  1. I have been on a Viking Ocean very recently & we ate at all of the dinning area's, Manfredi's (twice) which was just okay! nothing special it was better than the Chef's Table but that wasn't to difficult Sorry!! (we went there twice), Manfredi's is supposed to be Italian inspired, not sure about that, I have been to Italy at least 20 times (from South to North) & it doesn't resemble anything Italian. Now the Restaurant was excellent, had great choice & we didn't have a bad meal, the daily menu was excellent.

  2. We are doing a Northern lights cruise which starts in Bergen & ends in London. Never been on Viking before so we are trying to figure out the earliest time we can leave the ship when it docks in Tilbury, we generally like to walk of with our own luggage, how does Viking operate there disembarking as we need to book our own transport home in advance?

  3. I am on the Valiant Lady as we speak as well and communication from the food hall staff in the Galley to the guests have been none existent regarding the way they are serving the food, surely they could advise passengers when they enter the Galley to take a seat and someone will be along to take your order as they would in a restuarant, from what have seen I am not sure they are organized enough to run efficiently. Takes them 20 minutes just to clear a table, they are slow and seem like they lack motivation. Somethings not right but I can't put my finger on it yet & it's not only myself that have been left disappointed other people have said the same thing.

  4. We (me and my partner) are due to travel on Virgin Voyages shortly and what like to know confirm the situation with onboard credit which we recived with this cruise. Am I right in saying that the onboard credit is linked to the lead passenger (we can't be both lead passengers?) Can this be changed for both us to be able to get drinks etc with the other? Surely it should be on the room not the person!!

  5. We are stopping off at this port for the day (10-7) and looking to go to a nice beach within 30 minute taxi drive from the cruise port in Puerto Plata, somewhere that has a bit of atmosphere, some sun loungers and a bit of food and drink. We like do our own thing and not be tied to other peoples schedules so any recommendations would be appreciated.

  6. We shall be stopping of at this port in a couple of weeks and I am looking to buy some DR cigars and was wondering if we can just buy something in the main town of Puerto Plata, DR cigars are may next favourite after Cuban cigars & what I have had I have been very happy with. If any cigar aficionado can recommend any stores that would be appreciated.

  7. My girlfriend wanted to know if we get luggage tags or can you download them? Not sure that's a thing with Virgin!! any tips regarding the question. We haven't been on any kind of cruise for a few years now so a bit rusty thanks again.

  8. I appreciate it's different depending on what country you booked. I'm in the UK and booked via a UK TA. If they don't refund my £6k it'll be Sec 75 CC claim, Travel Insurance & finally the small claims court. They can't retrospectively change the t&c's. In addition they can't hide behind abta - a contract is a contract. I've met my part. As per sec 15.2 they will have to meet theirs.

Good call I am in a similar position although our out lay was a lot less but I am going to go down cc route as well. My desire to go on a cruise right isn’t that strong right now.

  9. I am very keen to sail with Princess on a Caribbean cruise and the only thing that's really held me back is the cost of the Premium beverage package. Do most people on Princess pay as they go or just buy a Soda or premium coffee packages? I think I worked out that a Premium beverage package for two on a 7 night cruise would be nearly $1000 give or take & I don't think we would reach that limit of drinks spending over a 7 night cruise with 2 sea days. I am just curious to know what others do or would do if they liked to have a view drinks and not feel to restricted. We normally sail with Celebrity and get a classic drinks package thrown in but I like some of the itineraries that Princess have in the Caribbean.

are you asking specifically about Symphony?  My guess is that relatively few on these boards have sailed Symphony yet which was launched a little over a year ago.

Yes I am, maybe I should ask on the RCL board who have more likely been on Celebrity as well! I forgot do they still have a formal night on RCL?

  11. I have been looking at this ship and I have been quite impressed as maybe a one of alternative to a Celebrity cruise in the future, I have been on most of the S Class ships and I have spent enough time to know what Celebrity is all about & I understand that no cruise line is perfect. I am curious to know what the MDR & Buffet food is like compared to the X? is the speciality dining package good? and whats the space like on sea days if you want to relax around the pool? We like the cliental on Celebrity a lot but I can be wanting for a bit more things to do in the evening as we don't always go to the shows, we generally hang out at the Martini bar then were done really for the night. I notice things like a drinks package & grats are added on top of the cruise price on RCL! were on the X we normally have them as a perk. Will I earn my points as a captains club member going on RCL as well? lastly will I notice the amount of kids and families on board even if we go out of holiday time?

  12. I find Celebrity pizza's are poor across the board, as noted above they are very bland and lack any type of flavour. I have had pizza's from all over the world and these are on par with a frozen pizza in a UK supermarket if you think they have good pizza's you have never tasted a good one before, there's nothing subjective about it.
