  1. We have sailed with my 2 year old twice- first time when he had just turned 2 on Disney. We did a Family Deluxe Ocean View- it was very roomy and he slept in a pack n play they provided. The room did have a curtain divider. He had a good time in the nursery (~$9/hr), we used it about 2 hours each day. He does to daycare and It was a similar set-up, so he adjusted fine. They had snacks, movies, crafts, playdoh, etc. He was sad he could not go in the pools, but enjoyed the splash pad with us!

We just got off the Carnival Conquest last week, and he is 2 yrs 9 months now. He slept on the couch bed- we brought a blow-up bed rail to keep him from rolling out. He loved it. We used magnetic hooks and black out curtains to separate the kids area from ours, so we could go out on the balcony while they slept. He did well in the Kids Club, cried at first, but did better when all age groups played together, so he could just be with his older brother (age 10). He is potty training now, so they did change his diaper for us once or twice. They went probably about 2-3 hours each day so we could relax and go to the bar. They called us on their phones and gave us updates, etc.

We are doing another Disney cruise this winter after he turns 3. Hopefully potty-training is done and he can go in the pools and kids clubs. I am probably the only one happy about the large age group on Disney (3-12), that way his brother can play with him and take him potty! :D

Sorry if im hijacking the thread - do you have any pictures of your curtain set up? Or a link to the hooks/curtains you used? Trying to figure out a way to keep our light sleeper separated from us on our upcoming cruise in november! Thanks!!

  2. OP - I strongly suggest you check out the family cruising board you will find a lot more support and tips about cruising affordably with little ones. On the main board people berate you for bringing children and think if anything you should pay more to have children on board. Many lines offer paying port taxes only for 3rd/4th passengers or kids under a certain age. Thankfully, not all cruisers have this attitude. We started cruising with our first at 8 months and will be cruising with a 4 year old and 9 month old in November. We have always had a great time (not stressed as other posters suggest) and although my children won't remember these early cruises WE remember and cherish the time and memories with them. Try NCL too we've done several trips with them with kids sailing free. All the best!

  3. If you have one of these, you are probably in a suite and can probably ask you butler.

I am sure he will get you whatever you may need.

I personally do not drink any kind of coffee so would not have checked for that.

Are there just regular drip coffee machines in non-suite rooms? Or have all the machines been upgraded? I have a nespresso at home and I love it!

There is no way I'd rather spend my days then on a cruise ship!

  4. Thanks so much for sending the links for the car service! It seems that will be much easier and less expensive than a cab. Do you know if we could book the car for a couple hours so they could pick us up from the port drop us off somewhere central, we do our walk and they pick us up at a prearranged place /time and take us to the airport?

  5. Here's a link to the Schwartz Travel website: http://www.schwartztravel.com/

Without knowing where you're planning to go after dropping off your luggage and where you'll be going to after you retrieve it, I can't say which of the two facilities is better for you, but the West 37th St. location is located on the ground floor and is a bit more convenient from that perspective.

I'm thinking of taking a taxi from the port to a central luggage storage dropping off bags and doing a 1-2 hour walking loop hitting Times Square , rockafeller, 5th ave, and time permitting empire st building return to luggage and then cab to nwr. Any tips? Thanks!

  6. We cruised with our dd when she was 8 months on the royal princess with my in lawas. It was an amazing trip! She was one of only 3 babies on the ship, the staff loved her. She was eating some solids and they would puree anything you wanted in the mdr. After we told our waiter she loved carrots, we had pureed carrots waiting every night.

A tip: I looked at the menu early each day and told my husband what to order and arrived 20 mins after the start time so that food was waiting for me and dd, it made dinner a little easier and shorter for a little one.

    Have a great time!
