  1. I requested upgrade when I called Celebrity and they did it atomatically. I'm sure if you spoke to TA and explained what you wanted and gave your Captains # it would work. Make sure she doesn't book without getting upgrade (of course as explained here some categories don't work with upgrades)

  2. I just booked my first Celebrity cruise and am Diamond Plus. Be sure join the Celebrity Captains Club and let them know your status on RCCL.

When you do book give your new Captains Club # and tell them you want to upgrade one category or you won't get it automatically.

When you do book be sure to tell them you want the discounted deposit or you won't get it.

Go to the top of Celebrity Cruise Critic page and go to sticky for "room information. Go to ship or class of ship and you can find many many rooms listed and information on the particular room you are looking for.

  4. I've been on these boards for years and have read now and again where someone misses the boat ..... I definitely remember reading how someone from Royal would always be at the pier to help personally get you situated. I have also remembered how 2 people actually were put on another ship (probably same line) to meet up at next port. If the ship actually did leave at 5pm and it was the expected time I'd DEFINITELY send a copy of this saga to someone in charge at Royal and hopefully get some reimbursement from them. Stop saying it wasn't their fault. I've been on many Caribbean cruises where we left 1/2hour to 1 hour late while we see people running to the ship. Those ships waited. Sorry but I do think they could have waited.

  5. Before you get started I just booked for the first time Celebrity as a D+ RCCL cruiser. I'm assuming you know you need to call Celebrity to get your membership on Celebrity Captains Club membership as an Elite because you are Diamond +. When you book you have "to ask" to be given a one category upgrade" because they don't just offer it to you. You also have "to ask for the $50 deposit" rather than normal deposit. JFYI Now have a great cruise. I booked Equinox and it is under 3000 passengers.

Also look at their "stickies" at top of page and you can learn a lot about cabins. They actually have hundreds of cabin numbers with reviews.

  6. I am new to Celebrity and have been looking forward to sailing on Celebrity for quite some time. I did book my cruise last week (I am Elite thru RCCL) and didn't know about this perk until today (THANK YOU OP) and called and got my upgrade Thanks again

  7. Not to throw a wet towel on this thread but there have been incidents of rape and assault on cruise ships. You don't always see this in newspapers but try googling rapes on cruise ships. I agree your daughter can be as mature as anything but when you are on vacation having a grand old time you do let your guard down and think oh isn't this just lovely and I can trust anyone. Well it is not so always. Be careful.

  8. Thanks to everyones input I took 6210 obstructed view but it is on an angle so feel confident no problems will arise. It's in Europe so everyday we will be going off the ship when in port(not like in Caribbean where we stay on ship everyday as we have been too many times to those ports).

    TY again for your help.

  9. For what it's worth:

Here is a photo from the "hump" of the Eclipse (same configuration as the Equinox) looking back towards the aft 2C cabins. There are no 2D cabins in this view but on the 2D cabins the lifeboats come up just above the top of the white supports.

Here is a photo of the aft of the Equinox, taken by Andrew Depping and on his cruise ship photo site. Mr. Depping lives in Germany, I'm guessing not far from the shipyard that built the S class ships, and his photo site has lots of photos of them during and just after construction. You can see the taller lifeboat/tenders in front of the 2D cabins and the shorter lifeboats in front of the 2C cabins. If you look carefully you'll notice you can see the bottom of the railing behind of the 2C cabins but that the boats in front of the 2D cabins block about 2/3 or 3/4 of the railing height from the view in the photo.

Thanks for the pix ....they really gave me a good idea of what to expect.

  10. Has anyone stayed in a MS without Balcony (particularly Island Princess). I'd like to see pictures or comments of what you thought. I'm looking at the transatlantic which could be rough water...and rooms being so far up front to the bow makes me nervous. But it being cool weather out there on Atlantic the big windows in room and extra space makes it seem inviting. Any one ????

  11. I have recently taken out a yearly travel guard policy after finding that Medicare does not cover anything outside of the USA. it would be a loss if I had to cancel a cruise or such but I can handle that. I can't afford a large medical bill. Also had to make sure that I have medical on my auto policy as Medicare does not cover medical expenses caused by a auto accident. The travel policy covers and provides a lot of other benefits besides medical and is cheaper than what the cruise line charges. It is $259 pp for a year.

    Happy cruising [emoji305][emoji568][emoji631][emoji560]

TY for this interesting info. Amazing what you learn on these boards. Now if I take this travel guard policy will it cover me for the cruise and any time I spend in Europe after transatlantic cruise? tyvm
