  1. As a DBA (database administrator), you should already know this that Human error is the most common reason for data inconsistencies.  A programmer would be the one to make the auto-calculations/determination so the code could be wrong, but I still say most likely a human error and YES you need to get it fixed.

We we have had similar problems with different cruise lines, first they had put in my husband’s birthday 10 years prior pro his birth and the second which was just a few weeks ago, I called and was talking to an agent and the next morning my birthday was really messed up (it was the current month and day (Jan 5) with a year that was making 21 years younger then I am). In short if I does not match my passport and the information has to match, if you are selected for a detailed verification and the information does not match then you can be stuck at customs until it can be cleared up.

If I were you, I would be concerned that some where in the system they have your birthday wrong and the screen you are looking that is showing the correct birthday may not be the same screen that is used upon checking and the data may been be in two separate databases that are having issues being sync’ed together correctly.

  2. Can anyone tell me if I can change in the bathroom or if there is a changing room?  I don't like wearing clothing (including a swimming suit) when I am not actually in the water.  Can someone tell me if we can there is some place for me to get out of my wet swimsuit before heading back to the ship?

    Thanks,

    Lanie

  3. DH and I are taking a Mexican Riviera cruise in. November and DH is wanting to go to a beach where he can sit and have a drink severed to him. The ports we are Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. As this has been his only request, I would like to find some place we can go to when we are in port. DH is in fond of cruising as I want to make this a great cruise for him so that maybe he will want to take more cruises.

    Thank you for the help.

  4. I sure enjoyed reading everyone’s post.

I know over the years I wondered why they heck can’t I be a minimalist? When I was a teen I can remember a tubing trip (sliding down a snow covered hill on an tire tube) that ended with me being recognized at having the most stuff. I also remember that I had dry clothes and warm feet on the 2 hour bus trip home. Also no one went with out something to munch on as I brought apples for everyone. Well I still take extras when we go as you never know what will happen.

I use packing cubes to organize and find they help in keeping things rolled. Rolling definitely helps in reducing space, just as any one that is in the military are they are taught to roll socks, tee shirts and underwear. Like others, I leave things that do not get hung up in the packing cubes. I try and pack all the hang ups in one packing cube and use the empty cube to pack my dirty clothes in as I have used them so that everything is basically packed together that will need to get washed when We get home.

I know that no matter what I will never be able to back a week’s worth of clothes in a carry on. The simplest reason is I am a plug size and the amount to space my pants take up is double what that skinny mini’s pants take up. As soon as I realized this as a big difference, I stopped worrying about trying to get everything in a carry-on and just making sure I have enough to for the number of days plus one day for 7 day or shorter trips, longer trips I pack for 2 extra days. If we will be doing laundry, I divide by the number of times we will be doing laundry and the add the extra days. Doing this was helped to reduce what I take and the weight of the suitcase is now always under the the 50 pound limit by at least 8 pounds.

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories.

  5. Hi, This may sound like a strange question but as I am preparing to fly out tomorrow for our first cruise, I realized that the 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper that the signature boarding pass is printed on is just like to big for the passport wallet, so I was wondering if they would still take the boarding pass if I just trimed out the box that has the 'Guest Details'. Can I trim the sheet down?

    Thanks,

    Lanie

  6. Hi, I am looking at the 'Photo and DVD Packages' that HAL offers. There is a package listed as 'Cruise DVD Package', the description is:

"This package includes both the popular Voyage and Destinations DVDs capturing the events on board during your cruise vacation, as well as the beauty and culture of the ports of call visited."

Which to me indicates that is would include photos of our actual cruise, but when I went to order it, it allowed me to pick the departure date as a delivery date, so does it just contain random photos of various other cruises?

    Thanks

    Lanie
