When I was on in September, best connectivity was in the sports bar next to the casino. 

Crew masks are optional - and if they chose to wear them they have to be the blue RCCL ones, not KN95s starting today on Adventure sailing out of Galveston. 
 

I’ve been on Adventure for the last 13ish days and haven’t had any trouble with Zoom or Google Meet. Don’t use Teams so I can’t speak to it. 

Just been told that we can't make Grand Cayman on Tuesday because of weather. Instead we'll be back at Labadee again tomorrow and then on to Jamaica for Tuesday. 

My husband and I stayed in the Royal Suite on Adventure a few weeks ago. Beyond "normal" suite benefits:

• the suite concierge met us on shore and walked us through check in (and we could check in "whenever")
• we were escorted into the room right away and didn't have to wait for the 2pm "room ready time"
• the suite concierge gave us her number and told us to call her for "any thing" at "any time"
• we got all the normal suite concierge "I'll setup your speciality dining" stuff
• she also escorted us off the ship and we could debark at whatever time we wanted
• So I'd classify this stuff as "genie lite"

The big difference was the room itself. 

• room is huge (1,000ish sqft)
• there's a piano (no big deal for us, but it is impressive)
• having a real "bedroom" was nice since we tend to run different sleeping schedules and we didn't have to worry about keeping the other up
• the shower was enormous and had two rain shower heads and it could serve as a sauna
• the tub is jetted
• there's a hot tub on the balcony - I spent a huge amount of time in it
• I thought about youtubing "how to use a bidet" but never got around to it

It was our anniversary and we got a "deal" on the room. It was more a bucket list thing for us than anything else. 

Was the price worth it? To do it once, yes. Would I do it again? Maybe in another 5 years for a special event. Normally I'd rather spend the extra money on something else and just go with a Grand Suite.

Just and update for anyone.... I'm in my "new" room and feeling fine. Only felt bad for about 24 hours total. This morning I went down to be cleared. They gave me another COVID test and asked me if I'd had more "symptoms" - which I hadn't. Then Guest Services sent some folks to help me move my luggage to the new room.

Will probably be careful about what I eat and stay away from booze tonight but all in all, if I had to get sick, it was fairly uneventful.

It was on the "Taste of Royal" menu. Was very yummy and that's the only thing I thought likely to have been a "mistake". 

Since I was fine about mid-day yesterday (so less than 24 hours of symptoms), it probably wasn't noro or gastroenteritis.

I saw my room attendant today. He told me that when there is a "GI" cabin, they remove all the bedding including the bed skirt and then scrub everything down. I gave him an extra large tip to make up for the trouble.

Not sure... since we're sailing less than 50% full, could be the room was supposed to be empty. If not, there were certainly others of the same type that were. Last week the rooms on both sides of me weren't booked. 

I didn't see any topics that matched this so I thought I would share my experience in case it's helpful for others.

Today was the first turnaround day in my B2B2B. Last night I started have gastroenteritis or food poisoning symptoms. My first thought was that if I went to medical they'd treat me and then deny boarding for my next cruise. I was considering trying to "tough it out" and hide what was going on so that I could remain on the ship. But then I thought about potentially exposing a bunch of people to whatever this is and I decided to do what I thought was the right thing.

I called the night nurse and she asked me come down straightaway at 7am. I did and we went through all the CDC paperwork and did another COVID test (this time the one that feels like they're trying to poke up into your brain). I didn't have a fever and my COVID was negative so she gave me some drugs. They said I could cruise (yeah!) but I have to remain in my cabin in isolation for at least 24 hours (reasonable). 

So it could be gastro, noro or I ate something a bit off (looking at you tuna tartar).

The interesting other bits....

• I was supposed to change cabins but they didn't want me "homeless" for part of the day so I'm in my 1st week's cabin. They say they'll move me once I'm out of isolation.
• The immigration officer came to my cabin and checked my passport here. 
• I didn't have to do the muster drill. Don't know if they'll make me go to my muster station tomorrow or not. 
• Because I didn't do muster, the TV in my cabin is having fits and won't let me do anything else with the tv except stay on the "you need to go to muster" screen. Have tried to get them to fix that but no dice so far. Makes having "free" on demand tv a bit of a disappointment.
• Getting food hasn't been easy - I get "free" room service but room service isn't open yet. 

I'm starting to feel fine so I'm hopeful they'll clear me in the morning and I can get on with the second leg of this cruise.

So if you too are wondering about getting medical help, do the right thing. They'll let you stay on board if it is all safe for you and the rest of the passengers.

Families with kids under 12 are considered unvaxed. 

Adventure is going into dry dock after the end of this cruise on Saturday. Some staff were transferred over to Brilliance yesterday at Coco Cay so that they can go on to other assignments (the person I talked to thought they were going to Freedom, primarily). Others are leaving Adventure on Saturday or Sunday and going to Oasis. And then of course some are staying on to support the dry dock.

There are people ill onboard but the delay was caused by a busted port side steering gear (whatever that is) and didn't have anything to do with the illness. There would be no reason to delay the ship because people are sick - if anything they'd want to get them off sooner rather than later.

Some of the systems certainly just run on schedule.

Everyone has a right to their own experience, but I'm still having a great time. I firmly believe that the biggest determining factor for whether you have a good time or not is your own attitude. They're still feeding me good food, I can still get alcohol when I want it, the toilets all work and I'm washing my hands every chance I get. It could be a ton worse (I could be one of the ones having to clean the ship or listen to people complain - some about totally justifiable things and others about trivial things in hopes of getting something free out of the cruise line). They can't control the weather and they have a lot less to do with noro outbreaks than the passengers do.

It might even get sunny for part of today - I've got hopes :)

Doing some math..... Baltimore is 901 nautical miles from PC. If we do 22 knots (supposedly our fastest speed) that's 40+ hours which means we'd be in Baltimore Friday afternoon/evening.

Weather in PC tomorrow is 72 and raining. I was hoping for sun, oh well.

Captain Thor just announced that we're now headed to Port Canaveral and will arrive in the morning. We'll spend the day there while they make repairs. He'll announce later when we'll be back in Baltimore.

What I heard from the hostess in Chops is that something is broken with the steering and that we need a part that they're trying to get to Grand Bahama and that it'll be 4pm today before we get there. She also said that they didn't have any idea when we'd be back to Baltimore.

Take this all with a grain of salt as there seems to be a lot of rumor-mill right now and not a lot of facts.

We're also on Grandeur - we got off to go to the grocery store because I ran out of hair spray and they didn't have any on the ship. Wasn't that awful walking around and the city did look beautiful with a cover of white.

Last night it was rocky enough that I had a bit of trouble sleeping, but it wasn't horrible.
