I agree, We did not have any trouble with bugs and usually I am a prime target for them.

May I ask the name of the tour company that you booked with? Thanks!
I booked with havanajourneyscontact@gmail.com. You will get an immediate reply that they have received your email and you will hear from them in a day or two.
Our tour guide was a lovely girl named Romy. Very good English and a good conversationalist.

We were also on this cruise and thanks to all who had posted on this thread previously, we were able to plan things on our own. I had booked an all day tour with a private company in Havana at a fraction of the price and could not have been happier. The first hour and 45 min was a walking tour in the Old part of the city. The next 5 hrs were in a classic air conditioned car. Our guide was a lovely 25 yr. old who spoke great English. We had lunch at one of the little cafes in a home.
I loved Havana and felt safe at all times. The people are lovely and if I have the good fortune to return some day I have an idea of what to bring as gifts to the people I come in contact with.
Yes there is a lot of poverty but the people are proud of their country and don't complain.

Thank you for the info. I may just buy a few cards and mail them when I return since it may take forever for them to arrive.

Does anyone have information about buying and mailing cards from Havana that might be convenient to the cruise port? :)

I will not be traveling with teen age children but this is the best advice I have seen.
Thank you Vida for this and all the other things you have posted. :)

VidaNaParia, Do a lot of the people we have the opportunity to meet speak English?
Also, can you please tell me where I can find a map of the port area and where is the best place to convert money? I had read that at the port there are long lines waiting to convert money.
hanks, Jaalice

Springhill Suites Tampa Westshore Airport (a Marriott property) also has a park and cruise package. Breakfast is also included and they have a shuttle to/from the port I believe is about $10 pp each way.

Twickenham, Thank you so much for your information. We do plan to bring a transport wheel chair with us so your information will be most helpful. I will also post the names of the restaurants on our CC thread so that the person who is keeping up with the list of people can see what is nearby.

What hotel are you staying at? If you stay at one near the port, you won't need a taxi - you can just walk to the cruise terminal.
We are staying at Le Port Royal hotel near the port BUT! My husband has walking difficulties so walking is out of the question for us.
Any suggestions as to which taxi service would be best to contact? Also any suggestions where a group of about 20 people could enjoy dinner on Sun. evening? Quite a few people are staying there the night before the cruise and thought we might enjoy an informal Meet & Mingle.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how many people the taxis will take? There will be 4 of us arriving to go to our hotel and then there will be 5 of us going to the port. Would we have to pre-book a van?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

We docked in Kotor Nov 19, 2013. I had read about Milo on cruise critic and had arranged for Milo and a friend to take 8 of us on a tour. He is a marvelous tour guide and so informative about his country. I also feel that it was one of the most reasonable tours we have taken. If you want to see more than just what is near the port, I strongly recommend getting in touch with him ahead of time. I will be happy to share his email if you wish to contact me: jaalice at msn dot com. Please put Kotor tour in the subject line.

We used Andean Tours in Feb. This was the best tour we took on our cruise. Very complete and worth every penny..

Good whale watching tour in Juneau for kids?

I have booked with Jayleen's Alaska. Small boat carries only 6 passengers. Great reviews on both Cruise Critic and Trip Adviser.
She is quick to respond to any questions you might have.
