Actually I don't think they are that much smaller. I have eaten at Brazilian steak houses on land as well. The difference is Moderno's salad bar is on both sides of the serving area so it really is very large, plus more than size, is the unbelievable different types of salads that they serve...Believe me, it is above and beyond a normal, salad bar.
I've never been to one that WASN'T on both sides, and I could tell that Moderno's from the pictures. Like I said, I assume the selection isn't any less, It's just compacted. (Except I'm skeptical when people keep talking about salad, salad, salad, different types of salads.)

Haha! Thank you for noticing.Just couldn't help but reply to extend my congratulations for using those words correctly! Thank you! :D -
Lucky. How was it? ;)Hey, why does my cruise-ships dot com Getaway ticker say I "sailed" already on March 1st, 2014?;) -
When I travel abroad, I turn airplane mode ON, but then turn just WiFi back on (which is the same as shutting off data and phone calls). That way if there are free hotspots on land, my phone will pick them up and I can send iMessages or go on Facebook or Cruise Critic, etc. ;-)

The OP didn't say anything about feeling forced to participate in the party. The post suggested that the videos of the White Hot party and the embarkation party that she watched showed few kids and a "party boat feel". It had nothing do do with whether or not she could just skip the parties. The OP was trying to get a feel for whether or not that behavior was going to be prevalent throughout the cruise. Some responders inferred things that weren't implied.

Maybe since it says "on its Caribbean voyages", which haven't started yet, maybe that menu isn't available yet?The 4,000-passenger Norwegian Getaway—making her debut in January 2014—will test the updated wine menu on its Caribbean voyages before the new selection of wines are embraced by the rest of the fleet over the course of the year. The Mondavi Family also produced an interesting series of videos about wine-tasting, which will be aired on the onboard entertainment system in staterooms.
We have not been able to find the new wine menu. It seems like it should be available at this time. We contacted pre-cruise Concierge and thay hardly knew what we were talking about.
Can anyone sailing on 'Getaway' post the menu or provide any information regarding this subject?
Thank You,

Thank you for sharing. I see you've also posted it in the All Things Getaway post. I hope you even more coming!

I've been two nights on the Getaway - and I've shot a video review for you:
Terrific! Thank you. That showed different things than I've seen before, like the photo gallery and inside the mojito bar.
-
Just do it in the pool or hot tub.
-
Thanks for the details.
We are big meat eaters so that is my main reason for wanting to try this venue. So seeing the "salad bar" one way or another really wouldn't change my mind.
Same here! We couldn't care less what's on it. Just bring me the meats! :D

OP I'm with you, I really don't understand how a "salad bar" can get this much raving. I've read the posts and really am no further ahead.
I'm hoping to be able to try modernos on our February cruise. I will try to remember to take photos if I can of the salad bar that is getting so much attention. And then post the photos when I return.
I've searched images on the web and can't find any clear photos of what is on it.
I understand the confusion. I've eaten at Brazilian steakhouses on land, but haven't been to Moderno, although they sound basically the same. At the Brazilian steakhouses I've visited, the "salad bar" isn't really referred to as that. It's more of a salad and sides and specialty bread and cheese buffet. The ones I've visited, the area where you would actually create your own salad (like at a typical salad bar) only takes up about 20% of this buffet, if that makes sense.
In the photos I've seen of Moderno, the "salad bar" looks smaller than I've seen at other Brazilian steakhouses, but since often things on ships are made smaller, I don't assume this means less selection. It gets rave reviews, and we plan to enjoy it on our cruise. I would bet you can visit it on the ship to check it out either before you make a reservation, or if you've made one, then cancel it if you don't like the way it looks.

Can we throw M&Ms at them? Are there videos on Youtube?O No, not a party on a cruise ship, you don't have to go to the party. There is other stuff to do while that is going on. Don't panic but there might also be topless woman suntanning on the upper decks in the adult areas. OMG I know topless woman -
Perhaps they would increase their life expectancy? Just a thought...Sorry I don't see the advantages to the smoker to bother making the effort of switching. Beats me what I would gain from doing that.I'm 10 months smoke free now, and done for life. I doubt if I ever would have been able to quit the habit if I'd used those bizarre eCigs, even though several people I know have used them. (None who have quit.)
Anyway, this will be my first cruise on which I don't smoke. When I did, I cannot even imagine smoking on my balcony, whether or not it was permitted. I can't imagine smoking on the deck or in bars or casino if others were nearby. On the Spirit, I smoked in the smoking room only. I just don't smoke around nonsmokers. It has nothing to do with rules or smokers' rights. I just consider it common courtesy.

Yes, yes and yes - kids are permitted at all of the above.
Perfect. Thank you, Michele!

Can someone (or the OP) post a link to the questionable videos? The ones I am finding are pretty innocent. I wanna see the good stuff.

Here's my video review of the Illusionarium:
Terrific! Thanks for sharing!

Both my sons (9 and 11) also enjoy live music. They really enjoyed How at the Moon on the Epic and we did not have any issues with the 'content' of the show.
Thank you very much. I've been to the Howl at the Moon bars all over the country (of course without him!), and I know he will enjoy this a lot.
In the freestyle daily they write "After 11:00pm we recommend this venue for individuals 18 and over."That does not sound like an enforced rule. Just watch some youtube videos to decide for example:
Thanks. He will certainly be in bed by 11pm, but hopefully he can catch earlier parts. I appreciate the response.

I wonder if children are permitted at The Grammy Experience and Illusionarium. Does anyone know about kids at Howl at The Moon in Headliners? Trying to find out which activities we can spend with our 11 year old son who LOVES live music and shows of all kinds.

Also in that area there are stairs and ways to access decks 9 & 10 as I recall in the aft area.
Yes! That's what I was remembering. Thanks -
If I had that choice, I'd only sail out of a warm weather port in December, so I'd automatically rule out Breakaway.
-
If you google "Breakaway 13304", you will find lots of posts about this cabin, including some on CC, but many elsewhere also. Lots of pictures, too.
Yep there it is right out in the open where everyone can see it. I wonder why the OP felt that the staircase was "secret"?
It was funny - when I sailed on the Spirit, despite being a full New Year's cruise, that lounge area was always nearly empty. We went down that staircase every single day - often more than once - and we never saw another person near it. I have no clue why.
As far as secret: It's been a lot of years, but I have a weird faded memory of a small somewhat hidden staircase near the kids pool area that doesn't appear on the deck plans that we used to get to the deck with our rooms. I might be getting that confused though. -
There is a spiral staircase in the Galaxy of the Stars Observation Lounge on deck 12 that takes you down to a view of the bridge. You can see where it is in this photo:

I am way excited for the Mojito bar!

The pictures I've seen of the pizza look fantastic! Order before midnight or it's $8.95. It's my understanding that this isn't just "room service", but that you can have the pizza delivered anywhere - like lounging by the pool, etc. Is this true?
