Looking at a Princess cruise debating from Piraeus (Athens) at 7pm.
Due to our schedule we won't get time on our return in Athens so want to soak up as much time in town before we board.
Any view on what the cutoff time is for checking in and what is a safe time to aim for. Seems the port itself isnt too far from the city centre of Athens.

RCCL just had a kids sail free promotion in December. There is a 60% off second guest, plus 20% off the third and fourth guest going on right now. Might be a good time to book and then keep watching for the kids sale free promotion.
Thanks, guess I will watch out if it comes up as it may help make the decision.

Thanks for the feedback, i was actually evaluating against flights as I have a lunch commitment with friends at a certain tine in Rome as opposed to a concern about hours there.

Have been looking at a possible med cruise this summer and wanted to get an idea from experienced family travellers if kids sail free, 3/4th in cabin free or discounted occurs on RCL?
Have cruises before but would be First time sailing on RCL and with our DS and on who will be 1y at the time of the cruise.
Trying to decide if we wait a while to see if an offer comes or pull the trigger now.

Looking at a booking this summer on RCL Rhapsody of the Seas arriving and departing from Venice.
Return to Venice is 6:45am trying to get an idea of the earliest possible train to Rome we can take.
There are trains at 7:37am, 8:37am 9:12am
Wondering if either of the first two are possible if we carry luggage off ourselves.

Yes you can but to insure you don't sneak pouring your booze into the non-alcohol drinks they have a security person follow you every time you order drinks until you finish......enjoy.
Den
Is it considered impolite to ask the security person to hold your bags for you while you enjoy your drink?
Assume this is covered in the grats or am I expected to keep singles on me for tipping them.

Does celebrity provide clothing irons in the rooms? If not do they provide them on request? And is there any restriction to bringing one onboard.

Off topic but connected to the Canadian / USD point.
I'm from Canada and would buy these certificates from Celebrity Canada but will using them be an issue since my booking is with a large online travel agent in USD ? Gave the travel agent our Canadian address etc?

Often see people quoting some variant of ‘Doesn’t Celebrity get that is cheaper to retain an existing customer than getting a new one’. Did anyone ever stop and think that Celebrity knows that but is also very aware that experienced purchasers are on average not as high margin due to their knowledge.
Let’s look at a list of things you typically won’t see a first time cruiser do.
• Carry-on bottled water
• Carry-on bottles of wine
• Avoid ship tours for independent tours
• Figure out how to avoid spending OBC (convert at casino)
• chase fare drops
• stack perks and benefits
• not purchase photographs
And last but not least instead of complaining to anyone who would listen to them about how the product isn’t as nice as it was in the good old days, they tell everyone how interesting an experience their first cruise was!
Yes some first time cruisers don’t fit this norm (likely those who seek out sites like CC) but I suspect they are very much in the minority.
You maybe a valued passenger but don’t assume that doesn’t mean your as profitable, if this category of passenger was more profitable they likely would be doing more to retain them, just as they are doing for their valuable (and profitable) suite guests with last years upgraded Suite benefits (even for those who booked before they were announced).

I suspect the drinks package is key to Celebrities decision, but not because 'everyone' has the drinks package but because they want to encourage as many people as possible to purchase the drinks package. The way to do that is raise individual drink prices and limit to the greatest extent possible free drinks across the ship giving the drinks package a greater perceived value. Eliminating daily water bottles in Aqua and likely very soon the free bottle of bubbly are all steps towards that end.
In terms of eliminating perks/benefits, everyone seems to forget that the CC universe and similar vocal groups are a small subset of the cruising population. It's likely easier for Celebrity to ignore grandfathering booking time benefits but instead onboard or through captain's club grant back the benefit to the tiny population who complain and demand satisfaction be it daily water bottles, specialty meals for suites etc... Most people are first time cruises on celebrity and many who book don't focus on each and every amenity and thus are not aware of them they grade on their overall experience.

thanks for the feedback. pro-rata would have been nice but wouldn't have made much of a difference anyways.

Looking at unlimited internet packages for a 7 day cruise the rate appear to be $199 for the week or $59 for a day (24 hour period from activation).
1. Wanted to check if anyone knows if the $199 is a fixed rate or would there be a reduced pro-rata rate if taken mid-way through the cruise similar to a drinks package?
2. Additionally do the rates have any additional tax and/or gratuties that are added to them?
3. Is the process of logging in and out of devices simple? Will be looking at using on multiple devices

By what time do people find the rush slows down and you can get a table without a significant wait?

Booked on Silhouette departing Fort Lauderdale at 4:30pm. Intending to do a late lunch in Miami before cruise.
Wanted to find out if there is a firm cutoff time for boarding the boat and/or reaching the dock for check-on prior to departure?

In this circumstance since any credit is in the form of chips that must be bet (and on which the casino has the opportunity to make the houses betting edge) do they give the full face value of still reduce 5% first.

Slightly off topic but After 11pm is there any other place onboard where food is available?
If you pay the fee is it possible after hours to get food delivered elsewhere on the ship? Thinking out on a pool deck, lawn, public spaces etc?

Is there any limit on how much stuff can be ordered? Just want to know if I decide to throw a huge midnight party if I can pay a single charge. [emoji12]

Just a suggestion - in this day and age most people read message boards via smart phones and tablets using and app so it would be beneficial if people could begin putting the ship's name in the actual post and not the title where it's not displayed.
CruisingChick I also use one of the smartphone apps but really I don't think this is about people changing how people post, its about the apps fixing or adding a feature to their software to allow you to see the title even if not shown by default

Last year on the Equinox iLounge used an external hard drive and SD cards successfully in the iMacs to transfer and backup photos
Additional convoluted option since they have classes on iPads I would imagine involve syncing with your computer that syncing of an iPad is an option (depending on if you have enough free storage) for backing up files from an SD.

That's an even better idea! The OP will pay for parking at The Riverside. This way the limo can drop them off at the hotel.
Or use Uber. I think Uber is only around $50.
If you've never used it before, please use my promo code to get $20 off your ride making it $30.
Uber Promo Code: e27tw
Regular user of uber have used them on three continents and more than a half dozen countries.

Blueherons that sounds like a good plan, let me research out rates for the hotel. Fingers crossed as everything is relatively expensive due to the season

I use Tapatalk on an Android device and for some reason I an see all forums including Roll Calls but i'm not able to see the Florida Departures board on the App, I see the other American Homeports also, just not this one.
Anyone else facing a similar problem?
Did you get your SDP?
in Norwegian Cruise Line

If you have the SDP promo do you have to make all your bookings before you board, or can you just turn up to a specialty restaurant and subject to availability be seated (with the meal being covered by the promo?)
