Dumb question about Passports. I saw it mentioned their passports were giving to someone at the port. When we cruise we cruise with our passports. Sometimes we put them in the cabin safe and sometimes they are kept in our luggage in a pocket. How does the NCL crew where to know to find them?

Hi. I am on the ship. They collected our passports earlier in the cruise for customs agents, since these countries required visas from some on board.

  2. I am currently sailing NCL Dawn in Africa. We were sold on this cruise because of all the countries in West Africa we were set to visit. They first cancelled Cape Verde for "environmental" reasons, something about fuel. I can't honestly remember if it was after final payment, but I had my plane tickets already. Now they have canceled The Gambia due to tidal conditions. This port they shouldn't put on the schedule in the first place as upon reading about it, the channel to get there is shallow and dangerous. They must be aware of these things beforehand. I ❤️ NCL, but after reading these stories, I can't believe it's all just coincidence.

  3. I, too am on this cruise. I had no idea about any of this until reading it just now. I'm having a great time, dancing up a storm in the evening, enjoying my breakfasts at O'Sheehans, looking out my balcony to the wide open seas + The only major disappointment for me is that we're not able to visit Gambia. I did my research for this cruise. I took an NCL excursion for Sao Tome. I purchased insurance.

Glad to hear the A/C is back. I hope because it was not a quick fix, information regarding possible compensation has to been co ordinated with Corporate once fixed, so hopefully you will report back if any compensation is being offered.

Will do. Absolutely nothing so far.

  5. I am the OP.  I know no the AC not working is not the front desk's fault, but I would appreciate a "we're sorry" instead of, "this is an older ship." It's happening to 200 cabins, not just yours" as if I'm doing something wrong complaining. If the ship has problems, it shouldn't be sailing. I spent a lot of money flying from the US to Melbourne, Australia, the embarkation port AND a lot of money for my balcony cabin on this cruise. And I can't even get an apology. I am literally sweating right now in my bed trying to sleep.  I'm not a novice. I am an experienced cruiser. Nobody goes on a cruise thinking, the AC might go out. Maybe you think the food could be bad. The activities lame. But, the AC not working in the hot South Pacific is inexcusable. There has been no public or private acknowledgement of anything and I think it's disgusting. That is the reason for this post.

  6. Well, I'm currently on the Grand Princess in Fiji and there has been absolutely no AC on most of the ship, including cabins, the dance floor, stores, restaurants, hallways for 2 days. To be fair I felt limited AC in the art space, but definitely not normal. I have cruised on 30 + ships. This has been the worst experience for me. This ship is sad in other ways, too. But, no AC in a hot place is dreadful.
