Ever since they've taken what was a special night and dumbed it down, it's no longer like going "to the ball". It's more like going to the mall, so the best we do is jacket and tie, and dress.
You wear a jacket and tie to the mall ?

I have this vision of the stampede that will ensue once the doors open as ticket holders scamper towards the UNRESERVED seats. Or maybe even better, passengers bringing sleeping bags on board so they can stake out "their place in line" right after breakfast that morning. That vision includes those calm interactions between guests as they challenge each other over "those seats are taken" responses. Or finally the relaxed manner in which a ticket holder tells Carnival staff that "there is no way in hell they are going to sit behind that pillar. I paid the same price that everyone else did and expect to be able to see the stage". The concept of paying for entertainment adds a whole new dynamic to enjoying performances on the ship. Or maybe I am just being unrealistic. Only problem is, I doubt it.
Very good point I will aka John how they will control this

Thanks, Webb. That's great news! Have heard really good things about Willie.
Any idea where/when John posted/blogged it? I can't find it anyway.
Thanks again for your help!
Someone asked him this week on face book and he said w
It was Willie Lee. Not cruised with him so do not know him. Enjoy the cruise
-
The beginning of the slippery slope. Don't forget to tip the entertainment as well.
Why are you concerned about a cruise line you have no intention of cruising on and haven't I'm sure for many years. Just saying
-
Any way to find out who the cruise director will be on the June 15 sailing? It's not listed on John's cruise director schedule.
Help.
John mentioned it would be someone called Willy Lee.
-
Love and marriage is that the same and newlywed game? If so that's the best show of the week
Reality television is a big catch and every cruise I have been on there have been hundreds of passengers attending because this is a reality show of sorts. That's why they are continuing to be so popular. Just sayin
-
Paid entertainment after all the cutbacks? Who didn't see that one coming.
Open seating? Disaster waiting to happen. Iceberg! Right ahead!
On John's Facebook page this morning he mentioned a small group of people who are determined to complain about everything that Carnival does. I can't think who he was talking about can you?
-
I guess they think we are stupid.
Gradually scale back production enterrainment, replace it with ametuer hour, and then replace that with sharge for entertainment.
Raise the fares for those cruises while you're at it based in supply and demand.
Unlesspay for entertainment is rejected.
Problem is, these are all B acts, or less.
I am shocked and horrified that you are not happy with this announcement. I would never have guessed it.
-
Why ease up?? Is Carnival some poor little creature to be coddled?
Is this Cruise Critic or Cruise Cheerleader?
To me this silly move is a way to get more $$ - charge for these so called entertainers and then jack up the price of the cruise
what are people who do not wish to see them going to do? No show for them . As someone pointed out - arrival in port is later that day...
and price of cruise just went up - you pay for ticket on top of that
John Wrote on his Facebook page that the ships would be staying in Port until 1 AM. He also wrote that there would be comedy shows that artists and lots of other live music. I see no evidence that the price of the cruise has risen since this was announced. It definitely is not cruise cheerleader because that would
be a happy page and I am sure we would not find you on a happy page now would we.

Heald just posted an update to what ships will be receiving the new menus:
Carnival Inspiration - February 3rd
Carnival Imagination - February 16
Not sure if this is actually breaking news but last I had heard role out for Liberty was scheduled for January. I guess they have adjusted their plans. Personally I am disappointed, I really liked the look of the new menus despite all of the complaints I’ve read here. Change can be good, but people are always so against it. Oh well, maybe I will get to try it next year (if it sticks around)!
His first name is John, just in case you didn't know
-
I went back to the dolphin excursion and saw that they raised their prices by $10....which isn't alot, but when there is only a $10 difference with Carnival, i would rather book through Carnival for the obc.....They're very smart
I would ask John and get the answer straight from the source

OMG! I must have wiped that out of my mind. We did go to see that after enjoying Mike Myers doing Shrek.
And OMG, we walked out halfway through that movie. It was HORRIBLE!
What a shocker

Generally their major announcements have not been what most of us think of as major.
Most if us? speak just for yourself.
-
We just got of the Sapphire Princess & once again, didn't leave impressed!
There are no TV channels, like ABC, NBC...The TV channels they have, run on a loop. We were watching the same episodes of the Love Boat this last weekend as we saw in Oct.
I ordered wine glasses from room service, and one was filthy with lipstick all over it!
No room service, not even coffee this morning...since is was disembarkation day:(
Miss the piano bar & comedy club:(
We have one more booked for Feb. and then it will be back to the Funships for us! We were on a 100% fare that goes toward a 7 day special, so went ahead and booked as soon as the credits appeared this morning. We had to book with an outside TA, since Princess site was 400.00 more per person for the same category. No matching of other sites with Princess.
I did my share of gambling in the casino & was told I didn't play enough. I would have qualified had I done the same play on Carnival. I usually always get a gift basket & sometimes cash also.
Miss feeling special...At least on Carnival they call me by name;
We had to ask for robes for our balcony & couldn't be delivered until the 2nd day. They were so small & thin, they were useless!
I am craving warm chocolate melting cake!
Carnival gives you a drink for being repeat guests...Princess doesn't.
Thanks for letting me vent! I wish our next cruise was going to be on a Funship, but we will be back:)
Nice post. It's a shame that because its a positive comment about Carnival it will not get anywhere near the number of reads and replies here as a negative one does, says a lot. Good read though. Thank you

While you're asking, ask him if the escargot will be in shortage for floods or drought this year, and will he know the difference.
Certainly slimey creatures will be a subject I will be talking to him about on facebook
-
I've called him out on a lot of things on his page. He knows who I am. :p:rolleyes:
I will ask him just to make sure.
-
Then he misrepresented and misled by not saying "while supplies last". The truth is not in him.
Say that on his page, go on be brave for once.
-
No they didn't. Read the whole thread. And then the apology form the liquor beard who it seems is also clueless.
Sorry not true. They still had it available. You said over and over again, next ?
-
Which makes one curious why this ship is being glorified for a dry dock with major enhancements. It's one of their newer ships.
Why are you guess, speculating. They have decided to make a change, companies do that all the time. Let us wait and see what they announce .
-
The ships still had Morgans rum and that's what he said.
-
You would spend days reading the mistruths and backpeddlinng.
The ONLY thing I take him at his work is entertainment. Used to be bar stuff too, until he lied about the Captain Morgans.
Not true.
-
Just do your own search. I'm not reposting everything you missed.
Point proven. Thank you
-
Johns credibility in announcements is pretty poor, proven over and over and over......
Totally untrue And totally unfounded. Point the cases where this is true.
-
There is one poster, posting under 4-5 different names, that tries to whip up a frenzy every time a ship is going into dry dock. Starting multiple threads about the same thing, with nothing but pure speculation and rumor. Their guess is as good as yours. ;)
The correct information Comes from John's Facebook page as he has he done today.
