What I do find interesting is that the OP has not given any feedback since posting yesterday. Could it be someone who is trying to stir the pot?

I'm here, but I'm not sure what to say......... I didn't think I was going to get scolded for asking a strategic packing question for my friend. :o

A friend of mine is going on a cruise. He asked me what is the best way to pack Rum Runners with the following two senerios. I'm a good boy so I couldn't give him a answer. He asked....

Is it better too,

1. pack them in a suitcase with just clothes ??????

or

2. pack them among bathroom stuff (shampoos, hair dryers, lotiones ect...)

What does a porter do - These are the men that handle loading and unloading of luggage, port crew

 

What does a room steward do - This is the crew member that's assigned to the area of the ship your cabin is on. He/She keeps your cabin clean and makes those funny looking towel animals

 

What does a matra-D - Is the manager of the dining area

As a first time cruiser I'm reading all sorts of job titles people have that are working on the ship.

Is there a vocabulary list for newbies focused on the job titles and their responsibilities for the ship and us. How do we know what person to talk to if we need anything onboard ????? How do we tell the staff apart from the others as to what thier job is ?????

Captain and Bartender are self explainatory, but I could use a little help with the rest and think this info might help other first timers as well.

What does a porter do ????

One thing not covered is in the ports-of-call. Don't forget the taxi drivers, tour bus drivers and tour guides. Always bring a small stash of ones for those on shore.

Hello all, first time crusiers here.......

When we booked our cruise we pre-paid for gratuities. With that said, do we still have to tip onboard ???? Does our prepaid gratuities cover all the staff (bar tenders, room service, ect) ??????
