  1. We were on this same cruise and totally agree, the concerts, interviews, Q&A's, etc. were fantastic! Unfortunately, we were less than impressed with Celebrity all around. The majority of the crew members we encountered seemed less than enthusiastic about being there. We were able to get smiles and conversation from a handful of them, while the rest seemed over extended. Since we were in concierge class and did not have private dining, we chose to try the specialty dining areas. Again, we were underwhelmed by the food both in Qsine and Tuscan. The buffet was okay and the dining room was nothing special. We were on the Rock Legends Cruise last year on RCCL (I think it was Independence) and the crew seemed much happier and the food was better all around. This was our first experience with Celebrity and I must admit, we are in no hurry to book again. We will stick with RCCL and Oceania for future cruises. We did enjoy ourselves and the music and artists who performed... they were all gracious and very talented. Looking forward to seeing The Guess Who in May at EPCOT!

  2. Great review! Thanks for sharing! We are on the 70’s Cruise this weekend. Really appreciate your insights. We are in concierge class, but opted for the 3 night specialty dining package. Have you by chance heard anything about the specialty restaurants? We have to make our reservations once we board and trying to decide how to use the 3 nights. We have sailed Royal many times, but this is our first time on Celebrity. Looking forward to it. One more question... what time did you start boarding? Driving from Ponce Inlet, FL (about 3.5 hours) so trying to decide on timing. :). Thanks so much, enjoy the rest of your cruise and I look forward to reading more about it!! Cheers!

  3. Departing soon (Saturday) for our first cruise aboard the Summit. We’ve purchased a 3 night specialty dining package and would love suggestions on where to dine. Should we try all 3 restaurants or stick to certain venues? Read a few reviews that were not favorable to Tuscan Grille. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

  4. I originally posted asking if the Dining Package was worth the money, but realize now I should have asked my question a little differently... for those who have previously been on a Rock & Romance Cruise - is it “doable” to purchase the Dining Package with concert schedules? We won’t get the actual schedule until mid February and since this is our first time on this cruise, we are uncertain as to how the concerts work. We don’t want to miss any of the performances. Our only experience has been with the Rock Legends cruise and each group/Artist performed at least 3 different times, making it easier to see them all. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

  5. From my research of the Summit (our ship), we will be in the MDR. Appears Luminae is for suite class guests and Blu for Aqua class. We are merely concierge :). It also appears there isn’t a Murano on this ship. Given info from above and the nature of the cruise, unsure if we want to spend 2 hours overeating and possibly missing some shows. Concert schedule should be available mid Feb, so it might be best to wait before deciding. Cruise is 5 nights and it appears the smallest package is for 4 nights. Thanks again for all the thoughts and advice!

  6. First time on Celebrity, have recently been sailing Oceania and prior to that Royal Carribean and Disney. We are on a music cruise, so no extra perks offered at booking. Should we upgrade to specialty dining? Cost would be approximately $125 pp for 4 nights. Received such good advice on pros and cons of drink package, decided to seek advice from seasoned Celebrity cruisers. :) Thanks!

  7. First time on Celebrity. In past, have purchased drink package. DH drinks beer and an occasional glass of wine with dinner, or bloody mary with breakfast. I drink wine and champagne. Looking at the Premium package ($65 per day). Is it worth the price? On vacation, we tend to drink a beer/wine with lunch, 1-2 drinks in the afternoon, 1-2 with dinner and an occasional drink after dinner. DH likes the premium beers, I enjoy the nicer whites and champagnes. Any help/advice is much appreciated.

  8. There is absolutely no problem walking from the Marriott Pinnacle to the cruise ship terminal. We live half a block away from the hotel and we walk in the area both during the day and in the evening. It's definitely safe and an easy walk.

I appreciate your first hand knowledge and input on this. We will definitely walk to the terminal!

  9. It is 800m from the Waterfront Station at the end of the Canada Line. We would walk it but that is a personal thing.

Thanks for the information. This is probably the route we will take. We don't mind walking at all. Thanks for the information on name of the station near the hotel. Cheers!

  10. Thanks to everyone for the information. We are staying at the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown in Vancouver. Having lived in Paris and Atlanta, we are comfortable with using public transportation. The Canada Line sounds perfect. Also, in Seattle, we are staying at the Marriott Waterfront. Will check into Already there. We have an 8:30 AM flight out of Seattle, so will need to leave bright and early. Don't want to take any chances of missing the flight. As for walking to and from the Cruise Terminals, we are happy to walk the short distance. We will have 2 suitcases and backpacks for each of us, but again, having lived and traveled in Europe, we are used to handling such when walking and taking public transport. Thanks again for all the great information and insight!

  11. Thanks for the input. Guess I wasn't clear. We are flying into Vancouver and cruising Alaska and cruise ends in Seattle. Transfers are just to airports. You are correct, have never been to Seattle, but the hotel is .2 miles from the cruise terminal. Perhaps we should change hotels? It's a highly rated Marriott. Was advised by friends who have done this trip that we should stay in that area.

  12. Staying on our own one night on both ends of our cruise (Oceania hotels are double what we can do on our own as most of you have said). Trying to figure out best way to get from Vancouver Airport to Hotel and then from Seattle Waterfront District to Seattle Airport. (Both hotels are less than 1/2 mile from the cruise terminals, so we will transfer on foot for that portion.) I was able to get an estimated rate on Uber for the Seattle trip and it looks like $55-$67. Would appreciate advice and/or suggestions from those of you who have done this before. Thanks!
