  1. We had wedding party get dressed on the ship. But, we also planned ahead on this and we had a suite and grooms parents had a suite, so we used those two rooms to get ready in (one for bride, one for groom). Even then, it was kind of tight and crazy once you had me, my mom, 3 bridesmaids, flower girl, and the photographer. It could get very tight in a smaller room.

We also only had about 15 minutes to get dressed. I had a corset back dress, so that took most of the time we had. I would not have had any time to do hair or makeup on board. And they keep everything on a pretty tight schedule. We would have had about 1/2 hour except we wanted to grab some food real quick at buffet because I was worried I'd be too busy to eat at reception (which I was). So, you may want to plan to do makeup & hair ahead of time if you don't want to worry about being rushed. Also, once photographer showed up, she kept wanting to get me to do some posed photos which was frustrating when I was trying to rush and get ready on time, so that also took some of the precious little time we had. I would definitely recommend having both hair & makeup 100% done beforehand and maybe just do some quick touchups on board. I decided that letting everyone see hair & makeup ahead of time wasn't that big a deal, since they still didn't get to see the whole package. And I still got the stunned look I hoped for from groom as I walked into the ceremony, even though he had already seen hair & makeup completed while boarding. They can try to accommodate boarding you separately if you really want to do hair & makeup ahead of time without groom or anyone else seeing it, but it makes things more complicated for boarding. I had the hair & makeup stylists come to my hotel early in the morning and they did a good job of making it last throughout the day.

I also had a wedding binder with all of our information, selections, contracts, photos of cake, etc. The wedding coordinator had all of it in her hands already when I met her at the port (from when we had submitted everything to cruise line). I handed her all our wedding decorations (polaroid guest book, photos of both our parents weddings) and cake decorations (ribbon & flowers for cake topper/decoration). Our coordinator, Jill, was awesome and immediately made me feel confident in her abilities. From the second we got to port, it was obvious that she knew what she was doing, had everything under control and I didn't need to worry about anything. Everything was set up perfectly at the reception. My attempt at a flower cake topper didn't work well, so I just brought a bunch of flower petals and they put them on the cake beautifully. With as detail oriented and controlling as I can be, it was great to be able to let go of all that and trust them so I could enjoy being in the moment... I wasn't sure I'd be able to do that, but they made it easy to do. There were a few minor slip ups, but nothing disastrous and Jill handled most of them quickly.

everything looks so pretty, I can't wait to tour the ship, and I will be assigning my family different tasks through the wedding like someone taking pictures and to set up the table and place things up for me like table banner and favors.

  2. I had a wedding party, everyone came dressed on board, including the groom. The only one who wasn't dressed was me. My hair and makeup was done before we boarded.

I would def recommend having your hair, makeup etc. done before you board if you are an embarkation day bride. There is not enough time to get dressed, and hair and makeup done before the wedding. I aslo would not reccommend having your bridal party get dressed on board. The rooms are small and there is not enough space for everyone to put on formal attire.

That's true the rooms are pretty small but I got the aft balcony wouldn't my room be bigger than the interior or we won't get our actual room?

  3. Hello I have a few questions for precious and upcoming brides.

Did you or are you thinking of having your bridal party (MOH BM Bridesmaids and Groomsmen) get dressed before boarding or after you boarded the ship in separate rooms with the bride and groom?

How did you feel about having your hair and make up done before boarding? I personally have a lot of hair long and soft curl thick hair and if I don't do my hair before I'll probably have an anxiety attack before because on my own it takes me about 2 hours to dry and curl my hair with a iron so imagine a wedding due :-/. I'm asking this because hair and make up really do make an impression on people and since your boarding with everyone, including your groom, your pretty much half dolled up.

Did you do your make up before boarding or going to do while in the room?

I plan on having my bridal party wear attire saying team bride and team group etc. did you do this or plan on it?

I'm very much a control freak and I am making a wedding binder with pretty much everything besides my dress incase my groom stumbles into my binder. So I'm very worried of assigning people to do things.

  4. How long did you wait for your rsvp to come back after you sent out your invite? Did your bridal party come dressed or did they get dressed with you in bride and groom dressing cabins? When were your group and married couple pictures taken?

  6. I believe you won't be able to board any kind of food with. But worth to ask. We made our final decision, we are not buying the buffet and we are not going to advertise to our guests. We spoke to another carnival coordinator, way better and much more clear than my own coordinator...she said they usually don't have much time anyways. Elevators are packed....by the time the make it up is time to come back.

From what I read on these boards you are allowed bring food with you as long as everything is sealed. So a little snack bag while people board or as soon as they are on given a bag of goodies wouldn't be a bad idea.

