideas! Isn't it wonderful to have somewhere that we can VENT about our "first-world" problems and be understood?:D It really is a mental health issue for me! I work very hard, and long hours and cherish my vacation time! ;)
