FOD stands for Friends of Dorthy , she was a part of the gay straight alliance back when being gay was basically outlawed .

She used to hold large house parties for her gay friends where they could be themselves and relax without being judged .

it became a kind of code to identify other LGBT people by saying Are you a friend of Dorthy.

now people assume is in reference to Judy Garland but this isn't the case

Read that its hit or miss with FOD or LGBT gatherings on RCCL . I am travelling single and would like to try to arrange a last minute but on going meetup on board , anyone else part of the 'family' and on the same sailing . :)
