I heard the brig was full.

Looking at the documentation form it looks like you have to be the direct owner of the stock and have evidence of that on the brokerage statement you have to provide to get the credit. Check out the Investor section on NCL.com. (bottom of page)
Bummer. My index fund owns over 3.5 million shares valued at almost 200 million USD (6/30/17)
But thanks for the info.
-
I own an index fund which has over 100 shares of NCL in it.
Anyone ever submit that for documentation?
-
People do manage to go negative somehow as I have seen them not allowed to disembark the ship and escorted to settle their account.
-
My recent experience on the GEM was the CD and ACD were emphasized but the cruise staff beyond that where barely noticeable beyond calling Bingo.
-
If its worded as "Single Supplement" than its possible to find a cruise with a supplement of less than 100% including zero :)

There is, I believe, the crux of the issue. You assumed/anticipated and the facts ended up being different than the assumption. Studio cabins are their own meta, they are not in the same meta with Inside cabins...pricing of one has no bearing on the other. Again...all supply and demand.
Not for anything, but just because you, I, or anyone else "have never seen" something doesn't mean it isn't true and/or doesn't happen. The private lounge is certainly a benefit that NCL advertises for these cabins. The cost(s) involved are included in the price of the cabin. Same for this being an adult only, private keycard access area of the ship.
Sure, so please let me know what ships and itineraries you normally see these prices on. Thanks.
-
No you said they double the occupancy price, they do not. The price of the cabin is the same whether one or two people are in it. If two are in it each pays ½ of the cabin (occupancy) price. If only one person is there they pay the whole cabin price. The price of the cabin does not change at all.
lol okay.

Yes, Oliver, this was EXACTLY my motivation for looking into the NCL SOLO cabins. Thank you.
Welcome :D
And I have never seen anyone claim that the studios are worth any sort of premium for the lounge.
-
This is why— you have to compare prices in the studio to non-guarantees. I rarely see the other categories come out less than the studio if you are comparing free-at-sea promos.

What ships and itineraries do you normally see this on? I would be interested in finding out the dates in case they work with when I can cruise. Thanks.

Then book the inside if price is your consideration point. However, book the studio if you still want to be in the adult-only, keycard access area with access to the private lounge.
Different strokes for different folks.
Remember...Insides and Studios are different metas. Nobody ever said that Studios would be priced lower than any other cabins. Pricing is always determined by supply and demand.
FYI any solo passenger is invited to use the private lounge in the evening during the daily solo and singles get together.
Also, NCL initially had placed emphasis on the price when these cabins first came out...I think the original posters point is that they aren't impressed if "priced for solo" is supposed to be a feature of these rooms.

That is not an accurate comparison. The studio cabin comes with the Free at Sea offer. The balcony price you see is for a Sail Away rate which comes with NO perks. To get a balcony with the comparable Free at Sea offer, the minimum price is $2,998.
That's a great point I had not considered.
When I quote the Studio and Inside with the beverage perk, the inside is still $300 cheaper.
-
For example, one of the January sailings the studio is more expensive than even the balcony for a solo traveller.
-
Again NCL does NOT double the fare. The fare quoted is PER PERSON DOUBLE OCCUPANCY, egro the price for the cabin is twice what the DOUBLE OCCUPANCY per person rate is. If you choose to book that cabin yourself, the cabin price does not change, you just have to pay the full price yourself.
....You just worded the same thing I said differently.
-
Thanks Oliver033. The website clearly shows there is a single cruiser discount but perhaps that is as you say just not paying the port charges/fees twice. I'm happy whatever.
Indeed, a "Single Cruiser Discount" does exist, just don't think it is in your example.
Off peak season I typically find the multiplier to be 1, 1.5, or 1.75 the double occupancy fare.
As to the original point, ships with studio cabins are often (if not always) priced at a higher fare than inside guarantees with the "Single Cruiser Discount."

:halo:
NCL doesn't charge double occoupancy prices for solo travellers. They do offer all cabins at a slightly discounted rate. For example the current pricing for my next cruise on the Getaway in September is £1149 each for double occupany (£2298) but for solo occupancy it is £2068. Unless this is only a UK thing but I have never paid for double occupany with NCL.Actually that is the double occupancy price minus port charges/fees because NCL only doubles the fare, not the port charges/fees.
-
I only cruise solo and rarely (if ever) find the studios to be cheaper then booking a solo inside gty.
-
Probably over due maintenance and since this cruise was empty it was easy to cancel.
-
I imagine if we all stopped going to speciality dining they would close the dining rooms and convert the areas to additional cabins, making it more crowded.
-
It is because the bean counters at NCL have taken over.
-
I have done numerous cruises at 7+ days.
It has been possible to always see entertainment nightly without repeating the same performance (though sometimes the same entertainers just put on a different show).
The entertainment has ranged from solo comedians to complete broadway type productions.

Its not necessarily about distance but ease and cost.
LGA is under going massive renovations and traffic is terrible. The taxi fares from LGA to Manhattan are metered. Other transit options still don't avoid the traffic coming or going.
JFK is a flat rate into Manhattan. Also, public transit options won't encounter the traffic problems coming or going. I'd personally selected JFK and use public transit to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and walk to the Cruise terminal or a taxi from the Port Authority bus terminal the Cruise terminal if its too cold.
If Newark, I'd probably selected an NCL transfer for ease and comfort.

We are on the Gem 1/3 sailing. My mom called yesterday seeking an update and they advised that they are still working on it. My mom asked whether the new itinerary would be Florida and the Bahamas and if so, would they provide any kind of compensation for their guests since Fl and Bahamas are generally too cold for beach activities in Jan. The person she spoke with said she wasn't at liberty to discuss the specifics of any new itinerary yet but "she could virtually guarantee it won't be Fla & the Bahamas."
Seems like there isn't a consensus between customer service reps, so take it for what it's worth...
Get ready for Iceland!

Taking Gem out of NYC - Mistake
in Norwegian Cruise Line

As long as NYC continues to have at least two NCL ships from different classes then things will be okay.
