Ha, that's awesome. That was a fun cruise. Met lots of great people.

We went back to the craps table the last night around 10 or so and only 1 guy was shooting. As soon as I bought in, he backed out, so I shot alone for 25 minutes, all a hot streak. Turned $40 into $330 without ever crapping out. As soon as I did, Nikki kicked my leg and mumbled "cashout." That was all I needed to say that I came out way ahead. All in all, good rolls!

Went on a 5 day cruise on the Ecstasy out if Charleston. Here are some thoughts.
Port: we didn't park there given some other reviews about parking so just took an Uber from the Hampton Inn. $15 each way so it was a good deal since we just left the car at the hotel. Probably because it's a smaller port and I'm Platinum but it was the quickest I have ever gotten onto a ship. We were at the port at 11:00, stood in line for about 10 minutes, and were at our room at 11:30. So the port gets a huge thumbs up.
Room: we had on ocean view room on deck 7. Similar to most rooms. Temperature was fine for me but I could see how some may have wanted it cooler. And it was cooler at night for sure. My only complaint is, the bathrooms don't have the shelves to put toiletries like other ships. Just one shelf basically. Not a huge deal. No fridge, but we don't use ours when we have one.
Ship: it's a different layout than the larger ships but easy to get used to once you realize deck 9 is basically deck 5 (casino, comedy, etc.). I've read where some folks like the smaller ships because they don't feel as crowded, and I can see why. Not one time in the 5 days did I feel like any wait for something was long when compared to ships like the Breeze, Glory, etc. The staff was excellent. We had YTD and sometimes the timing is a little off in getting each course but not this time. It flowed very well.
Food: the food was typical Carnival. I mean that in a good way. Typical menus, etc. Pizza may have been a little better than some ships because it wasn't as limp. The bacon was hit and miss. Sometimes Carnival bacon is too soft. This bacon was like jerky too often. Still ate it though. Lido deck had a good layout, and never had a problem with lines or seats.
Entertainment: I gamble a good bit, and the casino staff was solid. Not a ton of crap players but had a good time with those who were there. Wasn't as crowded as some other casinos. Drink servers were plentiful and it didn't take forever to get a drink. Not too smoky but again, it wasn't that crowded. There were two comedians who were both good. Fewer shows per night than on other ships I've been on. Maybe that is because it was the same two the whole cruise. We didn't didn't do a main theater show but the band that played in the casino bar was great.
Bottom line: I wouldn't hesitate to sale in the Ecstasy again. I know it's more a port for people who can drive there but it was a great cruise.

Were you on the June 10-June 16?
We were as well, also on deck 7, and if you were playing craps, I'm sure I shot with you for a while! (and the bacon was horrible this time to me, like strips of gravel, except at Guys Burger)

I was on Ecstasy this past week, and I hit the DOU the 2nd night in the casino. Total cash out of my pocket, $40. Played craps 3 of our 5 nights, maybe 2-3 hours a night, and walked away with $330. ($290 more than I began with) It doesn't matter how much you spend, its how you play and how much you play.

My wife has learned that there is a jewelry store on Half Moon Cay where you can buy an oyster with a pearl, and have the pearl mounted in a ring. Does anyone know what the prices are like for this?
-
Wow, a few snowflakes who don't gamble. Ok. Now I will await a few relevant answers from people who actually enjoy a little gambling for fun.
If we felt we needed money to get by, gambling wouldn't be the first course of action, and if money was tight, we wouldn't pick that as our choice of fun. Also, if I thought my wife would "fall victim to the grip of intermittent reinforcement," she wouldn't be playing slots. There is a reason it's called gambling.
But hey, thanks for your laughable responses, much appreciated!

