I have to agree I wish the paradise had the 2.0 upgrades, but still an awesome cheap cruise. We went in Feb 2014, and are going again in late Nov of this year. Both times are the 5 day.

I live close to the port in Tampa. It is sad but is true that it's days are numbered as a cruise port unless they do something. The rumor I have heard is no 7 days are being scheduled after march because outside season the profit just wasn't there. I think some of that is carnivals fault. They can run east, and west routes out of port caniveral, why not tampa? The paradise isn't bad but according the John Held it will not receive 2.0 upgrades ever. I have been on the legend, it was horrible, and been on the paradise, it was awesome.

 

My wife and I have been platinum for a while and FTTF would have been an automatic if it were offered prior.

 

With that said, I couldn't help but chuckle at your response. I feel the same way, and up until last week no one has said anything. Then we cruised again on the Glory...

 

It was after dinner, day 6 and the line at Guest Services stretched to the theater. There was one person in the FTTF/Diamond/Platinum window and I walked up behind her. One fellow cruiser didn't like that at all, she came over and shared a lengthy speech about waiting, others were here first, I needed to wait and a few more not worthy of Cruise Critic.

 

I asked her if she was done and pointed to the sign, showed her my card and thanked her for reminding me we've been able to have a great vacation together and not meet up until that point. My wife walked away laughing to the point of tears...

 

The perks of Carnivals program are few, and while I don't plan to abuse them, I do plan to use them.

We used FTTF on our cruise in Feb, I like it because we typically get to the port early especially if in our home town. I am not the pushy obnixous type but if i paid for it going to use it. The only time I saw attitude was the same exact thing, line wrapped around, and we just walked right to the counter, no one on that side. Being a pretty big guy no one said anything just death stares. The kicker is we were cashing out bingo winnings, so that really did make it all the funnier because as the cs lady is counting it out the one's giving looks only glared harder, and yes I said to the cs that we won bingo.

We just booked a November cruise on the Paradise. We've only been on the Holiday & Pride. What is your favorite thing about Paradise?

• We're on a 5 day cruise - is there an Elegant Night?
  
• Is it worth it to get FTTF?
  
• Flying in day of cruise ... is there any place close to the Port of Tampa to get water and soda?

Yes to elegant night, no where near by to get water and sodas that I know of, FTTF was worth it just to get settled in room before going to lunch plus priority on, I went on the 5 day in Feb has so much fun despite being an older ship,

I don't know about Glory but most ships have pizza, and room service 24/7. Room service is not bad late night. The comedy show time seem to change depending on what is going on the ship, often 10 - midnight.

Not a martini drinker but did one, and really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the spicy one don't recall what it was called, then again things got kinda fuzzy after that lol.

Carnival Legend Jan 2012 like a week after the Costa Concordia, we were one of few not seniors, we saw the cruise director the 1st night, and don't recall again, etc.. The kicker was the boat breaking down, and us being in the Aft of the boat on floor 4 it woke us, we called the front desk, and were told nothing going on lol. We gave cruising another chance in Feb 2014, and it highlighted how bad that cruise was.

I should say I am not picking on seniors, but a cruise shouldn't be like a nursing home, and that is how it felt lol.

We are looking forward to our cruise on the Paradise in January......By the way, what is that thing in the corner with the picture of a ship? Can it be taken out of the cabin to give more space?

No it can't be moved, and for some reason the way they put the bed as a king the person closer to the window that night had to step over that table, while drunk this was an interesting task. was also on the paradise in Feb for a 5 night, loved the ship, no complaints. Best advice for Tampa I can give never expect to get back on time in Tampa, we 0 -2 (1. breakdown on the legend, 2. Bad fog on paradise). Good review.
