Newbie8 -- China is NEVER on any of the sales. We waited and waited and decided to book. Only got the D+ balcony discount. Nothing else .. but we enjoyed the Quantum so much and being one of the few Americans onboard made it that much cooler!

 

Expect a VERY different style of cruise -- but all in all one of our favorites.

Very different how? I have only been on Caribbean cruises and taken a cruise out of Singapore next year.

Our first few cruises, the grinder was on the table but the waiters would wrestle you to the ground if you tried using it yourself. Now they have the pocket grinders that work with a flick of the thumb.

I agree and have seen the grinders on the tables many times but our experience has been the same - if you touch the grinder you will have to wrestle the waiters.

I didn't take the OP as complaining - just simply asking a question as to where the pepper grinders went. Does a lack of a pepper grinder ruin a cruise? Of course it doesn't but it is a nice thing to have. I have also noticed the lack of fresh ground pepper.

I was on Oasis in the end of July and they had coconut shrimp. I think it was an appetizer but it was a huge DO NOT MISS for me. Absolutely loved it. Also really like the roasted pablona soup. :p:p

We were on the Oasis this past March and I think our group of 12 were the only passengers that were dressed up. Don't let that stop you - we had a great time with it.

I am wondering what kind of ship activities happen during a Mediterranean cruise. I have only done Caribbean itineraries so far but have a Mediterranean cruise booked for next year.

Do they have a 70's nights? Music trivia? Any others you can think of?

Hi there - I just booked a cruise for WAY in the future (October 2017) and of course it didn't have a roll call created yet. So I attempted to create one by clicking on the link that says if you don't see your roll call click here. I am able to see the thread I created but it isn't listed under the normal spot where you can select Royal Caribbean, the ship and then the month. Did I do something wrong or how does it get into that normal area?

We just sailed on Oasis last week and my husband bought the drink package onboard. It was a better deal than online plus because we are diamond members we received an additional discount.

I was on the Oasis last week also. We paid $454 for the premium package which is $64 per day. That included the tip.

How did you get a discount for diamond members? We didn't see that.

There is no problem with your husband taking your card to purchase a drink. We were just on the Independance and 4 of us had drink packages and 1 person would take all 4 cards and go to the bar and get drinks. Never had a problem.

I can't speak for the wines but I had the premium package last week on the Independance and I could get any drink I wanted. Grey Goose and Kettle One for vodka was not a problem and any frozen drink they offered was included also.

About 2 years back we had the drink package on the Mariner and yes we were denied doubles. We asked for a double shot of Baileys on the rocks and were told no. We also could not get buckets of beer. That I understand but a double shot of baileys I do not understand being denied.

 

I had a little surprise in store for Mrs. M&JfromSDL. While she was getting ready in the bathroom I put on the mysterious new "black suit" I purchased before the cruise. She was pretty surprised to walk into the cabin and see me there in a full tuxedo.

 

We love Vintages. I repeat, we LOVE Vintages. So after we dressed we went upstairs sat at the bar, introduced ourselves to Jayesh and enjoyed a couple glasses of Moet.

 

 

The Promenade was packed and the crowed looked great. There were quite a few guys in tuxedos.

 

 

What a fantastic surprise with tux. Men look great in tuxedos.

Very nicely said. Somebody told me something many years ago when I started traveling regularily. "There are always going to be issues when you travel. Lines will be long, kids will be disruptive and things may not go as planned. But you always have to say to yourself that you are lucky enough to be healthy and able to afford to go on vacation so just let those things roll of your back and smile. Your vacation is what YOU make it so enjoy ALL of it. Remember that you could be at work instead."

That converstion has always stuck with me and has made me make the best of every part of all of my vacation even if things are not perfect.

 

Yum! We love cupcakes. Do you happen to recall what the charge was for these?

If I remember correctly the cupcakes are around $4 each.

My vote would be the 2 connecting cabins. 4 people (even though 2 are small kids) in 1 cabin is very cramped.

I would always go with the longer cruise if possible. 5 days flys by too fast. I would also pick Freedom class versus Oasis if I didn't have any kids with me.

I am also waiting for fall of 2016. Waiting on pins and needles to book a Mediterranean cruise with my mother.