We are heading out on Ecstasy next month, and my wife and my friend's wife will surely pick slots as their game of choice. What slot machines have you guys had the best luck on? I am a card guy, so I can't give her advice on which ones to stick with. Penny slots, nickel slots, dollar slots?
Any advice is appreciated!
(and yes, I know this is a most YMMV type question, not expecting an answer that will retire us both)

I am seeing that Ecstasy is now offering "steakhouse selections" in the MDR for an additional cost. Do they still do the prime rib and lobster on formal night or is that additional now?
-
What about liquor purchased in ports? Are we allowed to carry it back on if it is still sealed? Is it duty free?
-
Leaving on her tomorrow for our first time too!!
-
We leave on Fantasy tomorrow. Last night the question came up at home "Does the bathroom have a bathtub, or just a shower?"
That is something I hadn't thought of. Does anyone know if the inside staterooms have a tub?
-
Does anyone know if this is offered on Fantasy? Also, how much is Captain Morgans? Im hoping it would be cheaper than the $65 they want for the Bon Voyage bottle!
-
Hmmm. Are you a member of that social networking site that we aren't allowed to mention here? You could friend me there. (Nancy Follin Infinger)
They don't have the option of private messages here on CC.
Message sent on unspoken site. :D

There are 3 picture heavy reviews linked in my signature below if you are interested.
We love Fantasy and will be sailing on her again in May to Little Stirrup Cay and Nassau.
I sent you a friend request in hopes of being able to send you a private message. I have a question for you based on your Fantasy review that I felt was best not put in the thread. We are leaving on her Friday, and "prefer our own mixing." I saw that you had good luck this time, but bad luck in March. Any way to message me on here or not?
-
I have seen MANY positive reviews, and all of the negative ones do tend to be around what I would consider simple issues to overlook.

Just got off of the Fantasy yesterday. I would NOT sail her again and it is debatable if I will ever sail Carnival again. The food- awful. Actual chopped up hot dogs on the breakfast buffet one morning passing for sausages. Dining room food- the "gourmet" burger is your best bet. Their version of "steak" is like dog food. Lazy, incompetent room steward and wait staff- was actually told they were completely out of pina coladas by a waiter at Half Moon while the bartender next to my waiter was making a pitcher- and continued to make more. Dining room waiters (were were in Celebration) could not have cared less if the food was warm, correctly presented or if our orders were correct. Screaming children in both hot tubs, the pool itself looked like outtakes from the people of wal-mart website. Rooms are comfortable. Shorty the cruise director is full of herself and highly annoying. Shows (especially motown) were excellent.
This seems to go against hundreds of other reviews..... I think I will look forward to our cruise with the masses of positive reviews!! :D
-
We leave on her this Friday at 4pm. Does anyone have any idea how long after leaving port it will be warm enough to jump in the pool? Im sick of all this snow!! :D
-
We just did a 7 day on the Fantasy and had a wonderful time in spite of cold weather. Staff was wonderful, ship is in good shape for her age, entertainment so-so. Would sail her again in a heart beat except for having to get to SC from SW FL.
We leave on her this Friday. How cold was it leaving Charleston, and how long into the trip before it got warm enough for the pool and hot tub?
-
Does anyone out there know why the coast guard had to pick someone up on our Fantasy sailing this past week? I believe it was Wednesday Feb 5? I never heard what actually happened?
I have been wondering the same thing. We sail out on her next Thursday (2/21)
-
First of all, I hope this is in the right forum, if not I apologize, but it is the closest I could find for what I need. ;)
I have planned a cruise for 2/21 as my fiance's Valentine's Day gift. I have coordinated everything, even down to her having the time off at work.
Now I need ideas on how to "wrap up" a gift that says she is off from work. I am doing a multi-box gift for this with each box having one aspect of the entire plan. Just some background if it helps, we are both health insurance agents, very professional office atmosphere, she is in a leadership position... not sure what else would help bring ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!! :D

You can also go into your booking on the Carnival website and change the bed configuration.
Have a great cruise!
Never saw that option! Thanks alot! Now we will have a king bed waiting for us (I was thinking it was a queen) :D
-
The stateroom we booked has two beds that push together to "make a queen." My question is, will they already have done that when we arrive and have queen bedding on it, or will we push it together ourselves and have two sets of twin sheets?
I know its probably a dumb question, but I'm just curious.

Very good point about the debit card!! We only have one credit card and it sits in the safe at home with a $0 balance on it, so it might be a good idea to get it out and make sure it isn't expired. ;)

I would say 100% yes for water shoes. It isn’t for the walk to the beach from the tender, or for walking to eat, it is for in the water. That is the rockiest we have ever experienced at any beach. It isn’t that it is not enjoyable, it is beautiful, but im the water is VERY ROCKY. Looking at the little middle “island” on the beach, to the left of the sand bar isn’t as bad, but to the right is very rocky. You will appreciate the water shoes, trust me. ;-)
