It's not the seas, it's the crosswinds at the very narrow harbor entrance.

    Stunt? OK.

Looking at the previous posts on this Viking site, it appears that your ship has missed multiple ports, all seemingly for the same reason. Perhaps the ship's length and breadth is not conducive to the seas associated with the world cruise. We have had no problem docking at Port Elizabeth in the same rough seas that turned you away.

Neptune Captain is 'refusing' to leave as the ship cannot take the crosswinds. HIs announcement said it isn't feasible - much less safe - with as much windage as the ship has.

This is the Queen Victoria. The seas are calm and if we have been circling Cape Town since 7 a.m., your captain could leave the port if he chooses. Your ship is comparable to ours. We are all p*ssed at Viking...universal opinion is no one will ever sail with Viking after this stunt. Queen Mary 2 arrives tomorrow and you will be outgunned by Cunard....

  3. We just booked NY to NY Queen Mary 2 leaving January 3, 2022. By using our FCC from the unused 2020 WC, one ticket is already paid for. We will try again! We like the repeats of some ports; it allows us to venture in depth into those countries. Hope to see many repeaters again on this voyage!

  4. Can anyone tell if, in the pubs and bars, there have been American football games? Now that the QE is cruising into American waters, we Yanks who have not boarded yet are curious if they are televising the NFL playoffs....noting the Superbowl will be approaching in February when we are somewhere in the South Pacific. Note to the Brits- we Americans may refer to your football as soccer; for us, football is NFL. Sorry.....:( Gary and Andrea

  5. Sorry all, but we have never been very good at dates, as exampled by our gaffe watching yesterday's webcam and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the QE in New York. Thank you for the text stating we were premature....quite, quite premature. My poor husband had an anxiety attack, panicked at the thought that maybe our own boarding date was incorrect. He sifted through several sites before being reassured that , yes, the ship will stop in Fort La- Dee- Da on the 21st. Yes, down here, that is the pet local name for Fort Lauderdale. For those of you looking for more favorable weather, Tuesday's temperatures will be in the upper 70' with no hint of rain. Gary and Andrea

  6. Hello fellow cruisers!

We are boarding the QE in Fort Lauderdale and continuing through to Southampton. Anyone else getting on there? We appear to be missing the special world parties in Southampton and New York....any get- to get here for this stop? We also will return to New York on the QM2 to complete encircling the globe. Gary and Andrea from Miami Beach:)
