  1. Wow!! Some great stories on this thread!! Keep up the good work all!!

In 2015 I lost 40 lbs and started running - ran my first 5K in October 2015 and have done a few more since then. I feel like the key to my success was a combination of factors:

    1) my husband joined in the "lifestyle change" which made it easier to remove the temptations from the kitchen cupboards.

    2) I visited a Dietician who helped me determine how many calories I should be consuming, what foods I should be eating and which I should avoid. She taught me about the glycemic index of foods which I found very helpful. She also gave me some recipes which I still use.

    3) I started walking everyday. I MADE time to get my hour walk in. I made it a priority! For so many years I made my family my priority (as most mothers do!) and forgot about ME!

    4) I logged all my food intake in the myfitnesspal website. I was completely honest with myself. If I had a cookie, I entered it. I enjoyed a glass of wine and logged it too.

    5) I got a Fitbit and made my 10,000 step goal part of my daily routine.

During this same time, my husband lost 95 lbs! We both feel great and work hard to maintain. Over the holidays I indulged a little too much!! Now my pants are TIGHT!! I'm back on track and hope to have lost the holiday weight before our cruise in 3 weeks! NO PRESSURE!!!

  2. I sailed on the Equinox in Feb 2015 and the sailing before ours had cases of Noro on it. Our boarding was delayed but when we arrived at the Pier it seemed no different than any other boarding I've experienced. It was organized and the line moved quickly. We were on the ship within 30 minutes.

We had no salt & pepper on the tables, no menus and had to be served at the buffet, but overall I think boarding a ship that had had an EXTREME DEEP CLEAN is a great thing!!! Probably never been on a cleaner ship!! It just requires some patience and for some people that comes in short demand!

  3. Sometimes a great captain makes a difference. We sailed twice with Captain Tasos on the Constellation and his presentation with slide show on the building of a new cruise ship was the most informative and entertaining day time onboard activity I have ever attended! His daily announcements were funny, he was present at some of the events and we felt that he contributed to the entire cruise experience as if his ambition and enthusiasm trickled down on all the staff. Really, we did another Constellation with another captain and everything was just a bit less inspired.

I have to agree - I was on the Constellation and thoroughly enjoyed his presentation! I have sailed with Capt. Leo and Capt. Tasos and they both offered something to enhance the entire cruise experience. I don't pick a cruise based on the Capt, but I have been on cruises where at the end I didn't even remember the Capt's name because they did not leave much of an impression (other than getting me to my destination safely :p).

  4. Hello "Tom"!

Enjoying your posts! Hubby and I are traveling on the Equinox next spring (March-2017) for the first time and this will be on a Celebrity cruiseship for the first time! Our itinerary includes Limon, Catagena, Panama, etc....Hoping those destinations prove to be a good choice!

Also we are excited to have booked a fall (2017) Mediterranean cruise on the new Konningsdam!

In the meantime, this fall (Sept.'16) we'll be sailing on the Noordam for a cruise/land adventure to Alaska!

So, LOTS to look forward to!

Just wondering.....have you ever cruised on Oceania? I'm seriously looking at that line-seems to be really, really special!!!

And, my last question.....of ALL the cruising you've done....what is your favorite line/cruise ship?

    THANKS and HAPPY SAILING!! :0)

DH and I sailed on the Equinox in Feb 2015 and it was the itinerary that you and your DH are sailing in March 2017. Be prepared for the heat and humidity when you arrive in Cartagena!! Cartagena, Limon and Panama were wonderful stops! Enjoy!!!

  5. A perfect Sea Day:

30 minute walk on deck 14 (or in Gym due to poor weather)

    Cleanup and breakfast in Blu

Grab a book and a lounger by the pool for 2-3 hours of sun.

    Mast Grill lunch.

On board activity such as Hot Glass, Trivia, Bocce, whatever tickles our fancy.

    Pool time

Persian Gardens for the heated lounger followed by a steam, sauna, and the Spring Rain shower.

Relax on the balcony with a book, or maybe a quick snooze.

Clean up, head to the foyer for some early evening music and dancing

    Ensemble Lounge for pre-dinner libations

    Dinner in Blu

    Check out the evening's show

    A little casino time

Find a lounge with our favorite music and beverages

End the night at the Sunset Bar gazing at the sky and the luminous wake of the Equinox.

    Sounds like a perfect day!!!!