  7. My fiancee and I are getting married on the Carnival Sunshine on Jan 17, 2015 before the ship leaves for a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise. We didn't bother with save the dates and sent out passport invites in March so our guests would have lots of time to save up. So far we have 23 sailing and 5 non-sailing guests.

Did you make a list of everyone you invited and have you contacted ones that haven't answered ? I don't have many "homes" that I addressed invites too but I'm worried about people not even sending the rsvp back. I'm sending mine out in July, I will end up organizing my list and than start worrying about the guests actually sailing with us.

  8. I am worried about this as well, if I'm spending money on the reception why buy everyone food than they won't be as hungry or hungry at all for the appetizers and drinks. I'm thinking of making goodie bags or some sorta snack baggie prior to the reception. I'm afraid of boarding late and people rushing and not making it to the ceremony on time. So I guess as it gets closer I will make a better decision. I have a good 6 months ahead January 25th 2015.

Where did you get these favors from? Did the cruise line give you a hard time about the "glass" ? I'm getting married on Carnival Breeze, not sure if they don't let you take glass or not.

  10. I'm very much similar and with such a tight timeline and the craziness of embarkation day, I would have lost it. Our guests (the important ones like Mom, Dad, siblings, etc) were already booked to sail with us, so we switched to an "at-sea" wedding. We got legally married two weeks before we left and booked a vow renewal package so we could have a ceremony at-sea on one of our four sea days. It had all the perks of the embarkation wedding (ceremony, coordinator, photographer, receptions, etc) and we didn't mess up anyone's port plans. Here's our Review.

I did go to your review, very nice and I love the cake set up idea. I did not see any pictures of the brides :-( but I wanted to know did you get to walk down the aile the same as a regular wedding day? I am thinking of maybe doing the on-sea wedding but I just do not want to miss out on the whole entrance part and pictures of the entrance and his FACE expression all those little moments.

  11. There is a lot of information over on the Honeymoon/Wedding board. There have been a couple of Breeze weddings this year where the couples wrote reviews of their experiences.

    "

As for the tour you're asking about--they do allow couples to do a "ship inspection" tour after you book. You are allowed a group of 4 adults (including yourself) and it gives you a chance to see the different venues and if there's a wedding that day you'll see the rooms decorated. We did ours about nine months before our wedding (Carnival prefers them to be closer to your wedding), but it gave us a chance to realize that an embarkation was not for us and make changes. We brought my Mom and Grammy with us and it was a lovely day. Once we were done exploring we had lunch and debarked with the wedding guests before sailing.

The Miami-based Carnival coordinators can be interesting. Each is assigned to two or three ships and compiles your information for the third-party wedding coordinators and the ship. Other than our initial phone conference with ours, we didn't have any issues.

That is what I am afraid of that the embarkation day won't be for us because I tend to over think everything !!! & panic and go into panic mode but I do not want the wedding to get in the way of anything else on the cruise so what did you guys end up doing??

  12. Hello,

I stumbled across a post that someone mentioned a Wedding Tour of the different locations. What does that mean? When will Carnival offer to give a tour of location? I am going to book on Carnival Breeze for January 25, 2015. I have already spoken to a coordinator which was really rude but what can you expect, I live in Miami and the coordinator was a Miss. Thing attitude instead of bubbly and happy voice. I hung up saying I BETTER NOT get her as my wedding coordinator because I will flip !! So, hopefully when I call back I get someone different and I get more information.

If anyone has any recent photos of their wedding on Breeze or review of how it went, please let me know. Did you get married on Miami Port or on an island port.

  13. Did you take into account gratuities added to your S&S Card? That will be an extra $12 pp/pd. Other than that you don't have to spend a dime on-board and still have a great time. Bring on your own soda and wine (1 bottle per adult) if you want that. Stay away from the casino, photos, spa, store and bingo so you won't be tempted to spend there.

In Cozumel grab a taxi ($20 for a taxi incl tip each way) to Paradise Beach. $3 pp gets you use of the facitilities including pool, chair, umbrella...they ask you spend $10 pp in food or drinks. In Grand Cayman there is a yellow hut when you get off the ship that has $20 pp tours of the island ending at a public beach where you can swim or layout on your towel for free. They will come back after a couple hours to take you back to the ship. The tour goes the Tortola Rum Factory, the Dolphin place where you can watch people interacting with the Dolphins, and to Hell. You get to see some of the island and enjoy some beach time. Or take the public buses to the public beach. See the Port of Call board on information on how to do that. I can't help you with Montego Bay.

I have a question about this, if we pre-paid our tips when booking our cruise. Do they still charge your S&S card once on board, even if they credit the S&S card with the pre-paid tip money. I would like to know, so I can know what to expect.
