  1. Ive looked at Rome in Limo adn they have some interesting tours in Italy.  There are a couple out of rome that go to small towns .  Is anyone intersested in going in a small group?

Also Id like to go to Capri from Naples  - have you done that?   Discovery tours has a tour but it is very pricey.  I am not sure if it will be easy to coordinate getting to capri by hydrofoil and ensuring we return by 3 ish .  any ideas??

still looking at Turkey for tours.  I am disappointed the Grand Bazzar will be closed.and the blue mosques can only be seen from the outside.

Do you think they will have a whirling dervish show  on the Ambience???

  2. I also have been looking into port excursions especially in Alexandria  and in Turkey.  I got my turkey evisa today and now I will have to wait a few weeks for my Egyptian evisa

I would like to see what the cruiseline is offering for shore excursions.

and I am stoked about this itinerary although I wish we would be longer in some ports

Does this line to a meet and greet?

Im very glad to see that there are a few of you on this site.

  3. This is my first Splendida,  But because I am Elite on Princess there are all kinds of perks I am trying to become familliar with.  I am totally excited about the itinerary, The 54 day Shanghai to Hamburg is the longest cruise I have ever gone on.  It is actually 3 cruises back to back so I am not sure how that will work for getting off the boat to see some places.  I have pre purchased some MSC tours ( I hope they are good).  I cant find how to make a roll call for Dubai to Genoa.  Ive put a Rome in Limo note for when we go to Rome for anyone wanting to see outside of Rome, but so far no one has expressed interest.

I have also pre purchased lauundry packages but they are only for one time 40 items .  I am not sure about looking at the spa packages.. What is your view? anything that is a "must do" on the Splendida? Thanks,

    Jessica

  4. Hi wishing on a star, nice name. My experience on the shared tour site of rome in limo was very good.

I was worried that I would be reponsible for more than i wanted to pay BUT it does fill up 3 weeks before the cruise. Remember you can cancel if you like a few weeks before with no penalty. My rome in limo driver was professional and knew how to navigate the streets of rome. The tour gets you back to the ship on time and it is nice to go with a small group.

I did not realize i had to purchase tickets to the Vatican many months before. It gets sold out to the public and for a modest fee you can get them through rome in limo. The other thing that I can reccomend is that you pay for the private tour guide of the Vatican. If you get 6-8 people in the group it is not expensive and the value for money is amazing. Our guide had a phd in archeology and he was able to help our group navigate the highlights of the vaticans extensive amazing collection of psintings and srtifacts. I had no idea da vinci painted acvurate maps of the area. I was so surprised that michealangelos creation was so small....

We drove up to tge colleseum but did not go on a tour . No time and too many things to see.Rome is expensive you may not want to buy things there. I took Joe bananas "godfather tour" i shated some one elses tour. It was my favourite. Messina was amazing. Positano was lovely. Not much time to shop but heaven on earth.

I went to amalfi on my own. If you want to do Capri on your own you hafe to get up early to catch the hovercraft. The boat went to salerno but I got off the boat too late so i caught a ferry 8 euros each way to amalfi. I would go back to amalfi in a heart beat. I purchased an amazing bag (not cheap 200euros) but i am so glad i have it. I also got some blue leather shoes. Amalfi needs at least 3 to 4 hours.

Good luck with your research if you need a contact for taiwan i have one too. Now i am organizing tours for my february asia cruise. If you have any ideas id be glad for any info.

  5. I just returned from a Princess Mediteranean Cruise. I used Rome in Limo . Rome in Limo provided a great service in a very limited time . I had been to rome before and I knew it was HUGE and HOT and CROWDED and we would not be able to see much in the limited time we had. I had booked a Rome in Limo ride sharing so there were 7 other people who joined me from the ship. The van was spacious for all and air conditioned which was a blessing in the heat. ensuring we all stayed together so as not to get lost is like herding cats.

Our driver was very knowledgable regarding the history and the architecture and the classical perspective of roman culture. He also knew where to take us for bathroom breaks!

the ride from the port is long and depending on traffic it really eats into your tour time.

We chose not to go in to the colosseum but looked around at the outside. The fountain of Trevi was beautiful. I like the explanation of why it was so important.

it is a challenge to see some of the structures sitting in the back seats of the van, I would suggest get a van with windows on the roof! The person sitting in front gets the best view.

We stopped at the spanish steps and got out walked up and down the steps took a few million photos and then on to the next spot wich was a market shopping area where a number of people had lunch. I explored the shops. Some prices were high and I heard leather is less expensive in Florence. One little purse was over 100 euros it looked good but I actually purchased a nicer bag in Amalfi ( more expensive but unique and beautiful.)

The highlight for me was the vatican and sistine chapel. Our guide was brilliant. I would suggest you spend the extra money for a guide. It was the best! He was an archeologist who taught at the University and honestly he know so much about each room in the vatican and the maps ( da vinci) and the sculpures and the marble and omg I could have spent a week with him! He navigated us though the crowds to see key elements.

I was disapointed about how small michelangelos creation painting was . I was expecting something huge. Live and learn. The pieta was lovely.

We had to get our tickets through Rome in Limo because when we tried on our own they were all sold out. Of course they were a little more expensive but it all worked our well. espeically because the guide could get us in quickly and we did not have to deal with waiting.

NOTE each component of the trip you pay separately. The Guide , the tickets to the Vatican, and to the Rome in limo driver.

The drive back to the port was not too much traffic. we returned in plenty of time.

Yes I would reccomend Rome in Limo.

We have booked RomeInLimo for all three of our Italy stops - and everything I have read about them has been top-notch. They have suggested that we use a private guide on our tour of the Vatican at a cost of 150 Euros. Just wondering if anyone has used the private guide provided/suggested by RomeInLimo and either glad they did or thought it was a waste of money. Perhaps others have used private guides through other tour services as well - perhaps they can comment on this question as well.
