  2. we are a group of 10 travelers with 4 rooms. we all booked individually with Carnival and just made sure that they linked our reservations together. we all selected the same dinner time and plan on checking with the maître D before the cruise so that we are all able to sit together.

If you call your pvp he/she can link all four cabins for dinner before you get on the ship.. We did this on a previous cruise and we all sat together for dinner but we had to have two tables ....

We don't set up groups any more 1 because sometims the perks aren't worth paying a higher price

2 not everyone can book aft the same time

  4. No way would I drive or take a bus for hours and hours with children -- they can get bored very quickly. More so on a bus when you can't ask the bus driver to stop every so often and let the children run around for awhile. Driving -- you are going to be tired by the time you get to New Orleans. Then after the cruise you have to drive back home.

    FLY!!

O trust we were going to fly back home no matter how we get to rhe NOLA

  5. We drive from South Dakota :) We leave 3 or 4 days early, stay a night on the way (last time we stayed in Memphis, saw Graceland, and went to Beale Street for dinner), stay 2 or 3 days in our port city (New Orleans for us!), and then go on our cruise. It's really nice to have our own car, not to mention much cheaper than flying!

  6. Is your DH insane???? I mean...let him go by bus, if he wants....I'd take the kid and fly! That's NO way to start a vacation!

He might be a little insane but he is leading towards flying now because we get to spend more time in the NOLA with his side of the family

  7. I love dressing up for formal night. I wear gowns for elegant night and cocktail dresses or nice dresses for other nights. I do miss the old cocktail parties, but I like getting pictures taken and just enjoying the overall atmosphere onboard.

We enjoy dreasing up as well on formal night and regular nights as well regardless of how other people dress or dont dress.... Your on vacation to enjoy

  8. Hi All!

So my boyfriend and I decided to book our first cruise and we went with Carnival, since it was the only line sailing out of NYC during the time I want to go and hitting the ports I am most excited about. We will be hitting Grand Turk and St. Thomas. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do on these islands? Also how does tipping work on the ship? Can we have the automatic gratituity removed and tip ourselves? Any other helpful suggestions are most welcome.... Thanks in advance everyone!!!!!! So excited and nervous at the same time!!!!!

On Carnival ships you can have your automatic tipa remove and tip yourselves you just have to go to the customer service desk and ask them to remove the tip when it post to your sail n sign card t( the card you use to get on and off the ship, make purchases on the ship and to get in and out of your cabin)

  9. Are you talking a commercial bus like Greyhound? Run don't walk the other way!

(I checked, the trip would be 46 hours or so.) SO boring and uncomfortable, and while there are "meal breaks" they tend to be AWFUL at truckstops or worse, some fastfood that now has the contract for food-courts at rest areas on the interstate.

Those are your only walking-around times and no recreation for the 11yo, either.

It would not be fun. It might be the most economical, but it would not get your cruise vacation off on a happy note.

The last time I rode a Greyhound (tranny blew on my mom's car and I had to get back to college) it was 13 hours (mostly overnight so sleeping, although in a seat that didn't recline b/c back of the bus). I swore never again.

I see what you are saying we too have rode greyhoind before with our kids and our DH at.the time was only 22 months but that ride was 6 hour including the stops and we left at 2 in the morning and the kids sleep majority of the way to L.A from Las Vegas .
