  1. We are doing a cruise this year vs the all inclusive, I already know the trip this year wil be more money, but hopefully an enjoyable trip....the key to finding a nice resort, ship, or destination is research and being realistic.....

Last year we visited huatulco.new secrets resort in january...did not see a cloud until the day we left. In fact over 15 years of vacations usually in jan or feb, we had 20 minutes of a rainshower in Jamaica.

    Our favorites....party spot cabo

    Snorkel spot...st kitts and cozumel

    Beach...manzanillo, mx and huatulco, mx

    Active vacation, sandals mo bay

    Lazy beach....pt vallarta, sosua, d.r.

    Overall....st kitts

  2. Hank,

Not sure where the confusion is....you mentioned not using insurance, rental car, etc from your TA, so them throwing this in as part of your package would not mean as much as more OBC.

Its different for every traveller....I would prefer 1000 airfare credit rather than OBC. For some its all about OBC.

  3. Cruise 10000....what I was referring to was OBC being a perception bonus, but everyone views it different....

To most non drinkers an inclusive beverage package is a wasted perk, yet they might prefer a dinner at the steakhouse instead, or a pre cruise hotel.

You need to know your client base and utilize the perks they will see as perks, not what the lastest incentives being pushed through corporate.

Bottom line, people like to get something for free, or a bonus, perk, whatever you call it....

  4. In the form of getting perks, etc from your TA...good agents will get you something, most I know will flip back a good portion of their commission if not all back to the customer..that's how to build a client base...why steal from the select few when you can rob from the masses so to speak...plus the perks given are made up by selling that travel insurance, prehotel, car rental etc.

OBC are misleading because of the value is relative to the customers view of what is of importance to them.

  5. I know all ships kindly include "tipping" service charges...though not really hidden, it is an imposed fee..in which case, include it in with my rate...I understand the need to encompass the service staff, as I lived off tips in my earlier days.

I would be curious to see the allocation of the monies spread out and to whom the 12 dollars goes to.
