  1. If we list locations - potentially then cruises from WA and HI would also qualify (and potentially from Canada, Mexico, and much of Europe) ...also lumping in NJ departures with NY.

I was just thinking logistical East Coast ports since OP is out of ATL and NY was already mentioned. Now that we're up to 16(???) states and more countries hopping on the wagon monthly, long term possibilities are endless. Why not try for a Med cruise out of France? :D

  2. I believe the ones available when I was making reservations online for Serenade were 6:15 to 9:00 every 15 min except one 15 min block was missing. You can take a look at your reservation on the website.

On this topic, but slightly different question, we made reservations every night for MTD, can we change those daily or show up when we want if plans change?

  3. OMG, every time I'm on the Liberty Caribbean sailing the pool deck is packed on a Sunday during football season (I'll be on her for Superbowl). My daughter gets up there early to set up a place for us in the shade but with a view of the big screen.

I never thought of this for football. We are Auburn fans and the cruise director has confirmed that the National Championship game will be played during our cruise... Maybe outside?

Do they have the sound on for football games or some bad pop music?

  4. We just got off the Serenade on Saturday and we tipped our room steward $70 extra for the week - there were 3 of us in the room and he was GREAT to us!

It always pays to tip well, as you enjoy it more, too!

    Sorry off topic...

Wowprincess, was that the Western Caribbean cruise out of NOLA? My understanding is it was the first sailing for Serenade out of NOLA in quite some time and I was hoping for feedback. Please link to any reviews or threads you may have posted about it! Headed out Saturday :)

  5. Pardon me for asking, but why would you go on a cruise to watch football? Can't you do that at home?

I'd love to do it at home (actually, if I wasn't on the cruise I'd have found a way to do it from the Rose Bowl Stadium!), but my best girlfriend from high school is getting married on a day at sea.

I am far more a football person than a cruise person, but I'm also a good friend :) That doesn't mean I can't still be a fan!

...and why do people go on cruises, but read, sit, gamble, or watch shows all the time. Can't they do that at home or just a $99 flight away or something? We all enjoy different things!

  6. I've always been curious...is it Auburn War Eagles or Tigers? I've heard both.

It is the Auburn Tigers... War Eagle is the battle cry. There are a lot of stories about the origin, but being in Jordan-Hare and watching the eagle fly and land on the field while 87,451 of your friends cheer it on is AUsome.

See y'all in a week! I'll be the one screaming War Eagle at the top of my lungs in the Auburn dress :D

  7. We're (29 and turning 30 couple from DC) boarding Serenade of the Seas in a week for a friend's wedding. To be honest, my first cruise experience (Carnival) was absolutely awful, and I have been pretty apprehensive about the whole idea. As of late, though, the idea of getting somewhere warm in January is becoming more appealing, so I'm looking forward to it more and more.

Question: What are your recommendations for late 20s/early 30s folks on this ship? At Falmouth, Georgetown and Cozumel?

Do you have ANY idea what a mid-day wedding is like ON a cruise ship on a day at sea?

Any idea where we can find the day-by-day itinerary and activities in advance?

Does it matter if we hand-carry or check our 2 bottles of wine?

    Stats:

We'll be celebrating a big bday during our Cozumel stop, but don't have to do anything crazy -- any suggestions about asking for something special on the ship? I already put it in my comments for cruise docs.

We love food (can be simple or fancy, as long as the quality is there).

We are active (running, or whatever else you may suggest?).

We can shop, but don't like just getting stuff for the sake of it. Not in search of diamonds, etc. More likely to pick up a <$25 handmade necklace or painted plate.

    We don't like tourist traps.

    We do drink.

We don't have kids, we do enjoy them, but would like to escape them every once in awhile.

Due to the military taking FOREVER to process my leave paperwork, the last thing we could afford is an interior room on deck 4... thanks especially for any ideas of how to improve this situation and maximize enjoyment. Good thing we like each other!

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Just to see your team lose? But why? ;)

Arrogance doesn't win games, ask Johnny Football :)

I called RCI and spoke with a representative, she looked into it for me, and said we all need to contact the Cruise Director on the first day of the cruise and put in our request. If my best friend from high school wasn't getting married ON Jan 6, you can bet your butt I'd be in Pasadena instead!
