We are booked on the Allure for Nov.27/2022. We didn't choose it for the ports of call, as we have been to them all several times. Just want the experience of the
ship and also we can drive to the port.

Since you're slap-bang in the downtown core there are more nice restos than you can shake the proverbial stick at, even if you restrict yourself to say 10 minutes walk or less. Make that a 10min cab ride and you have literally hundreds of options! So without knowing the types of food you already love/hate, how open you are to trying new things, and what sort of budget you're working with (NB: CAD vs USD discount!) the best advice possible is to check resto reviews.
TripAdvisor does require a major pinch of salt be taken when reading, as even ignoring fake review issue the simplistic '5* for everything' system means you are ranking the most popular, not the best, food; but sorting within types of resto at least gives you a ballpark to start in. Local newspaper reviews are more consistent in their approach than the randos on TA - try the Vancouver Sun who have had the same main reviewer for years.
Thank you appreciate this info.

We are staying at The Auberge in May 2020. How was your stay? Did you walk to the ship? Was the SkyTrain easy to navigate?
We are staying there one night in May as well. Do you know anything about the area, such as nice restaurants?

The town begins right at the pier.
Thank you

Yes, it's right there if you dock at the cruise terminal. If you're on the other side of the harbor you can still walk. It's about 15 minutes I'd say. Or you can take a water taxi over to the cruise terminal. It's a nice town. Not all touristy jewelry stores so if that's your thing you'll be disappointed.
Thanks again for all the info.

I swear I'm not stalking you! 😀
Yes, the central part of Basseterre is right there. You can go to the circus and find a taxi if you want to do some sightseeing. I don't recall a lot of shopping in town. There may be more in the cruise port area.
Ha ha, thanks. I posted the same question on several of the ports we are visiting.

Good to know.

Yes, it is a very short walk. Less than 100 yards to shop at the port and just a little further to the center of town.

Does anyone know if you can walk to town from the ship for some shopping?

About 35 minutes from the airport, with 15 from hotel to the port.
However, if you wish to cut the time airport/hotel to just over 10 minutes with under 10 hotel/port then take a look at "Little Arches" on the south chart. Friends have stayed and loved it.
Appreciate the info.

Not close, but consider The Coral Reef - Never dissapoints
Thank you. How far from the port and airport is it?

Hi
We are looking for a nice hotel that is close to the port for one night. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you,
Sandra

Yes absolutely. Donot expect any buses or trams in city center. Thousands will be coming to town, which will be turned into a large market that sells about everything.
Only outside the citycenter transport will work, but difficult to tell where exactly and how frequent.
Best is to check the GVB website by that time for details.
Once again Ine, thank you!!

We will be in Amsterdam for King's day? Do the buses run on a different schedule that day?
Thanks

Indeed it is not very common for grocery stores to accept creditcards, most work with debet bankcards with pin and chip.
So check before you shop or get cash.
Thank you Ine, you've been very helpful as always.

I read on another board that grocery stores in Amsterdam don't accept credit cards. Is this true?

Humphrey's is good value for money, nice decor, good food, good locations. An affordable chain restaurant so expect a mixed type of guests, from bachelor parties to students to families and couples. Perhaps not your special night out but they do groups very well. Not a shame to go to but there is more out there! :)
Can't comment on Hendricks.
Humphrey's might work for us, since we hope to have a rather large crowd. Good food and location will also be a plus.
Thanks again,
Sandra
